There's a local radio station called BFM 89.9 that has a branding campaign that play on the letters BFM. Basically you have huge adverts like "Bankers Flee Mortgages: BFM89.9", "Bankrupt Fannie Mae: BFM 89.9" on the back of taxis and car stickers.

Today I saw a particular advert on a taxi that had me sniggering for quite a bit.

The mother-unit called today and told me that she was 'doing some cleaning up' which generally means 'I need room for my stuff so I'm throwing out yours! :D'. After the usual routine of 'THROW THAT ONE BOX OUT AND DIE' from me (and my siblings too, I bet) she mentioned that instead of throwing them out, why not just ship the box to me?

"Well, apart from the shoebox that you told me Not To Open Until Doomsday, it's just a bunch of your old books."
"Oh yeah, my old comics and books from school."
"I don't see why you still keep those comics, they're--"
"THEY'RE TINTIN AND THEY'RE COLLECTORS' ITEMS. TOUCH THEM AND DIE." (See, this is where all the sibling-units say the same thing. XD)
"What about the rest? How about the pile of mythology books?"
"Oooh ship those!"
"All right."
"...."
"Yes, we'll send the money for it tomorrow. >_>"

Anyway, a friend wanted to know if my reading interests actually changed throughout the years, so...

School:

- Franco-Belgian comics (Cinebooks UK have absolutely fab releases if you're interested! And for Certain People, OMG THEY HAVE YOKO TSUNO)

- stained glass art. CANNOT REMEMBER WHY.
- medieval costumes. I'm trying to remember why. o_O
- medieval warfare. Partly because some people at uni tried to build a trebuchet. LOL

Whee gameblog. Anyway for those who found the previous post rather nutty, here's how the whole game really starts off:

In a post-apocalyptic version of Tokyo sometime in the 21st century, survivors of a war known as the Great Destruction live in underground shelters awaiting the day when humanity can be rebuilt. These survivors, lead by a group known as the Seven Philosophers construct a massive tower which eventually became know as Shinjuku Babel. Others retreated elsewhere to underground shelters; you start off in the game near one such shelter.

The game starts off with a scene showing that according to DB-NET, the information network all Demon Busters (DBs) have access to, two hours have passed since all communication to Home II was cut off abruptly. Home II is one of the shelters humans have built ever since the Great Destruction.

You, a trainee DB, and ~~a really hot oneesama~~ your mentor DB Kuroe are the nearest to Home II and both of you are asked to find out what's going on. She mentions some stuff about sacrifice... anyway.

Apparently the place is under a demon assault. Both of you split up to cover more ground, with her giving instructions to you on how to deal with the enemy. TUTORIAL YAY.

And when you do catch up to her, you find that Kuroe and her Cerberus are fighting a bunch of Ghouls and a HUGE Taraka.

The Ghouls are nothing much, but the Taraka is a hard one to kill. Kuroe's attacks don't have much effect on the demon; Taraka sends Cerberus flying with one blow. The demon then notices your arrival and heads in your direction.

Kuroe realises that the demon has a new target...

The next thing you know, Kuroe's shielded you from the Taraka's killing blow. She tells you to run...

But you can't move, and the last thing you remember is Taraka looming right over you.

You wake up in Home III, another underground shelter. A man who calls himself Snakeman tells you that a bunch of Home III DBs found you at Home II and brought you here.

After some time, Snakeman also tells you some other details. Like not only you were found almost dead, surrounded by a bunch of dead demons, you were also found holding a broken bifocal face mount display (FMD); Kuroe's. Kuroe's Cerberus was also lying by your side; the demon refuses to go with anyone but you, so Snakeman figures that he might as well let the big white doggy stay with you.

As you can see, the FMD's got a crack on its exterior (thanks to that Taraka). You can choose whether to wear it or not; even though it's damaged it gives you +1 Phys Def. (And it looks cooler compared to some of the other headgear in stores.)

Now off you go to explore Home III, and then Suginami. (Next post... if I'm not lazy I'll do it tomorrow.)

Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine Online went to open beta some time ago, so yours truly decided to give it a try. Haven't seen much of the whole game yet since I just started playing uh, 2 days ago (and because I am a pathetic n00b and I suxx lolz). The controls are a bit awkward and it took me a while to get used to 'em, but after an hour or two I was running around.

The game system's like the old-skool Megaten games. You get to negotiate with demons; talk or threaten them into joining you or giving you stuff, and you need a good supply of magnetite to summon them. You can build up your relationship with your nakama by use of the 'Care' command; none of this hair-yanking bribing them with expensive crap bullshit.

When you start the game you can build your character around three kinds of builds; Meleer - close-range physical attacker; Mage - mid-range magic user; or Gunner - long-range physical attacker. (There seems to be a lot of Gunners around... hmm. Prolly 'cause at the earlier levels, it's easy to deal with some of the bigger demons if you're a Gunner?)

Lots of different skills to level; attack techniques, knowledge (gives your character passive skills) and special Chain Expertise skills. Like some other MMORPGS, you can basically tailor your character into a more specific build or a special hybrid as you level up.

O HAI

Anyway, here are some screencaps and comments about the plot blah blah from the game; if anyone wants me to LJ more about the game just drop a comment.

You play a new Demon Buster (DB for short) who survived a demon assault on Home II, an assault which killed your mentor. To make it short, some guys from Home III found you half-dead and brought you to Home III. You wake up after your injuries heal and get sent to a guy called Snakeman, who basically looks after ~~stupid n00bs~~ young DBs like you. He puts you through some training, gives you some gear and nakama, including a Cerberus that was found right next to you in Home II and refuses to go with anyone except you. Whee!


Do not be fooled by that armour, he's a n00b. T_T	What my character looks like underneath that faceplate. WUSSY~

I has a Cerberus! (Of course, everyone in the game gets one but who cares?)	Costs only 1 MAG to summon this white doggy hohoho. It leaves you after a certain event, but you can get it back. Yay!

Home III, your new base. Lots of other DBs and their nakama about.	Waaah everyone has better nakama I feel so inferior T_T

Like in the games, you fuse demons at the Cathedral of Shadows. CERBERUS WHY ARE YOU LOOKING UP THAT TARAKA's SKIRT	There's the usual Double fusion, or the Triple fusion. You can also register your demons in the Demonic Compendium.

Fused an Erthrys. BOY DOES HE SUCK.	Snakeman also gives your this Garm right here. Whee doggies~

... I want a Pyro Jack.	The clothing & armour store. You can equip your character with flashy shiny armour, or some other fashionable (and familiar miahahaha) gear...

See?! SEE?! More stuff in stores in other places... Man I need to dress up like Kyouji.
