SAN ANTONIO – St. Mary's Men's Basketball has signed incoming freshman Caleb Jordan to its 2018-19 roster, head coach Jim Zeleznak announced Thursday.

Jordan, a 6-foot point guard out of Midlothian, Texas, was a three-year varsity starter under head coach Steve Middleton at Midlothian High School, helping lead the program to a 70-33 record over that span. An AAU star for coach Kellen Buffington, Jordan is a top-70 ranked player in the state according to TexasHoops.com. 5859

"Caleb has started at point guard for Midlothian for the past three seasons," Middleton said. "He played an integral role in our state tournament run this year. While Caleb is an outstanding basketball player, he is equally exceptional in the classroom and is a student-athlete in every sense."

Jordan was the second-leading scorer for Midlothian for the 2017-18 season, averaging 14 points per game en route to becoming a member of the 1,000 point club at Midlothian. He shot 40 percent from beyond the arc, while also contributing 3.0 assists per game. He was named First-Team All-District 10-5A, which is widely considered to be the best district in the state of Texas. As a junior, the co-captain earned Second-Team All-District honors.

"It has been a pure pleasure to coach Caleb and watch him grow as a basketball player and a young man," said Middleton of Jordan, who was a member of the athletic leadership council at Midlothian. "I have no doubt that he will make an immediate impact on the St. Mary's University basketball program."

Added Zeleznak: "We are excited to have Caleb become part of our basketball family. He is an excellent young guard with good ball skills. He's a solid defender and a capable shooter. He comes from a basketball program that plays in the toughest district in the state, which certainly brings the right type of pedigree into our program."
