We are a Latina-led, independent nonprofit newsroom producing Pulitzer Prize-winning journalism across audio, video, and digital platforms. Reaching over 15 million people annually, we lead in dual-language podcasting and authentic storytelling that drives narrative change. We’re home to Latino USA, the longest-running Latino news and culture program on public radio. We also produce award-winning work through Futuro Studios and Futuro Investigates. Our diverse staff reflects the communities we serve. Apple Podcasts declared our podcast series Suave one of the top twenty podcasts of the past twenty years.

Did you know there’s a night many call the moment salsa was born?
Larry Harlow, a Jewish kid from Brooklyn and one of Fania Records’ first signed artists, pitched the idea of filming a live conert showing the label’s talent. Fania took the chance, investing in a concert at the lengendary Cheetah Club. A year later, the film “Our Latin Thing” was released, which captured the energy of that unforgettable night. Many point to it as the moment salsa was born as a cultural force. This marked the beginning of a new Latino consciousness in the media.
