Communication is a key part of a healthy business, and Chat helps you achieve this within your company. With Chat, you can start and continue conversations from either a PC or a mobile device, and you have the flexibility to add or remove users from the chat as needed. This ensures clearer communication between employees. Participants are notified when a new message arrives, and messages will update to reflect as “read” once opened.
Chat history is always available for reference—simply search for the call in question and click the chat icon.
Different States for Chat
- No icon indicates that there is no chat created within that call.
- A white chat bubble will appear when the call chat is created – white means there are no new messages, or all messages have been read.
- The bubble turning blue means that there are unread messages.
User access to Chat
Managers:
- Can view chats on any call but do not automatically join the chat.
- Can join a chat at any time.
- Join happens as soon as they send a message in the chat.
- Viewing a message / chat does not add them as a user to the chat.
Dispatchers (assigned to the call):
- Automatically assigned (joined) to the chat on the call when any chat message is added.
- Clear bubble if there are any chat messages on a call (but no new message).
- Blue bubble if they have an unread message.
Dispatchers (not assigned to the call):
- Can view chats on any call but are not automatically joined if they are not the dispatcher.
- Clear bubble if there are “chats” on a call.
- Ability to join the chat on a call if they are not the assigned dispatcher on the call.
- Join happens as soon as they send a message in the chat.
- Blue bubble (after they join) if there is a new unread message (unread by them).
- Viewing a message / chat does not join a user into the chat.
Drivers:
- Can only view chats on their assigned calls.
Chat View
Web view:
A numbered icon will appear next to the tow truck icon in the top right corner to signal when a chat has a new message.
This allows you to access chats from anywhere on the site.
The message will update when it is registered as “seen” by the other user in the chat.
iPhone:
- Users will receive an audible alert and in app badge notifying them of new chat messages.
- The chat can be accessed from the call’s details page or from the app’s Menu page.
Android:
- Users will receive an audible alert for new chat messages.
- The chat can be accessed from the call’s details page or from the sidebar options in the app.
