Hoover Huskies Win 2026 State Soccer Tournament
Hoover won the 2026 Iowa State Class 3A Soccer Tournament, the first state soccer title for any DMPS high school. Congratulations Huskies! Roosevelt also qualified for the tournament, making DMPS one of just two school districts with two state qualifiers.

Free Summer Meals Available at 31 Locations
DMPS is offering free summer meals to children 18 and younger at locations across the city. The district has partnered with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for more than 40 years to continue feeding hungry children.

Commencement Weekend kicked off at Hoyt Sherman Place as Options Academy-DSM honored some 90 new graduates.
Meet Willard's favorite crossing guard duo: Jenn Baker and her Morkie Poo, Al. Together they help students safely cross East 30th each day.
With support from Toyota of Des Moines and Nike, nearly 400 middle and high school student-athletes competed in the DMPS Girls Flag Football League at Mediacom Stadium
East High School art teacher Ryan Koning and her students paint a mural along the Carl Voss Trail on the south side of the Des Moines River.
Students were in the spotlight at Hoyt Sherman for the annual Project Stage. Students from our six Turnaround Arts schools presented productions of Annie, Shrek, Willie Wonka and more.
It was a big day for Kindergarteners at Edmunds Elementary School as 25 new Strider bicycles were donated for their physical education class.
Thanks to a substantial endowment and generous alumni donations, the East High School Foundation distributed $210,000 in scholarships to 50 East seniors.
