Parking Study Update

Sunset Beach staff, including fire, public works, police, and town administration, met with professionals from Bolton and Menk, who have been contracted by the town to conduct an island traffic and parking study. As you will see in the presentation, several areas were identified that will be the focus of this study.

The priority is safety for our pedestrians and the motoring public. We also want to provide clearly marked parking areas that are easy to access and do not interfere with resident’s quality of life.

We are excited to kick this project off and we will continue to update you as the study progresses.

System Pressure and Boil Water Advisory

System Pressure & Boil Water Advisory for 38th St
03.24.2026 - System Pressure Advisory – 38th Street, Sunset Beach
PWS ID No. NC-04-10045

The water consumers of Brunswick County Public Utilities along 38th Street, Sunset Beach located at:
  • 38th Street (All addresses)
are experiencing periods of low water pressure and outages caused by a water main break. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increase the potential for back-siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.

Until further notice, Brunswick County Public Utilities and the NC Division of Water Resources advise consumers to boil all water or use bottled water for human consumption. Consumption includes drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation. Vigorous boiling for one (1) minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.

Approximately thirty (32) connections have been affected. Affected customers will be notified by News Flash and ReadyBrunswick. These are residential connections.

This advisory will remain in effect until further written notification is issued. Brunswick County will provide additional information when this advisory is lifted.

For additional questions, please call:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm: (910) 253-2657
After Hours or Holidays: (910) 755-7921, (910) 371-3490, or (910) 454-0512

Carmel’s steadfast leadership, deep commitment to conservation, and tireless efforts have played an essential role in protecting our coastal environment and its most vulnerable marine species.

Each year, she trains and supervises over 200 volunteers, leads season‑long beach patrols, and serves as a trusted resource for environmental awareness throughout the community.
Her passion, compassion, and scientific insight have inspired generations and elevated public understanding of the critical role we all play in preserving our shoreline.
