The Nakamichi DR-3 is a 2-head, 3-motor stereo cassette deck produced between 1992 and 1995, lauded as a high-performance, cost-effective deck that rivaled many 3-head competitors. It features a robust Sankyo mechanism, Dolby B/C noise reduction, and a Sendust head known for excellent frequency response.

The D - 501 HYBRID is a cable with a very high shielding factor. Sonically this is one of the best cables in our program. Not really expensive and with a very high performance quality.
The D - 501 HYBRID is regularly used as a microphone cable in critical professional recordings and as a standard product for e.g. SME in England together with the prestigious Type V tonearm. This already since 1987.
The 2 signal lines are made each of 19 x 0.1 mm. very high grade OFC wires with the highest density of very pure silver coating.
 
Features
As an extra layer around the metal group, we use a Linear Structured Carbon ® (LSC) saturated coating.
The signal line insulation with the colours white and yellow is made of cell-PE, so the stripping can even be done with your fingernails to prevent wire damage on the silver coated copper strands commonly caused by mechanical stripping.
The resistance per signal lead is: 11.3 Ohm/100 meter.
The capacitance between the 2 signal leads is: 75 pF/meter.
Very flexible specially treated artificial fibres are used as a filler to prevent any harm caused by external humidity or chemicals.
The shielding consists of 96 x 0.10 mm. wires of a high grade Matched Crystal (MC) OFC with a dense and very pure silver coating and a LSC saturated helical tape.
The resistance of the shielding is: 2.3 Ohm/100 meter.
The very flexible black outer jacket is made of migration-free HULLIFLEX ® to prevent any chemical deterioration over a long period.
The type printing repeats every 25 cm. (10") to make cutting of specified lengths easy.
The external cable diameter is: 4.5 mm.

If you know about passive power filtering/surge protection products, then you've probably heard of US-based manufacturer SurgeX (part of the Ametek group). Before I retired, I was GM of the Australian distributor for this brand, and de facto Brand Manager as well. I know more about these puppies than is good for me!

The SX-2210RL is part of the rack mount family. Key info:

unit is 2RU high
it's very heavy (around 6kg)
there are 6 x Australian mains outlets on the back (max 10A drawn from any outlet, and max 10A total for all outlets)
one rear outlet is unswitched (always on), the other five are switched by the rocker on the front panel
there are 2 x 3-pin XLRs on the front panel wired (according to industry custom) to suit plug-in task lamps; a dimmer controls the output to the lamps
note: the output to the lamps is AC
these work fine with incandescent lamps, but if you use LED lamps, then you need to use lamps that have two LEDs wired back to back or that have a bridge rectifier inside (to avoid flickering)
most important: the surge protection is provided (mainly) by SurgeX's patented non-sacrificial 'reactor' inductive element - this is NOT a Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV)
MOVs (used in most surge protection products, and in almost all inexpensive products and power boards) are SACRIFICIAL protectors - they work really well, but (for a significant surge) only once
after that, any MOV-protected power board is just a power board.

So, here are the unique SurgeX technologies in this product:

ASM (Advanced Series Mode) surge protection - non-sacrificial, cancels/blocks surges without bypassing the energy to earth
COUVS (Catastrophic Over-Voltage and Under-Voltage Shutdown) - protects connected devices by powering down the outlets when mains voltage is too high or too low; restarts automatically when back in safe range
ICE (Inrush Current Elimination) - limits momentary inrush of current when you switch on (say) a high power linear power supply (charging the filter capacitors); this protects the connected equipment and reduces transients otherwise fely by other connected devices
EMI/RFI filter - reduces high-frequency noise present on the power lines (caused by things like switch mode power supplies, electric motors).

I had this installed under my study desk to protect my computer gear (I have a few other SurgeX devices protecting the audio and video products in other rooms). But it's just too big and sharp-edged for the application. My knees were not happy with all the bumps and scrapes. So I replaced it with something smaller (and, frankly, not as good).

If you're looking for a truly capable device to protect your gear, this may be your goal. As ever, do your own research. Take the lid of any new product at this price point and look at the small number of components inside. Then look inside a SurgeX ASM product (and feel the weight), and you'll understand what you're buying.

Unit is in great condition. There are a couple of tiny scratches (a few mm long) on the rack ears - but from 50cm away you won't see them.

As I said, unit is heavy and I don't have the box - so local pickup is strongly preferred...

Playback Designs Dream DAC MPD-8 Mk2 (Latest – Sept 2024) is widely regarded as one of the most natural, organically and non-fatiguing musically engaging DACs ever built. This is only 18 months old, and the only Mark 2 version I can see for sale globally.

This is not a chip based DAC. It’s a fully discrete, double differential design with completely separated circuits and power supplies for each channel. It has a third linear power supply with a true analogue volume control and high end remote control eliminating the cost of a preamp and another set of high end interconnects saving $10,000+. The analog outputs can be set to fixed values of -6db, -3db, 0db, +3db, +6db and variable for full analog volume control.

Every once in a rare while, review components manage to amaze me, and this was the case with the Playback Designs components. The range is called Dream Series, and with very good reason!

The short of it is that the A90 was designed with the aim of reducing SINAD as much as possible. If that's your thing, this is your amp. Also functions as a preamp.

For those who are familiar with the Sennheiser deep magic, these are the older, black silk baffle HD600s in the marble colourway. Some say these are a little less bitey than the newer, silver mesh variety, without being as warm as the HD650. Try them and see!

For the trainspotters, these are raised plate, black paper baffle, brass ring driver HD580 Precisions. If you want to go down the rabbit hole of Sennheiser lore to figure out if that is something that matters to you, be my guest. 😆 The upshot is that they are not quite the oldest version, but they are very, very old.

Fair to good. The drivers work perfectly, but the earpads are 80% worn, the headband pad is flat, the logo on the headband is mostly rubbed off, and the original cable is long gone. I bought them from a member here a long time ago, who I believe worked in an advertising agency and said he owned them from new. I cannot find the details. I am listing them more or less as they were supplied to me.

You are looking at a pair of pye hf25 valve mono amps!
although they look tired and the paint is horrible, these are one of the best amps made period ! The iron on these is fantastic, these have been modified years ago to el34 and 6922 by Joe Rassmussen, just look at the work underneath 
two of the main power supply caps on both monos are not in use, so only two need to be replaced on each mono and then I would think they would spring into life!
these could also be restored to their former glory, it’s been done and documented on the net.
MULLARD 5-20 is also a possibility on these chassis’s 
anyhow get an expert to look at these if you are not confident with electronics

Condition:
Good for how old they are, but they are very old. The elastics in the headband mechanism are no longer elastic, so if you have a smaller head you will need to replace them. There are suppliers or OG parts that sometimes have stock, otherwise it's AliE or mods. The cable is still in good condition and the pads, while dusty, are still supple and haven't turned into 'baked bagels' like these tend to when they dried out. They sound surprisingly good if you have an amp to drive them. Many tracks were mastered with this model so they're a great "as the produced intended" headphone for music of that era. If you own an OTL tube amp, these may go well with it.
