It allows you to renumber an ID field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Note: This tool does NOT use the Advanced Filter, so be sure to apply selection unless you want to renumber every record!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This tool is located under Hub -&gt; Data Tools -&gt; Auto Increment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before starting, please use the Exporter tool to export the layer you&#8217;re about to update as a backup. It should include as a minimum the Primary ID and field to be updated for every record in TreePlotter (not just the survey you are currently looking at).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To Update by Map:<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"335\" height=\"458\" src=\"http:\/\/support.treeplotter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3244\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Layer &#8211; select the layer containing the records that you wish to update<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Field to Increment &#8211; this is the field that will be renumbered. This is usually an ID field, such as TreeID or GroupID<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(Field to Compare &#8211; leave blank)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Start At &#8211; the number to start the renumbering at ie 1 <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(Value to Compare &#8211; leave blank and do not tick)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No Field to Compare &#8211; tick this to increment all records<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Update From Map &#8211; tick this so you can choose what to update from the map<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add &#8211; choose from polygon, point or ID but we&#8217;d recommend polygon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the Add button and draw a polygon around the area to select those records<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"543\" height=\"573\" src=\"https:\/\/support.treeplotter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4728\" style=\"width:237px;height:250px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/support.treeplotter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/image.png 543w, https:\/\/support.treeplotter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/image-284x300.png 284w, https:\/\/support.treeplotter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/image-47x50.png 47w, https:\/\/support.treeplotter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/image-57x60.png 57w, https:\/\/support.treeplotter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/image-95x100.png 95w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 543px) 100vw, 543px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>NB Ensure there is a Selected box and it contains the required trees. If there are no trees shown then do not proceed as it may update more trees than you expected.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>8. Click the Go button to start processing and say yes to overwrite the records<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9. Check the data looks okay, and then also check the data in a random couple of surveys. If it has gone wrong, please inform support immediately!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a 30 second (mute) demonstration of renumbering trees.
