_____________

With the Federal government and many corporations finally disinfecting DEI from their pores, it’s time Idaho did as well – not just halfway, but all the way.

Critical theory, the basis for DEI, is rooted in Marxism, the Frankfurt School, and Orwellian Doublethink. What SOUNDS nice is NOT nice. Instead, DEI is harmful and discriminatory. It has crept insidiously into our society, hurting the very people it purports to help.

S1048 is a good start toward rooting out DEI’s expensive and corrosive intrusion into the hearts and minds of Idaho’s higher education students and faculty, and it could be a model for other organizations as well. The bill (while a bit too long) seeks to protect freedom of inquiry and the pursuit of knowledge in Idaho's higher education by freeing students and faculty from compulsory ideological training. It prohibits:

  • DEI-based discrimination in admission and hiring;

  • DEI-related employee incentives;

  • DEI offices and officer positions;

  • Diversity training;

  • Bias reporting systems;

  • Differential treatment on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, sex, disability, or religion;

  • Forcing students to enroll in a course designed and implemented with DEI principles unless their chosen course of study is based on these concepts.

S1048 holds institutions accountable via annual reporting to the Attorney General and legislature, along with a private cause of action for injunctive relief and/or penalties from the AG's office for failure to comply – thus reducing the chance of rebranding DEI in a sneaky way. (S1048 will not affect centers and scholarships for American Indian students; not sure why this is required.)

Possible long-long-term cost savings could add up to $3.8 Million based on the 51 associated positions previously identified in Idaho's Higher Education institutions.
