Strawberry overview
Strawberry is a music player and music collection organizer. It is a fork of Clementine released in 2018 aimed at music collectors and audiophiles. It's written in C++ using the Qt toolkit

Cross platform and open Source. Also no vendor lock-in with Strawberry. They just added saving ratings to file tags which is such an awesome feature (not part of 1.0.0) but the next release. That way you can easily switch your music application without loosing ratings or even keep your ratings in sync across different applications.

Just what I am looking for, customizable to the right degree, very easy to set up to scan the directories as "collection". Moved on from Vox since their app lately turned too much into freemium to be pleasant even for daily use, and brings an extra edge where Pine Player and Tiny Player couldn't fill the gaps really.
A couple of minor quirks to perhaps look into would be that custom Play/pause isn't detected when app is in background. To get the EQ working I needed to go into the settings and choose the system device rather than the software layer. Also, would love to have a menu bar option for quick controls. Very happy anyhow with this little bugger.
