Dracula Country

Whitby North Yorkshire

This was a Well at the Abbey

Sun setting on the Church above the Town

Well hello once again to all my friends .. I have had a relaxing few days away, exploring the East Coast of one my favourite haunts that of Whitby in North Yorkshire on the edge of the North Sea.

Here I sampled the delights of fresh clean air, along with Yorkshire hospitality, and enjoyed the views sights and smells of this Historic  Fishing Town of Whitby.

To add to the experience this time around as I have been a few times to this wonderful town, the swing bridge which spans the river Esk was out of action, due to a broken part, which for a bridge over a hundred yrs old isn’t doing too bad. The awaited part was being custom made in Germany. And the town was effectively cut in half by the river going into the sea.. So the only way across town was either by free bus, which took around 10minutes or a quick 2minute boat ride across the river mouth, we chose the latter and by then end of our stay we had definitely got our sea legs as we hopped on and off the small fishing boats and ferries on wobbly jetties.

I spent time walking along the beaches and exploring the ruins of Whitby Abbey information on its history can be found by clicking these links

I just wanted to share a few photos of the spectacular Ruins more I will put in an album very soon.

Whitby is also famous for Captain Cook.

above you see Captain Cooks Statue and his Museum

Many streets are very narrow and cobbled

Here is an old steam Tram, which takes tourists around the town.

And last but not least its famous for Dracula with Author Bram Stoker. I didn’t see any Vampires though, But the skies did turn a little weird as I sat in the Abbey

I hope you enjoyed your trip with me.

Projects and Parents!

Hello My Space Friends..

I have been absent from spaces a little while, and that is because I have swopped the click of my mouse to the click of my needles

I have been busy knitting..

The last time I did any serious knitting was 28 yrs ago when my daughter was then aged 5. She is now 33 and my Son is 35.

And it has been hard not to shout from the roof tops that we are to become grandparents for the first time.

Something I didnt think would happen..

And things are going well now with my Son’s Partner who is expecting to give birth in November

So this is what I’ve been up to..

It took me just over a week, and It all came flooding back, except it took me a while to regulate my tension and stitches per inch etc.. so… forgive me if I dont get around you all as often..

But I have got bitten again by the knitting Bug!

Love and Light to you all

And Have a Wonderful Weekend

Below I added a poem that I posted in the archives a while ago now, but Ive added here for those who may not have read it..

The Miracles of Life.

From the moment of conception, you journey to be born,

Each tiny cell, knowing how to make your form..

From beating heart, to forming brain, no two humans ever the same.

Tiny little fingers, and tiny little toes,

To cute little dimples and turned up little nose.

We’re told we choose our parents, and what sort of life we’ll lead.

Even though once here we get amnesia, and in prayer to you we plead.

Our thoughts then turn back homeward, our prayers send out our plight.

Of the struggles of our journey, now we’ve travelled from your sight.

We’re this experiment of ‘Life’ upon this realm called ‘Earth’,

And we came to make a difference, so welcome you at Birth.

Everything on Earth within our cells are found

DNA and minerals throughout the Earth abound.

We forgot the basic instincts, in our souls you did engrave.

Of your ‘Conscience Voice’ to prick us, but inside you still remain.

This is why our nature is a finely balanced act,

We need to give as well as take; now nature’s fighting back.

Here we come full circle, as to our Earth we are born.

Remember we are her children; let’s bring her to a New Dawn.

Life is so very precious, so please stop the wars and strife.

Remember our new born infants, ‘And The Miracles Of Life’.

The Nine Ladies Stone Circle

Nine Ladies Stone Circle

For some time now I have wanted to visit an old place that I last visited with an uncle when I was around 9 or 10 yrs of age.. The image of this place along with literature about stone circles have been cropping up for weeks now, and as I am one to follow synchronicities and intuition, on Saturday we went to Stanton Moor on the Derbyshire Hills. The day was cloudy but very warm, as my wisps of memory kept surfacing, as we set off to find the ‘Nine Ladies Stone Circle’

My hubby drove following the very narrow lanes with only room for one vehicle which from time to time had places wide enough to pass another vehicle, holding our breath as we went around tight corners hoping that we didn’t meet another vehicle coming in the opposite direction. We eventually found the Quarry which we had read about on the net, and so knew we were not far from it.. Although we managed to miss the main shorter entrance route, we followed our noses and headed off into the Woods and along the moors following the rough tracks, and enjoying the stunning views along the way..

We soon found a notice board giving us a walker’s route map, and knew we were heading the right direction.

I took some pictures along the way of the beautiful views over Rowsley .  I was extremely pleased with myself, as I felt full of energy, walking steadily, not rushing, talking in all that nature was offering, enjoying the butterflies, grasshoppers and the birds chirping over head as well as the odd sheep and moorland with its foxgloves and bracken, heathers and Bilberries.

After around an hour’s walk we entered a small thicket of wood, and as we did so, I felt the air and energy almost instantly change. The breeze we had enjoyed died down, and the air became very still and peaceful. I held out my hands palms down to the ground as I walked, I could feel the energies making my hands tingle as my heart beat that bit faster. Even my Hubby said he too had felt the shift in energy and commented how peaceful the place felt.

As we walked through the woods we saw families camping, with hammocks strung, and as we got closer to the Stone circle a young courting couple were sat holding hands in the centre, absorbing the energies this ancient site had to offer..

They obligingly moved while we took a few photos and we then joined them in the centre, sitting crossed legged I too then absorbed the peace this circle offered, and sent up my own meditative thoughts. Later we  the couple and I exchanged a few words of the original purpose for these stone circles, and pondered on the ancient ceremonies which took place at such sites. And discussed the energies felt. But I felt nothing but peace.

I felt slightly envious of this young couple who had camped there the previous night, and who said that this place held such tranquil and calm vibrations even in the dead of night. Wishing that I could stay longer and absorb more of this portal of energy.

I know that I was meant to travel once again to this site, as it awakened a new sense of purpose and peacefulness within me, that I hadn’t felt in weeks. As I came away I saw the offerings people and their own ceremonies had made to a small oak tree, as they tied ribbons, flowers and crystals to the tree. It did my heart good to know that many still on this earth understood the old ways of offerings to our Earth Mother, and connecting to the energies many have forgotten how to access and feel.

I too held the tree, adding my own thanks to this wonderful Earth, giving my own energies in exchange for the trees own healing powers, as I felt the tree pulsate beneath my hands…I  breathed in and felt invigorated and alive as I turned to leave this ancient site with a huge smile upon my face. Thanking our Earth Mother for her bountiful gifts..

The moor was once covered in Forest, of Larch, Fir and Oak trees, but was cut down in World War 1 by the First Canadian Army Women’s Corps to provide timber for the trenches in France.

Here is a picture of the Stone from the Quarry, used for building today.

Poem: Moon Magic

Photobucket

Moon Magic

Reaching out with thoughts entwined

In every corner of my mind

You fill my waking world

And in my Dreams our love unfurls

I wonder if you know just how

Your light reaches out to touch my brow

For your brightness shines on darkened sight

As I search for you every night

You are my Moon who sheds warm glow

And you follow me where ere I go

Reflecting bright on rippled lake

Never you will I forsake

When you are full and brightly shine

You bring your magic, that’s when I’m thine

Bewitched between the realms above

Caught in your spell of Moonbeams love

And even when those clouds do pass

You know I’m yours, even though alas

I’m Earthbound held tight in circles ring

Just know my love; it’s for you I sing

A melody so sweet, so slow

For the day when once more I feel your glow

Upon my face in sweet embrace

Your moonlight shadow I shall trace

And as the dawn her head does rise

My Moon shall rest, having claimed his prize

The stars will sparkle with his joy

And I no longer shall be so coy

For in heavens bed at last we rest

To dance our dance with love and zest

Together now at last all three

The Moon, the stars to live with me.

Food Crisis Emergency in Nigeria

Food crisis emergency in Nigeria

Have we all just eaten our Sunday lunch??? Did you enjoy??  Ive just eaten mine… and my belly is full.

And my stomach was rumbling with my own words echoing “ I’m starving”… I then open up my monthly Email News from one of my supported Charities, Save The Children, and I Know nothing of  the feeling Starving… But the people of Niger do….

I  haven’t a clue what it must be like to watch and see your Children starve to death, as you yourself cannot do anything to support yourself, as you live in a country where life seems cheap..

I wonder How many G8 meetings have there been in discussing the Third World Poverty issues, and yet the Rich get fatter, and the poor of these Nations are still dieing as a result.

Sometimes I think those rich nations just want these horrid situations to occur  as they want the populations of the world to decrease.  So long as its in a far off place far from our seeing eyes… When will we see that we are ALL ONE…. each of us connected to the other no matter how far and wide we are… Each of us are Human beings here on earth.. whereby for the grace of God we were not born upon their soil but upon our own privileged pathways.

So Just spare a thought if you will for the People in Niger.. Where they are starving to death.

Dreamwalker.

Quote from Save The Children

Almost 400,000 children in the West African country of Niger are at risk of dying of starvation over the summer. Save the Children is calling for urgent donations to its £7 million emergency fundraising appeal for the country.

Up to 380,000 children under the age of five – one in eight – are facing severe malnutrition as a result of crop failure caused by an unexpectedly long drought. At the same time food prices have soared by 30 per cent.

In a desperate attempt to get food, children as young as five are travelling hundreds of kilometres across the country to the capital, Niamey, with their families to beg on the city streets.

“Usually at this time of year when food has run out but the next harvest is yet to come, men leave the villages in search of work,” Rachel Palmer of Save the Children in Niger said. “This year women and children are leaving too because of the increased hardship families are facing. For many this means travelling great distances and results in children being forced to beg.”

More than half of Niger’s population – 7.1 million people – already don’t have enough food as a result of the food crisis. The United Nations has warned that the situation looks set to become worse than Niger’s last major food crisis in 2005.

High rates of child deaths

Niger is the poorest country in Africa and already has one of the highest child death rates in the world. One in six children don’t make it to their fifth birthday. This latest crisis will put even more children at risk.

“The Transition Government in Niger has appealed for urgent assistance, but the response from other rich governments and international donors has been slow and insufficient,” said Ibrahima Fall, Save the Children’s Country Director in Niger. “The extent of this crisis is being grossly underestimated and far more children will die if we don’t act fast.”

What we’re doing

Save the Children has launched an emergency fundraising appeal so it can scale up its work in the country and provide more families with life-saving food and medical treatment. We are urging international donors to pledge more money immediately to enable aid agencies to stave off disaster.

We have expanded our work in three remote rural areas – Zinder, Maradi and Diffa – to reach more vulnerable children and their families, so they aren’t forced to come to the cities to beg. We’re providing monthly cash transfers to help tide families over until the next harvest, as well as treating severely malnourished children.

Sending My Friends 10minutes of PEACE!

Just sending you all 10minutes of Peaceful Listening along with a few wise words
Thank you all of you for your continued Friendship.
And remember each of you are Special.

Too often in life we give up our dreams to please other people. We allow other people’s fears and concerns to direct our life. They ask us to live smaller so they can be more comfortable.

I’ve learned the greatest way to live is by living life to the fullest. It’s up to us to decide what that means and how to play it out. Each person will have a different way of living life to their fullest.

If we reach for "greatness" we may fail and get hurt along the way, but the real victory is in the reaching itself. So stretch out and open yourself up to the excitement and joy that is waiting for you.

Life is not a journey separate from ourselves; we actually are the journey. So make the most of it, drink it up, and enjoy each delicious bite. Your soul speaks to you through your dreams, guiding you to your most joyful life experiences

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
