From Breakdown to Breakthrough: Activate the Hidden Order That Follows Every Collapse
How my two-year dark night became the doorway to the greatest transformation of my life: and the universal principle that guarantees the same for you
Today I want to talk about breakthroughs; specifically, the kind that only come after total breakdowns.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ve probably heard me mention a ‘dark night of the soul’ I went through in recent years. I’m not going to rehash all the details here, but what I will say is this: starting toward the end of 2022, I hit the hardest two-year stretch of my life.
The Dark Night That Transformed Me
It began innocently enough: I was running a series of subtle energy experiments using methods new to me. I was attempting to take the technology to a new level by exploring new possibilities. Nothing dramatic at first. But without realizing it, I’d accidentally created the perfect experimental conditions for what turned out to be absolute hell. What followed was two years of overwhelming and relentless devastation, and by far the most difficult period of my life.
And yet, as brutal as it was, that breakdown has become the doorway to the biggest breakthroughs I’ve ever experienced (and am still experiencing).
But I wasn’t ready for it.
The harder I tried to fix it, the worse it got. Every tool I had (subtle energy work, consciousness practices, healing techniques, flow states, problem-solving) everything I tried to help with the situation only made it worse.
In hindsight, I see what was really happening. Those experiments had accidentally created a set of extraordinarily complex, nonlocal conditions that forced me into direct confrontation with the unconscious. With my shadow. With every repressed, unintegrated part of myself that had to be faced before any real transformation could happen.
It was an initiation.
It took two years to find a solution to that phenomenon. My nervous system was a mess. I lived with relentless energetic chaos running through my body, waves of what felt like physical torture. And worst of all, for several months during this time, I experienced spontaneous high-voltage electrical shocks. These were brutal shocks that made me cry out in pain and happened out of nowhere, sometimes dozens of times a day.
I developed a staph infection in my knee that grew into full-blown sepsis. First trip to the ER, the doctor told me it was "‘just arthritis” and sent me home with what amounted to a $100 prescription for Aleve. Five days later, I couldn’t walk. The pain was overwhelming. I called an ambulance.
Same hospital, different doctor this time. They admitted me immediately. The next day my fever rose to 107 °F. Seven or eight nurses rushed in and dowsed me from head to toe with cup after cup of bone-chilling ice water in an effort to lower my temperature.
They saved my life.
They rushed me into emergency surgery that same night, cut open my knee, and scraped out as much of the staph as they could. Followed by six weeks of IV antibiotics.
A month after the last dose, the infection returned. This time I knew why: the bacteria had burrowed into the bone, hiding in places the bloodstream, and the antibiotics, could not reach.
(By the way, I did later, very gratefully, develop a subtle energetic solution for penetrating into that bone and finally ridding my body of the staph infection about a year and a half later.)
During that period of time, I experienced really weird things where certain thoughts and images would give rise to nonlocal phenomena, energetic phenomena, that were so overwhelming, I had to monitor what I thought about so as to prevent this crazy nonlocal triggering of events from occurring.
It became a kind of prison. Mind you, anything I tried to improve the situation made it worse about 75 to 85% of the time. So there was a real sense of learned helplessness that had set in.
I’ve since come to see that this was a direct encounter with my own unconscious. That’s why every effort to control or suppress it only made things worse. The unconscious was rising to confront my conscious mind, and its power was overwhelming. Yet in surrendering to it rather than fighting it, I’ve found the entire process to be profoundly healing and transformative.
During that same stretch, I discovered that roughly $500,000–$600,000 was either owed to my business or outright stolen through fraud. I didn’t even realize the extent of it until everything collapsed into that brutal two-year window.
That’s when the betrayals surfaced. People I had worked closely with, some for years, people I had trusted completely, one of them I’d treated like family, turned out to have been defrauding the business behind my back. It took me nearly a year to fully believe it after first learning about it from a former business associate.
Looking back, I see I’d been naive to the point of negligence. I was too trusting, too lazy to do the work myself. I’d take their word without ever checking the books, without even following up, just accepting whatever they told me as truth. In hindsight, it’s clear I let blind trust and being “too busy” replace basic due diligence.
I had several hundred thousand dollars stolen from me during this period by several different business associates. It was like a cluster, it all came at once. I also experienced tremendous chaos in my business for the first six months of this nonlocal chaos emerging.
Entropy Is Only Half the Story
I had to go through a lot of bending over backwards to try and live in peace with this disruptive nonlocal phenomenon. I’m leaving out a lot of details, but when I emerged out of all this, my business was barely going. I was getting to the bottom of my savings. My health was the worst it had ever been. And over the next year of recovery, I experienced additional setbacks.
But I can tell you now, well into a year and a half after emerging from that two year ordeal, I am happier than I’ve ever been. I am healthier than I have been in a long time.
I’m absolutely convinced that all the progress I’ve made so far is part of an ongoing, ever-unfolding breakthrough, one I feel “belongs” to me.
When I say “belongs,” I don’t mean it in the usual entitled or rigid sense. I just understand how the universe operates in this regard: for every breakdown, there is a breakthrough. For every moment when entropy seems to rule the day, a counterforce can potentially restore balance.
For every instance of entropy there is a counterbalancing force of increasing order. That is the source of your breakthrough. That counterbalancing force is the source of your potential breakthrough. But here’s the thing, the breakthrough is not guaranteed unless you are aware of it and you call it forth and you realize it. You have to own it. You have to claim it.
This is related, believe it or not, to science and our current scientific paradigm as it relates to entropy. For most the last 150 years science has tended to have entropy on the brain, so to speak.
In science, time is often tied to entropy, what physicists call the ‘arrow of time.’ The story goes that time flows in only one direction because disorder keeps increasing. That’s the mainstream view.
Yet this is exactly where science has been missing half the picture, and it matters deeply for our conversation about breakdowns and breakthroughs.
A true breakthrough has to unfold in time. Mainstream physics insists that time is chained to ever-growing entropy, but the deeper truth is that time can just as easily move with increasing order. What’s been largely overlooked is the complementary counterforce, the one that drives coherence, complexity, and creation. Physics has fixated on entropy as the dominant law, while rarely acknowledging the equal and opposite force of syntropy (or negentropy) that quietly builds structure, meaning, and new possibility.
If science is right that time is purely entropic, then breakthroughs should be impossible. A genuine breakthrough is a dramatic leap in order, coherence, and meaning. So how could such a thing ever happen in a world ruled solely by entropy?
The only way it can happen is if entropy is not the whole story. There is a complementary, counterbalancing force, an equal and opposite principle that actively builds order even as entropy tears things apart.
It is the hidden glue that holds a dualistic universe together, allowing creation and breakthrough to emerge from the ongoing tension of opposites. There’s a deeper energetic law at play: entropy is always met, always counterbalanced, by negentropy.
Think of them as true yin and yang. Negentropy is not the mere absence of entropy, just as yin is not the absence of yang. Each contains the seed of the other. They interpenetrate, complete, and give rise to one another. They are complementary halves of a single, living whole.
Negentropy carries a trace of entropy within it, yet it remains the true complementary opposite, the force of increasing order, deepening harmony, and ever-denser, more coherent informational structure.
If you look back at the history of physics, especially the first half of the 20th century, when quantum mechanics and quantum electrodynamics were being developed, you’ll notice something interesting.
In some of the core mathematical equations, two time solutions always appeared: one describing waves (or causality) propagating forward in time, and another, equally valid solution, describing propagation backward in time.
Yet for decades physicists simply discarded the backward-in-time solution. The idea that causality could run from future to past was unthinkable. No one could wrap their minds around effects preceding causes, and there were no experiments even conceivable to test it. So, despite the math clearly offering both directions, the backward solution was rejected.
Today, of course, everything has changed. We now have rigorous research in precognition, retrocausation, and quantum experiments that strongly suggest information can indeed flow backward in time.
Syntropy: The Scientific Yin to Entropy’s Yang
Then in 1944, an Italian mathematician named Luigi Fantappiè argued that discarding the backward-in-time solution was an unconscious rejection of nature’s fundamental complementarity.
He proposed that the law of entropy is matched by an equal, opposite and complementary law: the law of increasing order, integration, and convergence; what he named syntropy.
Beginning in the 1950s, Soviet astrophysicist Nikolai Kozyrev offered experimental evidence for a universe that closely matched the one proposed by Fantappiè, though he came to these conclusions independently.
Kozyrev spent a great deal of time in observatories earnestly looking for the signs of entropic degradation predicted by the second law of thermodynamics, which states that entropy can never decrease in a closed system.
He looked at galaxies light-years away, objects whose light had left them billions of years ago. If the second law were absolute, those ancient star systems should show signs of running down, of crumbling into disorder over cosmic time.
Surely there would be visible evidence of that increased entropy in distant space. But Kozyrev could find none. He noticed that star systems died and appeared to be reborn. He also noticed what he called almost telepathic, resonant communication happening between certain star systems that was unexplainable by conventional physics.
And when he realized that increased entropy was not visibly evident throughout the universe, he began to run experiments in which he would create what are called irreversible processes. These are processes in which entropy can’t be reversed in a system without some kind of intervention.
Irreversible processes can also involve processes of increasing order that cannot be stopped without some kind of intervention. And he began to create some of these irreversible processes in his lab employing a sophisticated use of torsion pendulums, torsion balances and gyroscopes, some of which had been used historically in early scientific experiments to accurately detect gravity.
Kozyrev observed, detected and measured very subtle exchanges between entropy and order that were happening both locally and nonlocally.
Order and entropy are in ceaseless exchange: inside your body, in the space around you, and nonlocally across vast distances and epochs. Energy, information, and causality flow in both directions through time, continually injecting fresh order where entropy would otherwise prevail.
Because of this hidden flow, the total entropy of the universe does not relentlessly increase. The dreaded “heat death” is averted.
The cosmos remains alive, creative, and forever renewed. That was Kozyrev’s great discovery and hypothesis.
If you’re beginning to see a kind of yin and yang relationship between entropy and order, you’re on the right track. Kozyrev proposed that the continuous flow and exchange between these two opposites is the flow of time itself.
Time Is Nonlocal, And So Is Your Breakthrough
He described time as a form of energy that can manifest everywhere simultaneously, linking every part of the universe instantaneously. In other words, time is fundamentally nonlocal.
Once you grasp that, the next realization follows naturally: time is nonlinear. Kozyrev’s experiments, backed by four decades of subsequent Russian torsion-field research, consistently point to the conclusion that time is nonlocal and present everywhere at once.
Because nonlocality applies to time as well as to space, this means that all things are connected not only across space, but also across time as well. This includes the future, and the future includes your breakthrough, at least in potential. Do you see where I’m going with this?
The deeper idea is this: every breakdown carries within it a hidden negentropic twin, a complementary increase of order that is already bound as a potential to a future breakthrough. That breakthrough is part of your potential future timeline and is linked to you nonlocally across time.
Precognition is real. It’s a real thing. Whether you realize it or not, in your dreams, you are regularly receiving messages from your future self. And your future self includes your future breakthrough, at the very least as a latent potential.
Your future self is reaching back, quietly feeding you the exact insights, images, and hunches you need. The breakdown you’re in right now is the very doorway it’s using to get through to you.
Your “Long Self” and the Spiritual Bank Account
Think of your breakthrough as a deposit already waiting in a kind of spiritual bank account, an assured balance of negentropy credited to your future timeline. Right now, across time, that breakthrough is already yours in potential.
Borrowing the term “long self” from author Eric Wargo, I revise the term’s meaning to include the unbroken thread of you that reaches forward through all the years ahead, already holding the insight, the discovery, the transformation you’re moving toward.
You have a connection with that future self. And you have a connection with the breakthrough associated with that future self. That breakthrough is in your spiritual bank account, so to speak. It’s basically saying, “Hey, look. you have the capacity to manifest a higher order of consciousness as a direct, counterbalancing correlation with the breakdown you went through in the past.”
This counterbalancing breakthrough can completely transform your life and reframe that dark period into something deeply empowering. You can do that. You have that in your bank account, but you have to claim it. You have to make the withdrawal.
Your bank account doesn’t do you much good if the money just sits there. To benefit from it, you first have to realize the account exists; it’s already yours, waiting, full of funds that belong to you.
Then you have to walk up to the teller (or log in, or make the call) and actually withdraw what you need. But even that isn’t enough. You have to take the cash out of the envelope and spend it, apply it to your life in deliberate, meaningful ways, so the breakthroughs you’re meant to have can fully show up.
That part is on you.
If you never make the withdrawal and apply the funds, some breakthroughs may still find their way to you anyway, particularly the ones you’re already ripe for. But the big withdrawals, the life-changing ones can stay locked in the vault until you decide to claim them.
The full reciprocity of the breakdown-breakthrough complementarity is dynamic, never fully manifesting in your personal experience without your conscious participation, when you fully own it.
How many people in your life have you seen go through breakdowns and never receive an equal or greater breakthrough?
You have to know that it’s yours to claim. Then, you have to access it and withdraw it from your account. You have to apply it. You have to own it. You have to fully manifest it and realize it.
Grace Abounds All the More
There’s a scripture in the New Testament that says, “where sin abounded, grace did abound much more,” from the fifth chapter of Romans.
At the subatomic level, every particle has its antiparticle. In this way, creation seems fundamentally divided against itself; yet something continues to hold the universe together.
That something is grace. That is syntropy, the quiet, unstoppable movement toward greater order, coherence, and life. That is the force that keeps everything from unraveling, and the same force that gives life, and that more abundantly.
The human condition is such that we can get so ensconced with the sensory world that we believe it’s what is really real. We see all of the apparent evil and darkness in the world, and the world can seem like a crazy place.
The truth is there is a greater force that balances the opposites in this universal duality. There’s a complementary and opposite force that counterbalances entropy and breakdown. That negentropic force is your spiritual currency.
There is a principle of grace in the world capable of transforming all suffering into life and that more abundantly. With every breakdown you have the promise of an equal or greater breakthrough. But you have to own it and make it real.
This grace, this syntropy, this negentropy, is activated through your faith, through your trust that all is well. But you have to access this grace by claiming your breakthrough.
You have to boldly manifest it into the world by acknowledging and working with your higher potential for life and consciousness, your higher potential to evolve your consciousness.
This grace is expressed through the words you speak. When your internal and external verbal expression resonantly match this grace, it begins to manifest in your life; when you begin boldly proclaiming your breakthrough in everything you say and do. That’s when it begins to fully show up in your life.
In the beginning, you may not want to do this in front of other people. Before you start going off and proclaiming your breakthrough to naysayers and non-believers, you want to be having this attitude of boldly proclaiming your breakthrough in everything you say to yourself. You want to make sure you build your own local inner environment with a sense of confidence and connection to your breakthrough.
And you want to do this before you start proclaiming it publicly. But essentially, you want to get to the place of being able to boldly proclaim your breakthrough in everything you say and do. If you’re waiting for your breakthrough to show up, you’re going to be waiting for a while. Faith is active. Faith is bold. It acts in the face of a world that tells you that you’re delusional.
Faith Is the Substance of Breakthroughs Not Yet Seen
Faith calls things that are not as though they are. By expressing faith in your breakthrough, even when it looks nonexistent to the world around you, this faith becomes the very substance and stuff out of which your breakthrough is constructed.
Because you’re living it out. You’re manifesting it. You have to boldly, consciously birth your breakthrough through faith in yourself, faith in your intuition, and faith in your breakthrough, faith that all is well. And faith increases when you plant its seeds and nurture them intently for growth.
What I’m about to share with you will do exactly that: grow your faith in your coming breakthrough so that you actually and fully manifest it through inspired, faith-filled action.
