Daring Fireball: Deal With It

I’m annoyed every single time I enter a date in iCal; I actually enjoy entering them in Backpack. It’s as palpable as the difference between going uphill and downhill.

Yes, I first noted this 19 years ago. Yes, it is still true. No, I will not vibe code a solution.

New episode: the paradox of old-fashioned modern olive oil.

Some olive oil millers in Provence go out of their way to develop flavours that the EU calls “defects”. These oils can't be called extra-virgin, but they sell anyway.

Rabbit Quest Geohashing 20260315-W-AY68OD

1 min read

Composite image. On the left a map showing the location of the quest and my position. On the right, the facade of the tobacco factory build by Giovanni Maria Mastai, Pope Pius IX, in 1863, an elegant building with a pediment supported by eight columns and, in front of it, a fountain with two basins, one above the other, and a gull.

A fitting rabbit for the Ides of March, the Pope’s Tobacco Factory. I did walk past, much closer to the actual Rabbit, but could not pass up the opportunity to snap what might such a significant building.
