I cooked a turkey in my oven. I have a feature for slow cooking in the oven. I would never be able to fit a whole turkey in even my 7 quart crockpot. This is mostly a test to see if I remember my password correctly.

Mac os Snow Leopard

I just updated to Snow Leopard last night. It has been a strange experience, to say the least. First, I lost about half my screensavers to incompatibility. I was able to find updates for a number of them, but some of the good ones are not updated yet.
Then I had various trouble with Mail. First, this morning, it kept asking for my password, and then when I installed the update, it said I didn't have the right version of Mail for Snow Leopard. I haven't been able to re-install it, because I don't know where it is on the Snow Leopard disc, if it's there at all. If I found it on the old discs, it would be an even older version.

Thanks, Catuuy. Someday, I'll make that list of fics by Jessa L'rynn she asked for. I haven't forgotten, I just haven't done it.
I did a roast for supper tonight, it was sort of using a recipe from cook's illustrated with the wrong cut of meat. It turned out pretty good, though. i can't cut meat thinly, though, and that's a bit of a problem. Next time, I'll get out the food slicer and hope I don't slice myself as well.

Not spicy creole hotdogs my version

2 or 3 onions, sliced
28 oz can of tomatoes, chopped or 2 smaller cans of tomatoes stewed is good too undrained
1/4 tsp sugar this helps to lessen the acidity and shouldn't make it sweet
1/2 tsp liquid smoke or to taste
1 tsp italian seasoning if you aren't using stewed tomatoes

Put above ingredients in slow cooker. Cook on high for 4 hours. Then add:
4 oz cooked crumbled bacon
8 oz hotdogs or more if you want Someday I'm going to try polish sausage in this
8 oz fresh mushrooms, optional

Cook for another hour or until onions and mushrooms are done, and hotdogs are hot. Waiting to add the hotdogs and bacon until the end lets them keep their flavor. I've also added leftover lentils, canned spinach and other stuff. This time, I omitted the hotdogs and bacon so I could eat it on Friday.

turkey woes

I went to cook a turkey this morning, and I couldn't find the roasting pan. My uncle had moved it out of the cabinet it had been in for years, and put it on top of the other cabinets next to the dehydrator. I spent upwards of half an hour looking in the cabinets for the darn thing.
Then I couldn't find the rest of the giblets in the turkey again! These were the ones that are supposed to be in the body cavity. This is a "premium" turkey that doesn't cost any more than the regular ones of the same brand. We shall see if there aren't any more to be found.

I'm going to try another turkey when it's thawed. I've been reading a lot of fanfiction, and I really enjoyed Throughanamberfocus' latest story, "That which one cannot be without". I went to the Czech museum currently at the mall. After it was flooded, they had to move. They just have a small exhibit there. They have a lot of beautiful ornaments in the shop. I so don't need any more, but they were lovely.

Today at Mass, the priest was just finishing the part of the Palm Sunday liturgy describing the Crucifixion, when in the silence afterwards, someone's phone went off, with a piece of music I for some reason associate with race tracks. It was certainly a mood breaker. It kept going for a couple of minutes.

I just found out that there's a little thing on a story on fanfiction.net that takes you right to the end of the story. No more need for bookmarks for "what if", etc.

I cooked rice last night in the oven, using the instructions in Cooks Illustrated. I used 2 1/3 cups of turkey broth instead of water. It tastes very good.

turkey

I cooked a turkey yesterday. I couldn't find the second bag of innards in the neck. I found it after I cooked the turkey, unmelted. The liver was overcooked mush and the gizzard was half raw when I opened the bag. I will know next time that searching for five minutes really isn't enough.
