so much goodness, where do we even start?

-(new) graphic creation, upload & use

-new and improved materials for realtime viewing
-access to custom 3D assets
-faster capture to manufacture performance
-ARKit 2
-tons of performance and user experience improvements
Intrigued? Read on to learn more. And then download the app.
-let's start with the big news. swatchbook is growing up. that means it has more responsibilities. while our focus remains to be on materials, we also realized many of our customers use swatchbook to visually & intuitively navigate other non-material elements, so we decided to make those elements part of the family. in this update we are introducing graphics, colors, assets & documents as new additions to the family!
-did you just say graphics? why yes indeed we did. that means you can store all your lovely graphic designs, print designs, logos as unique first class citizens of swatchbook. in fact, you can even browse them independently from materials, & save them into collections. oh, you can even combine them with materials!
-(new) wait wait wait! What do you mean combine them? you now have the ability to create, upload & use graphics on materials. this means you can now on existing materials & a graphic such as the brand logo or a brand new graphic you designed & place it on a 3d asset live, size it, move it, take a picture of it and share it with your colleagues. goes what? works on your phone or tablet. oh yeah, AR is included.
-what about colors? does that mean i have to input my colors one by one manually like a savage? well, you can but we can also ingest an entire swatch color library from a single Adobe swatch exchange file (.ase). we store them using their .ase names & create a collection from that group.
-assets? what type of assets can we save. well you can save anything you want really but what we built this for is mainly for things you constantly reuse in the material/product workflow like lasts, fit avatars, trim & 3d assets.
-wow wow wow. 3d assets? didn’t we mention that last time? yes 3d assets which you can then use along our patent pending smart tag workflow allowing users to utilize the capture to manufacture workflow with custom 3d products.
-custom 3d products? when did that get added? we had that in 1.2 as a public beta & will now transition this to a full feature. it’s amazing to see customers use their OWN designs on the fly, on mobile, instantly, intuitively all while being synced to the cloud, anywhere in the world.
-ok ok ok, that's got to be it. what more can you do? well to name a few, updated AR kit to AR Kit 2 with some amazing little surprises & more to follow. staged swips showing you what stage a swip (swatch in progress) is at. higher resolution capturing. cleaner UI. localised capture capabilities (no more waiting for the upload to happen, we’ll do that in the background). introducing metal materials, what? metal? yeah because we rock!
those are the big key features for this release but there were a ton of improvements, workflow enhancements & bug fixes because we want to make sure you are getting the best user experience possible. why? 'cause we love you! 1.3.1 01/11/2019 so much goodness, where do we even start?

those are the big key features for this release but there were a ton of improvements, workflow enhancements & bug fixes because we want to make sure you are getting the best user experience possible. why? 'cause we love you! 1.3 11/28/2018 so much goodness, where do we even start?
-let's start with pinned filters. its the small things. pinned filters allow you to select any filter & pin that selection indefinitely regardless of session, device or time. you can always toggle it off & on as well. this is great if the user only wants to see a specific subset of the library at a time. for example you may work only on footwear & want your library to only show you footwear materials. pin it!
-last update we brought in 3d so what more do you need? how about alternative lighting for your models? materials & colors change depending on lighting so are providing users with 5 varying lighting scenarios. the default is studio, a neutral balanced scene. but users can also chose night, overcast, sunny & retail. yes, retail. you know why? where do you sell your products? that's right, in retail showrooms.
-now that we have varying lighting well what about materials in 3d? we started with a simple system but we're expanding it now. materials will be using the same intelligence in our real time 3d engine as our rendering system. resulting in more accurate representation of materials in real time. this is pretty big & will only get better over time. even tagging the materials when you create swips (swatch in progress) will be utilizing them. we have big plans for this one!
-ok. 3d? check. lighting? check. materials? check. that's gotta be it, right? no way. when we introduced 3d we started out with 5 generic industry based models. while that was amazing for our users, we didn't stop there. we are shipping over 50 unique models to cover sub categories of apparel, footwear, home goods, accessories, product design & automotive. but guess what? this is just the beginning. we'll be adding more & more to provide our community with as many context sensitive 3d assets as we can to help them communicate their ideas better & better. remember, you don't have to model anything, or be a technical wizard because all you have to do to access them is to use our smart tag system!
-ok ok ok, that's got to be it. what more can you do? how about full integrated AR capabilities directly in our app. you're joking right? no we are not. full augmented reality capabilities are now built into the app allowing you to not just visualize your materials on a variety of 3d assets, but then visualize that asset in your real environment. want to see your bag on a shelf in the store. bam! want to see that shoe on the pitch? boom! oh yeah, you can snap those photos from within the app & save them into the material page & on your mobile device.
those are the big key features for this release but there were a ton of improvements, workflow enhancements & bug fixes because we want to make sure you are getting the best user experience possible. why? 'cause we love you! 1.2 09/24/2018 so much goodness, where do we even start?
-let's start with with color & graphics. we're introducing the ability to view & navigate color ranges which are now available in swatchbook. designers can creating stunning variations of an existing primary material by utilizing recolored scans, graphics or solid colors. inside the iOS application you can now view all the variation branches and their visuals including the ability to quickly swap colors on the 3d models
-did we just say 3d? yes indeed we did. we're expanding our visual expanse to cover 3d assets. we are starting with generic industry type categories to view your materials on. this includes apparel, footwear, homegoods, accessories & products. you don't have to model anything, or be a technical wizard because all you have to do to access them is to use our brand new smart tag system!
-wait smart what? smart tags. oh yeah, and they're lit. available on all platforms, we are taking tagging to the next level by providing a context sensitive tag system that will open dedicated sub-set of tags based on the original tag. the tags at the top level determine the material’s category, and attach a 3d model to the tag, so that you can see your material in 3d, instantly. and they work beautifully with our capture to manufacture capabilities.
-capture to manufacture? are you kidding me? no. no we are not kidding you. be inspired by anything you see. grab your phone, snap a picture, size it, tweak it, tag it, and see it in 3d. just like that. anywhere. anytime. save it, annotate it, share it. and that beautiful brick wall you just captured may just end up as next year’s hottest new material on your shoes.
those are the big key features for this release but there were a ton of improvements, workflow enhancements & bug fixes because we want to make sure you are getting the best user experience possible. why? cause we love you! 1.1 05/22/2018 1.0 02/10/2018
