Look at me, I'm posting!! Not guaranteeing that you will find it interesting, however, hahahaha.

Eh, whatever. Was about as bad as the "Kate goes off to be an FBI agent... no wait, never mind, you're fired." storyline from the beginning of the season. (Y'all forgot about that stupid plot, didn't you. Uh-huh.) But really, dude from Warehouse 13 knows you *actually* got married, why didn't you know, *Detective*? Sheesh. And obviously, Castle is not dead because A) S7 and B) the show is called "Castle". Whatevs. I hope syxp is right and this is 3XK. He's usually pretty interesting.

That was a lot more violent than 8 PM shows normally are. Not that I'm complaining, because I will be forever grateful to them for giving us Melinda May and her epic use of power tools to dole out Ward's beat-down. Ugh, that scene with Skye and Ward... the only time he can summon a little independent thought and it's to make rape-y insinuations. UGH. I hope we never see him again. Yucky yuck. I'd be OK if Fitz is a casualty. I mean, I want him to be OK, but it would be more realistic if he wasn't. Also, I am much more interested in Tripp/Simmons, than Fitz/Simmons. Also, also, Tripp better be a permanent member of TeamCoulson next season, because he is made of win. And I have to say, Paxton was a great casting choice - he really went all out crazy at the end, and it was pretty fabulous. And his reveal as Hydra was more interesting to me than Ward's because he made me like Garrett and want to believe that TeamCoulson finally had someone else on their side. Whereas I didn't care about Cardboard Ward (Cardward, if you will) AT ALL before that, and then just wanted May to hurt him a lot, after the reveal. Anyway, I'm on board for S2! And Agent Carter!!! Eeeeee!

Also in TV news, is anyone watching TURN on AMC? I'm really kind of digging it! It's well-acted with strong production values, though I don't know how historically accurate it is (I'm definitely not a Revolutionary War expert). But Jaimie Bell! And Angus MacFadyen! And Owen from Torchwood! And Aldis Hodge! Anyway, the baby spy craft is interesting - like a lot of things in the Revolutionary War, I think the Americans just bumbled along and got lucky. :)

I meant to get this post up yesterday, but a near-migraine slowed me down (hooray for Excedrin Migraine, which kept it from going to full-on migraine!). Anyway, I went to the Emerald City ComicCon on Sunday and had a blast! I went with a friend who is not fannish AT ALL, but her daughter, C, is. And as honorary auntie, I have to nurture fannishness! :) C went as a very cool femme Edward Scissorhands. I wore my Boba Fett t-shirt, and Stargate necklace and various fannish buttons on my backpack. :) And since they were running late, I had a good hour by myself when I first arrived, so I bee-lined to RDA's signing line... only to find that he wasn't signing clothing (I brought a Stargate tshirt for him to sign), or anything not flat and smooth (so also "no" to signing the Jack action figure that I brought). And since RDA had the highest signing fee ($85) of the convention, I decided to skip it. But I did *see* him signing. (Of course the con minions would not let you take pics of anyone signing. Actually, the con minions were really pretty awful all around. You had to be *constantly* moving. If you stopped for any reason, someone was there to yell at you to "Keep moving, people!" So that made it kind of hard to take pics of cosplayers or you know, look at anything. Hrumph.)

I did get a few good cosplay shots, which you can see on Tumblr here and here. I saw a lot of Black Widows, lots of Adventure Time characters, one awesome trio of He-Man, She-Ra, and Skeletor (but didn't get a pic, boo), and 2 Stargate cosplayers (spotted the SG1 patches, but couldn't make my way through the crowd to ask if I could get a pic). Many generic steampunkers, and an amazing Steampunk Mario and Luigi (see Tumblr pics). And, and, and! So many great costumes!

I think RDA did a panel on Friday, but not sure. I guess Osric Chau (Kevin Tran) crashed the Supernatural panel with Jim Beaver (Bobby) and Mark Sheppard (Crowley) on Saturday, so that's cool. I spotted Nichele Nichols signing too (she was right by RDA's table), but again, No informal/non-pro pictures!! We Mean It! I did meet and have a chat with John Scalzi, who was a really nice guy. I forgot he was going to be there, so I didn't bring my copies of his books, so had to buy some new ones, but that's OK because I had John sign them for my nephew (who has been really sick with some yet-undiagnosed ailment *sadface*). We talked about all the projects he's got going right now, including a graphic novel/videogame, new book, and possible TV adaption of his "Redshirts" novel (which is hilariously brilliant, go read!). I also asked him how he liked working on Stargate Universe... and he said he loved it! He said it was really neat to see the early scripts, send back his thoughts/changes, and then *see* that they actually took his notes to heart and implemented them.

I got some other good swag too, including a new Star Wars (Death Star Tech Support) tshirt, and an ECCC Exclusive "Carol Corps" Captain Marvel at the Museum of Flight tshirt. Yay!

In other fannish news, tickets have been procured for me and the fanboys to see Captain America: The Winter Soldier on Thursday... CANNOT. WAIT. Also, I had a dream last night about Jack O'Neill dreaming when he was frozen in the Ancient stasis thingy in Antarctica. Huh.

I love it when I pre-order something from Amazon and then forget when it is coming, so then when it does come, it's like Surprise! Here's a treat for you! This week it was the Thor: The Dark World blu-ray. I only saw it the once in theater - I forgot how cool all the space ships are. The Dark Elves ships remind me a little of both Wraith and Cylon ships, in that there seems to be an organic component with the sleep pods and the elevator that looks like a spine - but far less drippy organic gross interiors that both Wraith and Cylon ships have. And the fighters just pop out of the side of the main ship! Very cool. Also, the Asgardian Viking boat-fighter ships are SO COOL looking, if not exactly practical. Like you can't do barrel rolls or anything in those. But still, mad points for style.

The Marvel short was kind of boring, and I'm not sure why it wasn't on the IM3 disc? Eh, whatever. The gag reel was great tho - hahaha, Thor's cape is always getting in the way!

In other fannish news, I broke down under peer pressure and have been watching "Parks and Rec" over the last couple months. So I'm all caught up and ready to watch the new episode tonight. I'm a little disappointed thatAnn Perkins! and Chris are leaving Pawnee - hopefully not the show entirely??Besides Ron Swanson, Ann is my favorite character. Leslie is great, but man, that episode where Ann loses it an yells "You're a steamroller!!" could not be more accurate. I get kind of tired of how Leslie doesn't listen to anyone. Maybe it is because I would watch several eps in a row to get caught up, so that made it more apparent? Anyway, in my book, "good listener" is like standard friend requirement.

Time out for Taco Truck kitty update: He's standing on my desk looking out the window, and just spotted the tuxedo feral cat that roams my garden sometimes, and he is positively *vibrating* lol. It's not a particularly hostile stance; he's just very, very, very, interested. When he watches the birds he does this funny "kitty barking" thing, where he's all chill and just "mrr, mrrr.... mrrmrr....mrr". It's pretty cute. He broke another vase which was holding some curly bamboo stalks and those water bead things. So that was fun to clean up. And of course he did it while I was in the other room texting my brother about the planter breaking incident. So. No more indoor plants. *sadface*

* Veronica Mars movie, soon! Like a couple weeks!

* I finished The Monuments Men book over Christmas - such a good read. I'm kind of a WWII buff, but that was one tale I had never really heard about. That Hitler had *such* a plan for the art of Europe, waaaaay before the war. Fascinating. So I saw the movie last weekend, and eh, it was fine. They changed the names of the people because they "wanted to give them flaws and add humor" but whatever. The book is always better. I can see why they pulled it from a December release so it wouldn't be eligible for awards season. Because it's not really award-worthy, even with such a great cast. They were fine, the movie was fine... just not great.

* I also read Chris Hadfield's An Astronaut's Guide to Life On Earth, which was great. Quick, delightful read, which I recommended to my work team because there's so much good stuff about leadership and the importance of training and cultivating an attitude of lifelong learning. I wish I could have gone to his book signing in Seattle, in December, but it was just too hectic.

* In fannish reading, there's been some really good S/J fic about lately...salr323 "Retrospective" is the slow build of Sam and Jack's relationship over the seasons, and "Full Disclosure" is one of the best Threads fics I've read. And then there's my birthday fics from a_loquita ("Inner Room"), and mrspollifax ("Let Your Demons Run")! Yay, S/J fic! Keep going, fandom!

* Finally, finally!! I saw Frozen last weekend - my sis and I took the nephew (9) and niece (7). Fabulous, just as you have all said. And even though everyone is gaga about "Let It Go," the song I have stuck in my head is "Do you wanna build a snowman?/Come on, let's go and play!". Daw, so cute. Also, I heart Sven.

So the other day I was flipping channels, not in the mood to watch any of the darker shows on my DVR (Justified and Walking Dead) and kind of bored with the Olympics, when I came across a guy on a horse wearing the distinctive red coat of the RCMP. So I stopped - because *Mounties* - and it turned out I was on the Hallmark Channel, and watching their new show "When Calls the Heart". So I'm watching for a bit, and then... is that Colonel Reynolds from SG3 on my TV? OMG, there's Camulus! AND BILL LEE. This show, it's like Stargate alum jackpot! It's based on the Janette Oke books, and produced by Michael Landon Jr. so, you know, pretty overt Christian messaging (fair warning, if that's not your bag), and super family-friendly G rated. But the leads are really quite adorkable and watchable (seriously, Daniel Lissing's smirk is all kinds of dreamy) and I'm already shipping them hard. And Stargate alum! I think I've just fell into another fandom. *headdesk*

And look! Isn't this the lake/valley from SG1 S4x09 "Scorched Earth" and S6x15 "Paradise Lost" and probably others??

It reminds me a lot of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, which the BFF and I used to watch religiously when we were in college. And somewhat of Anne of Green Gables. And of a_loquita's awesome Wild West SG1 AU, Cast Your Fate to the Wind.

In other news, Taco has broken/destroyed many things (including large potted plant - dirt strewn all across the living room carpet; tall vase with many small glass beads - again, all over the room; and assorted leather furniture), but is so damn cute that I'm really having a hard time staying mad at him. Really, really, need to get his kitty door installed soon and get him outside.

Also! I got a motorized standing desk last month (so I can quickly switch between standing and sitting), and it's name is JARVIS. I KID YOU NOT. Now if it only talked to me.

Wow, it's been way too long since I've posted. The thing is, I think about posting all the time. I just don't... ever seem to do it. Lame.

Anyway, a lot has happened lately that I will try to get to at some point, but maybe just the highlights for now, so I actually get this posted.

*I kind of got laid off again but not really - one part of my contract didn't get renewed for this year, but the other project expanded to full-time, so. It's all worked out for now?

*I went to Disneyland over the New Year with my brother and SIL and the Wonder Twins, and we had a BLAST! We were celebrating a bunch of things - the twins' 9th birthday (every birthday of theirs is a huge celebration because they were born ultra-premature, at 24 weeks), my SIL finished her math textbook and sent it to the publisher, my 40th birthday - and decided that a big trip was the way to go.

*I promptly got the cold from Hell from some germy kid in Disneyland and spent the second week of January in bed, wanting to die. I'm still coughing, blech.

*This adorable little guy came to live with me a couple weeks ago. One of my college buddies' daughter started developing bad allergies, so they decided they couldn't have pets anymore, and I said I'd adopt! Meet Taco Truck - he's a 2YO mackerel tabby. He's super chatty, likes to be wherever I am (it's like having a toddler. I can't go to the bathroom by myself, I have to eat standing up, I have to mute my phone whenever I'm on a conference call because he wants to talk too), and "kitty barks" at the birds he can only watch from inside, since I'm keeping him indoors for a few weeks until he's totally settled.

*Um, I turned 40? I'm pretty fine with it, actually. I mean, I don't really feel 40? Whatever, I'm using it as an excuse to party extra hard all year. :) Thanks to everyone who sent me birthday wishes! And if you missed my birthday fic from a_loquita ("Inner Room," Sam/Jack, rated G), or mrspollifax ("Let Your Demons Run," Sam/Jack, rated Adult) you should go read them now! I'll wait. :) *squishes you girls*

*I'm going to the Emerald City Comicon this year!! There are a ton cool guests, including RDA!!! Who also has the highest autograph/photo op fee, of course. :S

*Oh, and in case you haven't heard, the SEATTLE SEAHAWKS ARE SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS!!!! Suck it, Denver! And all you pundits (which was the majority of you) who said we'd lose! *dances*

This cold that I've had for the last 85 days* can just suck it. I am so tired of coughing up a lung. Like, my abs hurt from coughing. I sound like some sort of apoplectic barking seal. At least I'm no longer running a fever. Ugh.

*OK, it's only been 7 days. LONG ENOUGH.

So I complained about the Castle storyline of Beckett in DC and even called the getting fired thing, and you guys were all "I think you're freaking out for no reason". So, I'm not going to complain about the silliness off the whole scenario and the magical happy ending of how one phone call from a buddy of a buddy of the police commissioner gets Beckett her NYPD job back. WHATEVER. This is dumb writing. At least Nathan Fillion is nice to look at.

Speaking of Nathan - I don't think a lot of you on my flist watch The Walking Dead so here's a PSA - he was on Sunday's Talking Dead, as the "super fan" guest. He was adorable and geeky as always, and I definitely want him on my team when the Zombie Apocalypse hits us.

Even though Castle has been less than stellar, I have my new favorite, Sleepy Hollow to entertain me!! Eeeeeee! Every week it GETS BETTER. And the cast is fantastic on and off screen, as evidenced by this Buzzfeed interview from NY Comic Con. I don't ship anyone yet because Abbie and Crane are the best not!sister/brother combo to fight demons since Charlie and Dean on Supernatural. So between SH, SPN, Haven, and TWD, my fantasy/horror/apocalypse TV needs are pretty well taken care of. Just need a scifi space show now, because spaceships.

I think maybe I won the date in a contest? But I was staying at his house and we seemed to know each other, so maybe it was just the dinner part that was novel? I dunno. But we walked to the restaurant hand-in-hand, and we seemed to be in downtown Vancouver. The restaurant had a small stage, and Nathan began an improve-type acting contest, and invited people to come up and act random scenes with him. The winning couple would be able to join us for dinner. So I'm watching all this from our table through the first couple of courses, wondering if he's actually going to stop and eat with me. And the chef comes out and watches with me for a bit, and goes "oh, he does this all the time; are you ready for the next course?" And Nathan just keeps acting out all these scenes - comedy, Shakespeare, stuff called out from the audience... Then Adam Baldwin shows up and sits with me and yells at the stage "Knock it off, Fillion! Your date is waiting!" But he keeps going - well past the time the restaurant closes, so I have them fix him a doggie bag and Adam walks me home. At the door he says, "Nathan should show up soon. He usually gets in around 2 or 3 AM." And I'm like, I am not staying up that late. So I put the food in the fridge and go to bed.

Then the next morning I go down to his kitchen for coffee and he's sitting there eating the restaurant leftovers. And he's all "Thanks so much for getting this for me!" and then seeing that I was not impressed with his behavior the night before, apologizes profusely and tells me "I just gotta act, you know?" I rolled my eyes at him and told him that it was fine, but he was still buying me a car. Then I woke up.

So. Marvel's Agents of SHIELD isn't perfect, but so far I am entertained.

* The tech is great. StarkTech, maybe? I love the 7 Dwarves mini helicopter/scanner thingys. And Lola!! *hearts* And The Bus is fast becoming my favorite character, after Coulson.

* Speaking of The Bus, it looks to be a Boeing C-17 Globemaster, painted black with an extra set of engines/wings towards the tail. (The practicality is questionable - the intakes are pretty much inline with the front engines, so they'd just be sucking in their exhaust. But I'm wondering if, like the USS Impossible Physics helicarrier from the Avengers movie, all engines are going to be able to rotate for vertical takeoff/landing?) ANYWAY. I'm handwaving the flight mechanics. The interior is dope, and the black SHIELD eagle logo on the main wings is pretty rad looking.

* Speaking of Coulson. I'm still not sure what he is? A clone, kind of like how they brought Carson Beckett back in SGA? I am definitely curious about the magical place of Tahiti.

* The science twins are cute. Agent May is badass. The others I don't really care about, except I am curious about that throwaway line in the pilot ep about Ward's family history. A quick look into the Marvel wiki shows a couple of promising SHIELD connections: Senator Stewart Ward/Sentry, and Terrance Ward aka Trauma. So far they've been referencing a lot of stuff from the current Marvel movies, like Extremis (from IM3), and the Tesseract tech, plus Sam Jackson's Nick Fury and Agent Hill. So it would be great if they gave this new Ward character some established Marvel universe tie-in. Because other than that, he's the bland white male lead, yawn.

I had jury duty this week, and although I got called in with a group of jurors for jury selection, I ended up not making the cut. Which I am fine with. It was a criminal case (vehicular homicide / DUI), so not exactly fun stuff. So only 3.5 days not working instead of a couple of weeks! ION, Seattle just set a record for all time wettest September, and most of that rain came in the last 4 days of Sept. Plus, it came with thunder and lightning and high winds. Makes me not want to do anything but curl up with my iPad and eat soup.

Castle 6x01 "Valkyrie"

Castle 6 x 01 "Valkyrie" reaction post where I liked some stuff, but didn't love it.

The good:

The "proposal aftermath" opening scene was adorkable. THEY are adorkable. I was thrown for a second because I was not expecting the episode to start *right* where we left off, in the exact scene. I thought we'd get some "back at the station, telling everyone the news" scene and then flashbacks to her saying yes. Or the jump in time that they did, and then flashbacks to the resolution. So, that was kind of nice that they actually had the whole bumbling, flustered conversation and proposal acceptance, in the moment. Yay!

Also of the good - Castle being true to form and not being able to leave a mystery unsolved. Classified? Pffffft. He's a writer, and those kinds of rules don't apply to him, lol. I expect nothing less from him.

The not-to-my-liking:

The pacing felt off to me. They tried to cram in all the existing characters and all their storylines into small contrived chunks. Alexis back from her trip a week early to exactly coincide when Castle is back from his book tour, and oh yeah here's her new stoner boyfriend, and Castle has to be a parent, and Martha is walking away from that one, and Beckett suddenly can't come for the weekend. Castle finds an intriguing photo so must investigate and his first call is to Homicide cops (because we have to work in Esposito and Ryan!) not to someone more suited to answer research questions about a blown transformer (and in the end, Espo and Ryan go to someone more suited to answer anyway), and of course Ryan is practicing swaddling because we last hear that he and Jenny are expecting, and now that their team is halved, they are less busy than usual so he definitely has time to do that at work. It just felt way too forced to me.

Halfway through the episode I found myself saying "I just do NOT care about this new team". And if we get the old team - Espo, Ryan, Lanie, even Gates and Martha/Alexis - in these weird, taped-on mini-scenes, that's going to make me sad. One of the things that makes Castle so good is these rich, *integral* supporting characters. You made me love them, show. You can't just dump them now for some new people.

So, I am wary of how this is going to play out. Because if Beckett sticks with her new job, those secondary characters can't come with her, except in the contrived way we saw in this first episode. Old friends meeting up once in awhile, doing the occasional professional favor. And, as we saw in this episode, *Castle* can't be a part of her new job either, because it will get her fired or him nearly killed.

If, for some reason, Beckett goes back to the NYPD, that means she failed at her "big chance". Whether she was fired or left on her own, it is a huge failure. And that's a crappy thing to do to such an awesome character.

There is a third path, and I think they maybe tried to go this route with "Valkyrie"? But didn't get it right. And that would be to have Castle straddle the line, working with the boys and precinct *and* occasionally with Beckett's new team ("here, have a consulting job with the FBI since our case almost got you killed, ha ha").

Or maybe Beckett gets her own FBI team based out of NY and of course brings the boys on board. But that's a spin-off show called "Beckett," amirite?

I am all for these characters being able to stretch their wings and grow personally and professionally. I think that two people having to reconcile their professional dreams with their personal lives is modern and believable storyline; I am not knocking that at all. I just want them to do it in a way that doesn't jump the shark.

So. I am wary of how the season plays out. And also that rumor about Nathan being in a contract dispute is now making more sense and making me a touch nervous. Keep it together, show runners! You have been warned!

Shut up, I'm gonna sing

So, the Emmy Awards were kind of interesting in that there were a lot of seemingly upset wins (Jeff Daniels, Bobby Cannavale, etc.) and NPH is adorbs. But it was kind of lackluster in a lot of ways too:

* The near-absence of show clips (I mean, these awards are for performances... it'd be nice to *see* some of those)

* Elton John's performance was meh, and really I didn't understand the connection between the Liberace tribute and TV, beyond the fact that Behind the Candalabra was up for awards?

* Carrie Underwood's off-pitch rendition of "Yesterday" - ugh. I can sing that song better, and I really can't sing. Also, her performance was a salute to what, exactly? How the Beatles performance on the Ed Sullivan Show helped America stop being so depressed about the Kennedy assisination? Um, "Yesterday" is definitely not a mood-lifter.

* I thought the little rememberance speeches about departed colleagues were nice and heartfelt, but it seemed weird to highlight a few (especially Cory Monteith). I think we would have been fine with just the cello piece and list of names.

However, I think the whole show was saved by this:

Yay, Haven's back!
If Audrey and Nathan are going to be separated the entire season (as the first episode and the "on this season of Haven" promo have suggested), then I may have to start shipping Nathan/Duke. Because their reunion gave me ALL THE FEELS. That hug was serious, yo. Like the very definition of "desperate relief".

Also, Duke was kind of awesome and helpful with the problem-solving. Also, also, DWIGHT! I luff him so. I will be really pissed if they kill him off. Jordan is obviously going to make a power play for The Guard, and I'm pretty sure that it's going to end badly. Because Haven can't seem to have more than one female character (Audrey Parker), and now we have Lexi (who *is* a different person than Audrey) and Jennifer and Jordan, and no Audrey ATM. So I expect all of them to die actually or by character assassination (I mean, Jordan's most of the way there already) pretty soon. *le sigh*

Also, The Newsroom season finale!
a_loquita says it better than I can, so you should just read her reaction post. But basically, Can You Feel The Love Tonight? YES.

Also, I am nervous that such a perfect wrap up means no S3, especially since HBO and Sorkin haven't worked out a schedule yet.

Finally, Burn Notice ended for good. I really didn't like this last season's storyline. BN was at its best when the gang was helping people who needed help, on the one-off episodes, rather than the big, complicated CIA arcs. And "James" was basically the same character, same storyline John Pyper-Ferguson played on "Alphas" (Stanton Parish), head of a shadowy ultra-secret terrorist group. So this season just felt tired, definitely time to end. I figured that someone was going to die in the series finale, but hoped it was going to be Michael rather than Madeline. That was bullshit. Especially after Jesse finally got a "mom". Wah! Michael pulled a lot of dick moves this season, and everyone paid for them, especially Maddie. :(

So, I did a thing for Tumblr! Like a real art project, not just reblogging. And since we all agreed last week that Tumblr was spoilery and annoying, and we should spend more time on LJ, I am posting it here. You know, for those of you who actually are following through on "less Tumblr, more LJ" and haven't seen it yet. :S

In other news, my summer cold has gone into Week 2, and I am tired of coughing. Yuck. But the weather's been gorgeous, and I have clothes drying on the line in the sunshine, and raspberries and blueberries to pick. So, can't complain too much. How are all of you?

So Captain America's new uniform for Cap 2: Winter Soldier has hit the interwebs, and I kinda like it.

It's much closer to his WWII uniform, and way less stylized than the Avengers look. Though I was not a fan of the red boots of the Avengers uni, the uniform itself fit Chris Evans like a glove, and I am a definite fan of that! But these boots are much better. And since he's an "agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." in Cap 2, it makes sense to have it less colorful (no red)/more muted. More comic book/movie uniform breakdown here.

Is anyone else watching Orphan Black (BBC America)? I am really digging it. I'm on episode, um, 5? I think? Cool mix of scifi and mystery, and a great female lead. It has some nudity and sexual content, so not for the kiddies. But after Game of Thrones, everything seems PG. o_O

Hope all the USAers on my flist had nice Memorial Day Weekends! Mine was mostly spent indoors, since it was pretty rainy. :( But the rain enabled me to have a guilt-free WWII movie/The Unit-watching marathon yesterday, so that was good.

Longmire S2 premiered yesterday!
The beginning bit with the bison was the best part. (OK, when The Ferg squeezed in next to Vic on the bench outside their office - that was pretty adorable. And the ending, when Branch asks if Walt is dead, and Walt's eyes crack open "Not yet." LOL.) In between those times though, I felt like the pacing was off - either too fast or too slow. And the crashing music that sounds like gunfire had me confused if someone was shooting at Walt or not. But the "voices" in Walt's head... that was pretty interesting. I kind of wished it had been a 2-hr premiere so they could have explored those stories a bit more. But I suppose that will happen over the course of the season. Anyway, yay Walt and Vic and The Ferg! Boo, Branch and your smarmy election ads.

Ugh, my productivity, my motivation for work and chores, and anything responsible, has been in the toilet lately. I'm a procrastinator by nature, but it's been really bad the past few weeks. How do you guys regain focus and drive? I've been trying to "unplug" on the weekends, but that doesn't seem to be helping - I just find something else to waste my time on :S

Three things Stargate:

1. I adore Autocowrecks (and Failbook!), and this recent one made me instantly think of Stargate. Like if someone outside the program texted this to Jack. How hard would it be for him to NOT reply with something along the lines of, "Actually, Ra was a snaky sonuvabitch." LOL.

2. This headline also made me instantly think "Stargate": NORAD wins annual CF hockey championship

HAMMOND: Colonel O'Neill, I am not going to rework the mission schedule to accommodate your hockey match!

JACK: But sir, you don't understand! Over half the NORAD team members come from the SGC! And it's the playoffs!

HAMMOND: Sorry, Jack. The fate of the galaxy trumps hockey.

JACK: NOT TO THE CANADIANS, SIR.

3. Played through Episode 1 of the new Stargate: Unleashed game on my iPad - it's fun! And with the principal actors voicing the characters, I feel like I am watching new Stargate! I found myself shouting "DANIEL! Stop dying/getting caught by the bad guys!" a lot, but most of that is my fault, since I am directionally-challenged and forget where I'm supposed to be going, LOL. I like that you can switch weapons, but I'm really hoping that we get to play Teal'c/fire a staff weapon in the next episodes. And I love that one of Jack's usual options/choices for dialog is "Use C-4". Heh. And zomg, the ending! So shippy!!! JACK ISN'T GOING TO LEAVE SAM BEHIND! Really hoping the next episode comes out soon!

Switching fandoms now - Monday's episode of Castle was meh. But nice to have it back. Three weeks was too long! Also, I need to add "Et tu, bro?" to my list of Icons To Make. Oh Espo, you're the best! Also adding to the list - Tim Gunn from Project Runway: "I smell chaos and bedlam!" HA!

I've watched both the new Iron Man 3 trailer and the Supernatural Shake vid (SPN cast and crew does the Harlem Shake meme) approximately a zillion times since yesterday. I regret nothing!

Speaking of SPN I feel like they are hitting it out of the park this season! I love that they have a "bat cave" now - one of the most moving moments of the whole series was Dean getting all excited about decorating *his* room, having never had a room of his own, his entire life. Adorbs. I'm not sure why they haven't moved Kevin to the bat cave yet - seems like it would be more secure than the boat? Plus he would have more resources for translating the tablet. Hmm. I am definitely enjoying the tantalizing snippets of Amanda Tapping on my screen again, and maybe the best move they've made was bringing back Felicia Day for another ep. Because Felicia Day makes everything better. And she posted on her Tumblr today that she's in Vancouver filming for SPN again - w00t! So, pretty show is pretty and fun again, yay!

Who else is watching "Inside Combat Rescue" on Nat Geo, anyone? It's sooooo good, you guys. The Air Force gets a bad rap about being the pansies of the US military branches, but no one could call the PJs pansies, especially when they risk everything "So That Others May Live". Dudes are hardcore. I'm no medical professional, but I would think it would be incredibly difficult under regular circumstances to preform emergency procedures like inserting a chest dart so that a guy with collapsed lungs can breathe, let alone on a moving helicopter, under fire. Eeep.

Things are starting to bud out in the garden! Snowdrops are just about finished and the daffodils just about to start. Then tulips after that! I need to get out there and try to get ahead of the shot weed, which appears to be epic again this year, ugh. One of my friends gave me these fabulous hot pink rain boots for my birthday, so I will be gardening in style this spring!

Hey, did anyone watch Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome on Sunday? I didn't watch the webisodes, so it was all new to me. I thought the spaceship pr0n was pretty excellent - the Raptor-Raider dogfight through the derelict Battlestar was especially hot. Some of the people-greenscreen CGI was a little wonky though. And the story was maybe not as up to par with the rebooted series, but not bad. Made me want to rewatch S1, at least. :)

1. I don't like not knowing what the cool kids are talking about, so I have mainlined The Lizzie Bennet Diaries over the past week and a half and now I'm all caught up and just as enamored with it as you all are.

BTDubs, I kind of hate you guys now because now I have to WAIT for new episodes, like for DAYS. And even when there is new, it is like four minutes and that is just not ENOUGH.

1. Guess what? I'm still alive! Yay! :)

2. I've had Semagic open to create a post for, oh, about a month. The thing is, for work, I deal with content all day long. Content management, content creation, content design. And lately, work has been unbelievably busy, so by the time I shut my work computer down for the day I really, really don't want to look at a computer again. :( Which sucks, because I miss you guys, I miss fandom. *le sigh*

3. I've been keeping up with Tumblr marginally better than LJ. Looking at pretty pictures is less taxing on my brain, lol. Anyway, if anyone here wants to find me there, I'm http://supplyship.tumblr.com/

4. For my birthday every year, my friend B gets me tickets to the Seattle Science Fiction and Fantasy Short Film Festival. Lots of great entries this year, but overall they seemed darker than usual. Giant Monster Playset was my favorite!

5. I've seen 5 of of the 9 Oscar nominated films (Argo, Life of Pi, Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook, and Zero Dark Thirty). Hopefully I'll see the rest before the 24th (well, except Django Unchained. I don't watch Tarantino movies). Not sure who is going to win... Argo, compared to ZD30 (of which we also know the ending going in), I think was the more tense and well-balanced movie. I'm glad it's winning awards but I'm not sure it's going to pull off the Oscar? Life of Pi is a lock for Cinematography, because that film is *gorgeous*, but probably not Best Pic. I think it's between Argo and Lincoln. Hmm. You guys have any predictions?

6. So TNT is showing Castle eps on Tues and Weds nights, and I've had it on while I make dinner and stuff. I've complained before about Beckett's highly impractical 5 inch heel boots. Just the comfort factor (running in those things?) makes me cringe. But watching back to back episodes made me realize that they are also *loud*. In reality, she wouldn't be able to sneak up on anyone. In the show, all the bad guys are obviously deaf. Eh, suspension of disbelief I guess. Stana's hair however... très sexy the last few seasons. Watching the early seasons, the short hair and the in-between hair - it's like she's a completely different person! (Yes, this is about as deep as I get for this show. It's just my silly, fun, pretty show.)
