I just have a very sensitive issue up for debate. I do not intend any sort of discrimination whatsoever.

As a non-asian here - white girl here -, I accept that I'm out of the ordinary in Super Junior or even DBSK's group of fans. I never really thought about it how odd it is. However I met this girl today (she had just come from Korea a few years ago) and we started chatting about music and I casually mentioned K-Pop and Super Junior, wondering if she'd know them.

She looked absolutely shocked that I listened to them or how I ever heard of them. I acknowledge I do not know Korean but I research the translations and use subtitles for everything but I wonder if I am looked down upon for listening or even trying. I felt embarassed from her expression and felt judged. Can't everyone enjoy their music? I'm wondering what everyone thinks.

EDIT: I would like to thank everyone for their opinions and input! I read every single one thoroughly and appreciated. I'm sorry my homework does not allow me to reply to every single one tonight so I thought it would be just be fair to post one massive thank you here. Thank you everyone, it was much appreciated and gave my heart little warm fuzzies, hehe.

I realize how silly and insignificant my little question could seem but I never realized how much others could feel the same way. It goes two ways- I also gained understanding from an asian person's point of view and both the industry- it's very true how K-Pop and SM aren't as large as they seem to be so it should be surprising they've reached America so quickly. We all have opinions and anyone should be able to like whatever music they like, regardless of who you are, right?

Wondering what's up with the subject of this entry? Well, for my final research paper in my Anthropology of Gender, Sexuality, and the Body, I decided to tackle a subject I've always been curious about: the marketing of male homosexuality in Asia and the women who love it. Ever since I got into fandom (anime, live action, music, etc.), I've noticed a ridiculous amount of fans are into the yaoi/shounen-ai thing. And I've wondered what it is about that particular subgenre that makes it so popular that Asia (Japan and Korea especially) will market so much of their entertainment towards that fanbase. So for part of the research, I have a few questions that I would like as many people as possible to answer, whether or not they like this particular subgenre; the fact that I'm not into yaoi yet know so much about it can actually be more telling than 10 seasoned yaoi fans raving about it.

I've already done a smaller paper on this earlier in the class; it was a 10-page paper based around two interviews and the analyzing of two media examples pertaining to my subject. My professor loved the paper and seemed very interested, so I want to tackle it on a larger scope. This final paper is at least 15 pages and has to draw on at least 5 individual interviews, 5 observations, and 5 scholarly articles. I have almost all of that, but supplementary information would be a HUGE help. The glossary had to be included, because throughout the interviews there were many fandom terms used that a regular person would never understand. Now I know why people who aren’t into this kind of thing always look at me and my friends all crazy; we might as well actually be speaking Japanese or Korean for all the crazy terminology that we use.

Nothing really complicated - back when New X-man was still running, Kangin did a Star Battle thing with Sungmin, Shindong and Donghae. (It aired on 070121, although I don't know the episode number.)

Yesterday, half of the Suju was at Sukira for the 1st hour : Siwon, Yesung, Ryeowook, Donghae and Kibum.

1st Hour

TT - A most full/crowded group of Korean stars from the past up until the present will come to HCM city to perform in the Viet-Korea Friendship concert* during the evening of 3-7 at the Phú Thọ Stadium**.

The Viet-Korea Friendship concert* is organized by the Ministry of Culture and Korean Tourism to commemorate 15 years since the establishment of foreign affairs between the two countries. Korea will recognize these national top stars and groups that will appear: Seo Ji Young, Wonder Girls, Paran, Super Junior T, Chae Yeon, Poppin Hyunjoon, Jeon Jin, Baek Ji Young, Lee Jeon Hyun, Yoon Hyung Ryeol... and as a specialty, there will be two famous stars KangTa and Lee Hyo Ree***.

A number of Vietnamese singers will be invited to take part in this event. It is expected that there will be 6000 spectators (if all tickets are sold out) and the Korean channel SBS will record the night of the performance.

SJzip.com and Wol have come together to bring you the Saturnian Light. It's a lightstick shaped like Saturn. It comes in either white or blue, but both colors still light up with a blue color. SJzip is selling them from Korea. So, taking the high international shipping costs into mind, I decided to try to make a survey for people that want one, but don't live in Korea. If you live in the US and were to order one light individually, it would cost you approximately $30. Hopefully with this system, we can greatly reduce the individual price we all would pay in order to get this light. :]

I will be selling the lightsticks for $8~$12 SHIPPED.

I will try to make it so that I can sell it to you for the cheapest price possible. The only reason I have such a wide price estimate now, is to give me somewhat of a buffer zone just in case I don't get a lot of orders. The more orders I get, the cheaper the price will be. Please keep in mind all the expenses you will be paying for; the light itself, shipping fees from Korea to me (mathematically, this overall cost will be split between everyone that buys a lighstick), and the shipping fee from me to you.

Each order comes with a lightstick (white or blue) and a small carrying bag.

Well, hello everyone. :D

I've come to the realization that there's no Super Junior rating community (and if there is, it's very well-hidden.) I was really suprised, you know, since there's pretty much a rating community for EVERYTHING..

I'm mod at another rating community (tenipuri_rating) and I was thinking, well, why don't we set up one?

For the curious, a rating community is... well, you post up an application, a bit like a meme, saying various things, for example likes, dislikes, goals, etc. Then, based on your answers, other members vote on which Super Junior member you're most like. For example, if somewhere in your application you mentioned being a bit narcisstic and bitchy, people might vote you most like Heechul. It's like those silly Quizilla quizzes, except with the feedback of a lot more people.

I'd be needing:
* Co-mods, people willing to help me run said community. These types of communities pretty much run themselves; their main job would be to stamp members once they've gotten 10 votes.
(I've gotten offers from starlightflower, audacitas, and jiyongism, which should be awesome. :D)

* Talented graphic-makers who'd be willing to make the 13 member stamps, and probably a layout for the community. (So far, I've got omfg_its_tiffy to do the member stamps, and taeik to take care of the layout. It'll be awesome.)

Anyone else keen on the idea? Are there any objections? It seems like, once upon a time, there WAS a community called suju_rating, but it's since been deleted and in need of a purge.

I've been searching some Clubboxes for them, but I can't find them on superjunior or sjfullhouse, and I can't get into the prettysyuju one because I need some kind of membership level (does anyone know what that's about)? Any kind of info/help is appreciated, even if someone finds it on a CB and points me to it, that would be great. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Also, does anyone know if LQ versions of Rainbow Romance episodes exist? (I'm only looking for one)
