Crop your image,and If you want sharpen it.

1 Duplicate your base and set it to screen at 25% to make it brighter.

2 Create a new layer (Shift + Ctrl + N) and fill it with the color eac9ce,duplicate it once,and set the first one to overlay at 65%,and the second one to multiply at 15%,to give it a pinkish tone.

>

3 Create a new layer (Shift + Ctrl + N) and fill it with the color f4e3c6,set it to burn at 25%.

>

4 To give the image more contrast duplicate your base,drag it to the top and set it to overlay at 25% .

>

5 Merge Down everything(Ctrl + M) and go to Color Balance(Colors>Color Balance) and put these settings to make the colours a bit more intense

Midtones;5,0,10,

6 Finally to give the icon more depth create a new layer (Shift + Ctrl + N) l and fill it with 9a9a9a,set it to burn at 15% .

We are going to try the colouring of this icon by princessbloomy. that was requested by davyjonessays in coloring_help
Thiscolouring might not work for all kind of images,and you will have to change a lot of the settings

>
1. The image is too bright,so we need to make it darker.

Levels
110,0.35,255

>
2. Hue sat
Master:
Saturation: +25

That was because the image needed a little more of saturation.

The next layer is going to make the icon a little,just a little blue.

3. New Layer: fill with #4ee0fb set to multiply at 15%

The next two steps are going to make it brighter and with more contrast,as well as give the skin a stronger color.

4. Duplicate your base,drag it to the top and set it to overlay at 100%

5. New layer, fill with f#6c792 set to burn at 50%

6. New layer, fill with #663705,set your layer to screen at 15% ,and then duplicate it and set it to substract at 30%

(If Im not wrong for Photoshop users you should use only one layer and set it to exclusion at 30%)

The original icon is a little more bright so we need to fix that:

7.Duplicate your base drag it to the top and set it to screen at 35%

Merge Down (ctrl + m)

It looks a lot like the original now,but the bright areas,in this case the cheeks,are too yellow:

I started using this picture of Kate Beckinsale.

Step 1:

Crop it,sharpen it and do whatever you want so it can look nice ;)

Step 2:

Duplicate your base and set it to Screen at %50

Step 3:

Duplicate your base ,bring it to the top and set it to Overlay at %50

Step 4:

Copy Visible(Shift + Ctrl +C) ,Paste it on the top of your layers(Ctrl + V)

Channel Mixer:

Red: 175,-100,-10
Green: -5,104,6
Blue:5,30,70

Step 5:

Set that layer to Darken Only at %100. (In Phtoshop Darken Only is probably just Darken)
