When you use up all your data for the month, your internet will be slower, until the next month starts.
To ensure everyone has a good internet experience, Google Fi slows your internet speed to 256 kbps after you use all your data. Your plan determines the amount of fast data you receive. You can’t change this.
- Flexible plan: 15 GB of fast data
- Unlimited Essentials plan: 30 GB of fast data
- Unlimited Standard plan: 50 GB of fast data
- Unlimited Premium plan: 100 GB of fast data
The high-speed hotspot tethering allowance varies for each plan and is different from the plan's overall fast data limit.
- Flexible plan: Hotspot tethering counts towards your monthly data usage
- Unlimited Essentials plan: 30 GB limit for high-speed hotspot tethering
- Unlimited Standard plan: 25 GB limit for high-speed hotspot tethering
- Unlimited Premium plan: 50 GB limit for high-speed hotspot tethering
Manage your group plan
Each member has a separate data limit on group plans. One person's data use doesn't affect other members. Only the plan owner can purchase additional fast data for all members.
Get faster data
Important: You can’t turn off faster data for the rest of the month once started.
You can buy additional fast data for $10 per GB after you use your data allowance. This covers the rest of the month.
- On your phone, open the Google Fi app
.
- Go to Account
Get full speed.
This option is available after you pay your first Google Fi bill. You must settle your outstanding balance to obtain faster data beforehand.
Watching videos on Google Fi
Google Fi makes all your videos look as good as possible.
- On the Flexible plan: You and the video app decide how good the video looks.
- On Unlimited Essentials, Unlimited Standard, or Unlimited Premium plans:
- Google Fi tries to make videos look good without using too much data, so they might look like they're on a DVD (480p).
- Some video apps might not work with this.
