This book was a wonderful read. I love the backstory of how it came to be and how it was lovingly crafted by the author in memory of her daughter. I can see this book being a wonderful book study for upper elementary students! Was glad to have purchased both books at the same time so I would not have to wait to read the sequel!

I found this book on Twitter, retweeted by country music star Blake Shelton. It's by a new author, a personal story dedicated to her daughter and is truly a delightful read. It's well thought out, detailed and kept my 3 year old daughter and 9 year old son's attention all the way through. Buy it! you won't regret it. It's in our regular bedtime rotation now.

The Merdragon book is definitely a read for everyone. I can not WAIT until Part 2 or how many parts it will have I will be reading them ALL. Once you start reading it you cant put it down until you are finish. The book puts you right inside all the characters on their journey as if you really know them. Again such a relaxing and enjoyable book to read I am so glad that I purchase it. Loved It

First off not for small children. Her friend was going to be eaten by the dragons. Then at the end it just left you hanging. I guess it is a set up for the next book but there could have been a better stopping point. Felt unfinished.

I really enjoyed this story - fantastic descriptive language so you can picture the characters. The message that we can all be different but still be friends is a great one. Will be looking for the followup!

A charming book about friendship and trust. Young Nevaeh’s complex family situation forces her to live a double life. Adults and children alike will relate to the dilemma she faces when she must decide whether or not it is safe for her to open up about this to her new friend Patricia. Patricia, meanwhile, has secrets of her own. Author Frankie Williams’ world-building about the societies of dragons, merfolk and deerlings is an additional bonus.

Strongly recommend.

If you like mermaids and dragons you will like the merdragon! It is every little girl's dream to be a mermaid or a dragon but in this case both! I enjoyed it greatly and i cant wait to read the 2nd one!

Two special young girls, Nevaeh and Patricia, form an unlikely friendship, in this meeting-of-worlds storybook. Children will love this magical tale not just because it is a wonderful story of friendship, danger, rescue and escape but also because the two main characters are crafted by Frankie Williams with a rarely-seen intensity of heartfelt love and genuine devotion that make them both believable and at the same time come alive in our hearts and minds. Both girls have special powers and magical abilities but their real superpower is their kindness to one another and to those around them, too. Herein lies the true message in Frankie Williams's wonderful tale - kindness not only matters but transcends all boundaries including time and space and blesses not only those who give but those who receive and witness it, too. I therefore confidently predict Merdragon will continue to bless parents and children for generations to come and the two central characters, Nevaeh and Patricia will always occupy a special place in our hearts.

There are more books to come in the series, too and, I hope, a lot more in the not too distant future.
