Resilient Infrastructure

Tuesday 4 November 2025
Live in London and Online

On 4 November 2025, Finextra Research and Responsible Risk hosted Sustainable Finance Live in London and online. Attendees explored the critical intersection of sustainable finance and resilient infrastructure.

In 2025, our focus was on accelerating the development of robust, future-proof infrastructure systems that could withstand evolving climate challenges, nature impacts, and economic shifts.

Through a comprehensive agenda of expert keynotes, panel discussions, and a hackathon, we confronted the obstacles and uncovered the innovative solutions needed to drive investment and delivery in this vital sector.

Welcoming financial services professionals, corporates, civil engineering, public sector, technology providers, fintech industry leaders, academics, and specialists in data, space, risk, and nature, Sustainable Finance Live 2025 showcased cutting-edge strategies and collaborative pathways.

Our shared objective was to facilitate quicker, more efficient, and cost-effective solutions for resilient infrastructure, aligning with the UK National Wealth Fund's strategic focus and broader economic growth initiatives.

The event particularly explored the following key themes:

  • Financing focus: Public/private finance & the role of the pensions industry. Given that risk for the pensions industry is a barrier to capital deployment into resilient infrastructure, we explored their needs to ensure their risk models enabled capital flows into resilient infrastructure. Risk capital via philanthropy and government was key to this debate.

  • Agentic AI in action: Leveraging autonomous AI to independently perform complex tasks, solve problems, and adapt to changing circumstances within infrastructure planning and finance.

  • Normative accounting for nature & climate: Pioneering new accounting methodologies that integrated climate claims and natural capital valuation directly into business assets, ensuring true cost and benefit reflection.

  • Nature-positive infrastructure: Examining the symbiotic relationship between natural capital and built environments, and how nature-based solutions enhance infrastructure resilience and biodiversity.

  • Overcoming planning blockers: Streamlining complex planning processes by seamlessly integrating financial flows, environmental considerations, robust accounting practices, and advanced technology.

  • Space & sensor data integration: Harnessing the power of space-based Earth observation and sensor data to inform, enhance, and optimise planning, monitoring, and consulting processes for resilient infrastructure projects.
