WHAT IS STEEL SEAL?
Steel Seal is a unique mixture of chemical compounds that have been specially blended to react under sufficient heat and pressure to create a hardened seal in the damaged area of a head gasket or block.
However there are lots of products claiming the same thing.
While there are other products that claim to repair a blown head gasket in a similar way to Steel Seal and these products are predominately comprised of little more than Sodium Silicate and dye.
Unfortunately, while using Sodium Silicate will initially seem to fix the issue, Sodium Silicate is also commonly known as ‘Liquid Glass’ or ‘Water Glass’. The reason for this is that Sodium Silicate once heated and cooled down will harden to a glass like substance. This substance cannot possibly stand up to the heat and pressure within the engine and this ‘seal’ will eventually break and the problem of the blown head gasket will return.

HEAD GASKET FAILURE SYMPTOMS
SMOKE FROM EXHAUST
White smoke coming from your exhaust after the engine has fully warmed up is one of the most common early signs of a blown head gasket. If the plume becomes thicker under acceleration, it may indicate that coolant is leaking into the combustion chamber and being burnt as steam.
Left untreated, this issue can quickly lead to overheating, engine damage, and expensive repair bills. If you’re seeing persistent white smoke, don’t ignore it.
Act fast:
Steel Seal is designed to help seal blown head gaskets, cracked cylinder heads, and minor engine block leaks without costly garage labour.
Check your symptoms and fix the problem today with Steel Seal.
Blue smoke from the exhaust typically means your engine is burning oil. This can be caused by worn valve seals, damaged piston rings, external oil leaks burning off hot components, or even something as simple as overfilled engine oil.
While blue smoke doesn’t always point directly to a head gasket failure, it can be an early warning sign that the engine is under strain, which may eventually contribute to gasket damage or reduced performance.
If you’re seeing consistent blue smoke, it’s important to diagnose the issue quickly before it escalates.
Take control of your engine health:
If oil burning is accompanied by overheating, coolant loss, or white smoke, you may be facing a head gasket problem. Use Steel Seal to avoid costly repairs and get your vehicle running reliably again.
Black smoke from your exhaust usually indicates a rich fuel mixture, meaning your engine is burning too much fuel and not enough air. Common causes include faulty injectors, air-intake restrictions, failing sensors, or issues within the fuel delivery system.
While black smoke is often related to fuelling problems rather than head gaskets, leaving the issue unresolved can lead to poor combustion, increased wear, and eventually more serious engine faults.
If black smoke is accompanied by rough running, overheating, or loss of coolant, your head gasket may also be compromised.
Don’t wait for the problem to worsen:
If you’re experiencing multiple symptoms or suspect a gasket issue, Steel Seal offers a proven, easy-to-use solution to help seal head gasket failures permanently—without a costly breakdown or garage invoice.
ENGINE OVERHEATING
One of the clearest and most immediate signs of an overheating engine is the temperature gauge climbing into the red, or a warning light appearing on your dashboard. If the gauge consistently sits above the normal operating range, it may indicate issues such as coolant loss, a failing thermostat, restricted coolant flow, or a blown head gasket allowing combustion gases into the cooling system.
Ignoring temperature warnings can lead to severe engine damage in minutes.
If your temperature gauge is rising regularly, don’t risk a breakdown.
Overheating is a key indicator of head gasket failure—Steel Seal can help you seal the leak and restore normal engine temperature without an expensive garage repair.
If your car “smells hot”, even when you can’t see visible smoke or steam, it’s a strong early warning sign that something isn’t right. Overheating can cause internal components, hoses, oils, and seals to heat beyond safe levels, producing a scorching or burning smell inside or outside the vehicle.
This can be linked to coolant escaping through a head gasket leak, reducing the system’s ability to keep the engine cool.
A hot smell is your engine asking for attention.
If you also notice coolant loss, rising temperatures, or white smoke, you may be dealing with a head gasket failure. Using Steel Seal early can help prevent the problem from escalating into a major repair.
If your engine suddenly feels sluggish, loses power under acceleration, or struggles more than usual, overheating may be the cause. When an engine runs too hot, it affects combustion efficiency, reduces power output, and increases internal stress.
A failing head gasket can create compression loss between cylinders, contributing to noticeable performance problems.
Driving with reduced performance is not only unsafe—it can also worsen the damage quickly.
Restore confidence in your engine.
If performance issues are paired with rising temperatures, coolant loss, or exhaust smoke, it’s time to act. Steel Seal offers a proven way to address head gasket issues before they become catastrophic.
LOSS OF COOLANT
Coolant plays a critical role in keeping your engine at a safe operating temperature. It continuously circulates between the engine and radiator, absorbing excess heat. If coolant levels drop due to a leak, the system can no longer regulate temperature effectively, causing the engine to overheat quickly.
Low coolant is one of the most common early signs of a failing head gasket, and ignoring it can lead to major engine damage.
If you’re losing coolant regularly, don’t wait for the warning lights.
A coolant leak may be the earliest indicator of a blown head gasket, Steel Seal can help you address the issue before it becomes a costly garage repair.
Spotting a coolant leak early can save your engine. If you notice damp patches or bright-coloured puddles under your car after parking, this is a clear sign that coolant is escaping somewhere in the system.
Check the areas above the puddle, focusing on:
Radiator hoses
Expansion tank
Radiator core
Water pump
Pipework connections
Heater hoses
If no external leak is visible but coolant keeps disappearing, it may be leaking internally, which is a strong sign of head gasket failure.
Losing coolant but can’t find a leak?
This often points to a head gasket problem—Steel Seal is designed to seal internal leaks safely and help restore proper coolant circulation.
A blown head gasket can allow coolant to leak directly into the engine’s cylinders. When this happens, the coolant is burned off through the exhaust, often seen as persistent white smoke. With coolant escaping into the combustion chamber instead of circulating through the cooling system, your engine will quickly begin to overheat.
This type of leak cannot be ignored, as it can lead to warped cylinder heads, engine failure, and extremely expensive repairs.
Take action now:
Steel Seal offers a proven solution for sealing blown head gaskets, helping you stop coolant loss, reduce overheating, and keep your vehicle on the road without the cost of a full head gasket replacement.

Latest Steel Seal Reviews
Wow head gasket went on my Corsa D 2009. Losing water, overheating and loss of power. Quotes £750 - £1200. Reviewed Steel seal and thought it was my only option. Decided to change my oil, flushed the radiator of all antifreeze. Half filled my radiator then added Steel seal then topped up with water. Started the car and waited 30 minutes. Waited till the next day and decided to try it. Oh my God. Took it a short journey. Got my power back and heating pumping beautiful hot air. Three days have gone and car starts first time and drives like a dream. Thank you Steel seal. My only options were paying £750 - £1500 or scrap the car. Now I have my car running like a dream. Thank you Steel Seal. I would recommend it to anyone. Don't think about it, get Steel seal and extend the life of your car. I am now happily back on the road.
As an owner of a workshop I have been against these type of products for years. I was wrong. My head gasket went leaking coolant to the combustion chamber while I was 200 miles from home. It was consuming about a litre of coolant every 10 minutes on idle. I followed the instructions and by the time the 30 minutes was over coolant was staying on the correct level and I was so impressed it’s been weeks and I still haven’t changed the head gasket. I will confirm these will fix what I would say is a bad head gasket failure. Perfect product. I would recommend to anyone.
I have used this in two Rover v8 blocks that had cracked, and the product has worked really well and the two engines have lived for another 40k miles so far. Excellent customer service as well.
