The Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC), the largest coalition of Palestinian civil society leading the global BDS movement, condemns the criminal and colonial military aggression of the United States against Venezuela, a violation of its sovereignty, the right to self-determination of the Venezuelan people, and international law.
We stand in solidarity with the Venezuelan and Caribbean peoples, who for months have been suffering under US harassment through illegal military aggression and war crimes, including extrajudicial killings. This attack on Venezuela is also an attack on all of Latin America and the Caribbean.
After witnessing the burial of the international legal system in Gaza, we are now witnessing the “might makes right” era, as Palestinian civil society had forewarned.
International leaders, such as Gustavo Petro, President of Colombia, Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South Africa, and Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, warned in July 2025:
“The choice is stark: Either we act together to enforce international law or we risk its collapse. We choose to act, not only for the people of Gaza but for the future of a world where justice prevails over impunity.”
The US imperialist aggression against peoples of the Global South is nothing new, of course, from Hanoi to Havana and from Baghdad to Kabul. But now it is reviving classical European colonialism that many had thought was extinct. It is unashamedly working to control Venezuela’s massive oil reserves and other natural resources.
As many recognize, Israel’s livestreamed genocide in Gaza is normalizing this and worse forms of extreme colonial violence. To free Palestine, then, is to free all of the peoples of the world.
