Depending on how the EDA was collected, the method of converting it from volts to \u03bcS will be different. This article details the various ways to scale data from volts to microsiemens in BioLab and the EDA Analysis application.<\/p>\n<p>If you are acquiring data with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mindwaretech.com\/product_detail.asp?ItemID=2047\">MindWare Mobile<\/a>, this data is scaled to the appropriate units automatically.\u00a0However if you are using different hardware such as a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mindwaretech.com\/product_detail.asp?ItemID=1512\">BioNex<\/a>\u00a0Impedance Cardiograph &amp; GSC\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mindwaretech.com\/knowledge-base\/kb0057\/\">module<\/a>\u00a0or a 3rd party system, you have to scale this data manually.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>BioNex Scaling Values<\/h2>\n<p>EDA data is scaled from volts to microsiemens by multiplying it by the chosen gain. On the <strong>Impedance Cardiograph &amp; GSC<\/strong> and <strong>3 Channel Bio &amp; GSC\u00a0<\/strong>modules, this gain is programmable and typically set to the values <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mindwaretech.com\/knowledge-base\/kb0052\/\">listed here<\/a>. If you are using the\u00a0<strong>Impedance Cardiograph &amp; GSC 2<\/strong> module, the gain is fixed at 10, so you will always multiply the signal by 10.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Scaling data in BioLab<\/h2>\n<p>Scaling cardiac impedance data in BioLab allows you to view the data in actual units during acquisition, which can be useful in determining data quality. Then set\u00a0<strong>m (slope)<\/strong> equal to the selected Gain. In this case,\u00a0<strong>m = 10<\/strong>. The field used to scale the data is found on the\u00a0<strong>EDA Calibration Settings<\/strong> tab, labeled <strong>\u03bcS\/Volt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"bionex-impedance-cardiography-gsc-module\">BioNex Module<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Much like scaling the data in BioLab, <strong>\u03bc<\/strong><strong>S\/Volt<\/strong> should be set to the channel gain at which the skin conductance data was collected. By default, the EDA application will populate this value automatically.
