Programme overview

The PhD programme in Physics at the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (FTMC) offers advanced training in fundamental and applied physics, addressing contemporary scientific challenges and enabling high-impact research.
Doctoral candidates conduct research in internationally competitive research groups and contribute to the development of innovative technologies and scientific knowledge.
The programme consists of:
Coursework – 30 ECTS (3–4 specialised study modules and transferable skills training)
Research activities, including:
- Presentation of research results at at least two international conferences
- Publication of at least two peer-reviewed scientific articles
Scientific internship
Recommended duration: at least 3 months (international mobility is encouraged)
Doctoral dissertation
Preparation and public defence of the PhD thesis
Financial Support
Doctoral students receive a state-funded doctoral stipend:
- Year 1: €1,406 per month
- Years 2–4: €1,628 per month
