Never trust a phoenix
and my apologies
Sorry for the break in transmissions. I’ve been busy, I’ve been stuck on a blog post (which usually means I need to write a different one instead) and also, there have been events.
As you may well have read, Unbound - who published The Hard Way and were due to publish Burning Down the House - went bust. My contract, along with those of many other Unbound authors, were taken on by Boundless which rose like a phoenix from the ashes of the original publisher. This seemed like a good idea, not least because it meant that everyone who had subscribed to the book (and thank you everyone who did - you should have had a personal email as well as this rant) would still get their rightful copy.
Only now Boundless have also folded. So Burning Down the House is, ironically, homeless, no one gets their books, and I am a bit peeved1.
So if anyone knows, or is a publisher who’d be interested in this, let me know. I’ve been trying a few, but the response is quite often along the lines of ‘well, it’s a bit opinionated.’ Which is kind of the point, but maybe I have got that wrong. Who knows. Perhaps I should write a duller book instead.
I’ll keep you all updated and in the meantime will be churning out the blogposts regardless. So do subscribe if you want to stay in touch.
If I wrote a book about everything that has happened in my work life over the last 18 months, it would be dismissed as over-dramatic and implausible, but here we are.
