And that marks the end for the game and its final chapter concluded, for me it'll still live on. I will forever treasure the great moments and memories I had playing this with all of my friends and the great community.
For a game that I had zero expectations for it really went above and beyond, after booting up the game and watching that intro animation for the first time I knew I was in for a hell of a ride. The story, the characters, the fun gameplay loop, it was all amazing. Battleborn is one of my favourite games and I'm so thankful to have experienced it.
May we see Solus in the future.

Warning:
This is not a complete game, consider this a tech demo since this game was done in a week!

Now that we got that out of the way, onto the game.
Receiver is a first person shooter rogue-like.
Everytime you spawn, you get a random weapon with a random inventory on a randomly generated world.
The objective is simple, obtain 11 tapes around the map and you win. But it's not that easy. There are enemies scattered around the world and it is your choice to either bypass them or shoot your way through. Remember, your health is a 1 shot kill. So you only get 1 chance.
The main core of the gameplay in this game is the guns. Unlike normal shooters, youl have to input various keys to perform actions in your guns. Reloading can take 4 keys to press. The ballistics include bullet drop and ricochet.
While the gun mechanics are pretty realistic, the enemies have a pretty estratigic way to deal with them apart from just shooting them.
While there are only 2 types of enemies, they are enough to make you pull your hair out. Enemies are pretty much sentries and drones. And they must function somehow. The strategy to eliminate enemies is to shoot vital parts. For example, you can shoot the sensor and they won't spot you anymore. Il leave the rest for you to find out the other vital parts. If you so desire to get the game of course.

But lets review the features of this game.
Features

Detailed simulations of a Colt 1911 pistol, S&W Model 10 "Victory" revolver, and Glock 17 with full-auto mod
While partially true, the guns do have detailed models and ways to operate them. But they mostly include only the important bits of the gun for the gameplay.

Taser robots and machine gun turrets with physically-based damage models
As said above before the features. This is true.

Ballistic modeling of ricochets and bullet drop
Again, as said above, this is true. Nothing else to had.

11 audio tapes to prepare you to defend yourself against the inevitable Mindkill event
The tapes are the objective of the game, these tapes explain the world you live in, the guns and how to use them, the machines and how they work etc. They also include parts of the story. I find this a very interesting way to have a tutorial. But it's not a very good way to deliver one. The audio tapes are random, so the chances of you getting a tape explaining how the enemies work, can take sometime.

Become literate in how guns actually operate
I can confirm this since I shot the floor, the bullet ricochet and still killed me. Don't shoot the floor kids.

While the game can be fun and frustrating at times, it delivers quite an experience no other game can achieve.
I belive it took me 9 hours to finally complete the game once.

Now for the moment of truth. Buy or not to buy?
For 5 bucks, i'd say go for it. While the game is simple with complex mechanics, as a rogue-like I belive it offers alot of replayability.

If you want to become god and kill everything and jump across maps with the speed of sound. This game has it covered.

But let's review the description of the game.

- "Massive terrain deformation!" - Making the terrain go up or down is not massive.

- "Use strategy to destroy hordes of bugs with a variety of unique behaviors and attacks" - Not really. Just get and upgrade missiles and stun and everything becomes a joke.

- "Bring trees back to life and collect energy to purchase upgrades" - Bring trees back to life? How's that a feature.

- "Upgrade your skills to run on water and jump hundreds of feet into the air" - Pretty much the fun part of the game, which is the movement since some maps are pretty big. Running on walls could have better controls.

- "Pulse pounding music by Trance Emerson" - Music is pretty nice but nothing to brag about. How you like your music is your own taste and opinion.

- "3 levels of play (Casual, Normal, and Extreme)" - Even on extreme its easy if you upgraded your sprint. If nothing can touch you whats going to kill you? If you guessed lava, acid and sorts. You're right. Enemies suck.

- "2 playable characters" - It's pretty much the same character but with a different gender. They both have the same abilities and whatnot so there's nothing different from one another. It's pretty much if Mass Effect said theres 2 characters but one is male Shepard and female Shepard.

- "6 unique attacks" - I wouldn't say unique. 3 attacks are lasers which 1 goes foward, the other you can cast multiple and the last its a homing laser. 2 change the terrain and the last one stuns enemies.

It's not amazing and the graphics are meh. Don't get me started with the player models and the enemies. Jesus how did that go so wrong. (The fact that the concept art was pretty cool and interesting).
Crosshair is a lying bastard.
The camera controls, I really don't know what to say about it. It's just wrong.

Apart from messed up lazy models, the messy controls and camera. On and all, I had fun. I think it's a game where you can easily spend 2 hours on it without feeling bored or stressed out.

Get it on sale thou.
