A dancer and a four-armed juggler “transform” the world.

In “The Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka, the protagonist Gregor Samsa wakes one morning to find himself transformed into a giant insect. Shut away from the world, he is eventually abandoned by his family and dies alone.
But what if Gregor had continued to live in his metamorphosed body? What if he had stepped outside into the world?

A juggler and a dancer undergo metamorphosis. As people engage with and move these “hands,” mutual influence emerges. In these encounters, the body, space, and perception themselves undergo further “metamorphosis.”

Profile

Nikubukashigi

A performance unit formed in 2025 by four-armed juggler ON and dancer/choreographer Sugimoto Neon, drawing on their respective artistic practices. Rooted in a deep fascination with the body itself, the unit explores the fleshy depth and uncanny nature of the body as it emerges through interactions with objects.
