This important bill prevents the State of Idaho, its political subdivisions, or any state officers from mandating the use of face masks, face shields, or other face coverings as a means to prevent or slow the spread of a contagious or infectious disease.

The FDA classifies masks as "medical devices" (see References). They are used in surgical and dental settings to protect patients from large droplets (e.g., mucus, aka snot, and saliva) and to protect medical providers from splashes of bodily fluids.

But using a mask to protect against viruses and even small bacteria is a fool's errand, much like trying to keep mosquitos out of your yard using a chain link fence. The holes are too large, and the critters are too small! It just won't work.

As decades of scientific studies; testimony from doctors, physicists, and industrial hygienists; the abject failure of COVID mask mandates; and even labels on boxes of masks prove: Masks — even well-fitted N95 masks, much less surgical or cloth masks — do not work to prevent or slow the spread of a contagious or infectious disease.

But that's not all! Masks are a symbol of government tyranny, shame, and subjugation. And masks can harm the wearer in many ways (see References).

If people think (incorrectly) that masks work to slow or stop contagious or infectious diseases, they can wear them voluntarily. But no individual and no government should ever force a medical procedure or device — including masks — on another human being.
