occasional “cinephile”

second watch and the scene with the katana has become one of my favorite, that’s mostly because of the revelations before that: her sister, a piece of a past she so chases and looks answers for. for a brief moment, eve was given a chance to somehow relive that or hope but then it easily gets taken away by the same people that took her father. in the end, eve really only has herself.
a revenge plot but it's done in the perspective of a woman in a man's world, or at least dominated by them. it escalates fast to action sequences which is done well and keeps up with the pace, not having any dull moment as it builds up to the next one. the theme that this movie wants you to take in mind is that it's to 'fight like a girl' and not necessarily about strengths (as what eve complained about,…
