This was a lot more time consuming than it had to be, and I STILL had to reign myself in on the ideas I was having! Thanks to freifraufischer for challenging me, this was a lot of fun.

So here are the rules.

1. Ask and you shall be assigned an existing tv show to spin off from. I will make every effort to chose one i know you are familiar with.
2. You must use at least two characters from the original show (either from the main cast, or from recurring or guest characters). Original characters are permitted, as is stealing characters from other shows to round out your cast but try to avoid having more crossover characters than from the assigned show. Pictures are recommended but not required.
3. Post the premise and character descriptions in your journal.

A NEW REPUBLIC
The Animated Series

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...

It is a time of rebirth in the galaxy. One year after the death of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, a galactic Congress has been convened on Coruscant to create a new Republic for the Alliance of Planets.

As delegates debate the necessary protections for liberty, led by President Pro Tempore Mon Mothma and Princess Leia Organa, the Alliance continues to hunt down Imperial leaders and war criminals. Though the Empire is no longer in control, the Alliance still faces many threats to peace and freedom in the galaxy...

OUR HEROES

Luke Skywalker (voice by Mark Hamill) Jedi Knight and General for the Alliance, Luke Skywalker spends most of his time searching for war criminals to bring to Coruscant for trial. However, he has made it clear that he plans to restore the Jedi as guardians of peace and justice, and continues to seek out information to help him. When he is on Coruscant, he spends what time he can training his twin sister, Leia Organa.

Leia Organa (voice by Catherine Taber) Without a home planet to represent, Princess Leia was unable to hold a delegate's position in the Congress; however, she sits on several committees as Mon Mothma's representative and keeps an active hand in matters. Her direct manner and growing skill as a Jedi have earned her both respect and enmity within the Congress. However, it is more often her (frequently volatile) relationship with General Han Solo that provides amusement for the delegates and their staffs.

Han Solo (voice by Nathan Fillion) General Han Solo has settled into a position of leadership within the Alliance. He is responsible for re-organizing the Allied forces into a defensive body for the New Republic... however, this requires waiting for the Congress to determine just what this force will look like. In the meantime, Han frequently travels with Luke Skywalker to hunt down war criminals and complete other missions as requested by Mon Mothma. Han also enjoys riling up Leia Organa in public arguments, both for the scandal and the chance to make up later on.

C-3P0 (voice by Anthony Daniels) Threepio is thrilled to once again be serving as a protocol droid, and he takes his responsibilities a bit too seriously at times. He spends most of his time on loan to the Wookiee delegation, providing translation and protocol direction to Chewbacca.

R2-D2 Artoo stays at the side of his master, Luke Skywalker, both on his travels and in the halls of Coruscant. His constant presence is noted as an eccentricity of Skywalker's, but Artoo is a resourceful and creative aide.

THE GALACTIC CONGRESS

Mon Mothma, President pro tempore (voice by Genevieve O'Reilly) Mon Mothma serves as leader of the Alliance until the Congress is able to form a new Galactic Senate and elect a Supreme Chancellor. While she is widely recognized as a favorite for the position, she remains quiet about whether she would even be willing to serve in the role. Instead, she focuses on the day to day work of directing the Congress and securing justice.

Pooja Naberrie, Delegate from Naboo (voice by Jaime King) Following in the footsteps of her famous aunt, Pooja Naberrie was named the Delegate from Naboo, and is the favorite to win the seat in the future Senate. She is often distracted by domestic politics as she learns to balance her roles. Pooja's heart is in the right place, but she can at times act before entirely thinking through the consequences. She is not yet aware of her relationship to Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa.

Jar Jar Binks (voice by Ahmed Best) Jar Jar spent ten years in an Imperial work camp, then returned to Naboo for a quiet life with his family. He agreed to return to Coruscant as Pooja Naberrie's aide, and does his best to share his experience as a former Representative. However, his imprisonment and time in the Imperial Senate appears to have broken his spirit, and he is frequently the harbinger of doom and failure.

Chewbacca, Delegate from Kashyyk Now widely recognized as a hero of both the Clone Wars and the Rebellion against the Empire, Chewbacca was named the Delegate for Kashyyk to the galactic Congress. While proud to represent his people, he would much rather be traveling with his partner, Han Solo, and often voices his displeasure at being tied to Coruscant.

Garik Rann, Delegate from Corellia (voice by Ed Quinn) A successful business man with questionable ethics, Garik Rann is adept at playing both ends against the middle to get what he wants. He clashes with Han Solo on a regular basis; it is not unusual to find them with weapons drawn on each other.

Brocc Felding, Delegate from Calum (voice by Donald Faison) Calum was an important source of supplies to the Alliance, and is proud to have finally gained independence from its colony status. Brocc Felding is a fierce delegate, bringing the same fiery spirit to the Congress that he used to recruit and direct rebels during the war.

Jess Stanis (voice by Zachary Levi) Jess Stanis joined the Alliance after the destruction of Alderaan, and once helped Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, and Han Solo escape from near-capture on his home planet, Calum. He now serves as the aide to Brocc Felding. His interest in rebuilding the justice system brings him in frequent contact with Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker.

Boser Dugal, Delegate from Altis (voice by Brian Blessed) Boser Dugal strongly opposed the independence given to Calum, which was a colony of his home planet, Altis, for over a hundred years. He frequently threatens to withdraw from the Congress, and secretly provides support to several Imperial fugitives who he believes would better serve Altan interests.

Sri'latha, Twi'Lek Delegate from Ryloth (voice by Joshua Malina) Sri'latha served in the Imperial Senate. He generally advocates restoring the Senate as it was with few changes, afraid that anything too radical will only encourage planets to become isolationists.

Emad Gorki, Delegate from Neimoidia (voice by Masi Oka) Emad Gorki is a timid delegate, with a constant fear that anything he says will be interpreted as "separatist" or commercially motivated. The few delegates who get to know him are often exasperated by his behavior, particularly because they know that he has some brilliant ideas to offer.

Wicket, Delegate from Endor (Warwick Davis) Wicket reluctantly left his tribe in order to see that his homeworld would be protected from future encroachments like the Imperial occupation for the Death Star. He doesn't understand why the delegates make ever ything so complicated, which oddly enough means he is often the voice of reason in committee debates.

THE VILLAINS

Admiral Neratt (voice by James Marsters) Neratt commands a large segment of what is left of the Imperial Fleet, and is determined to maintain a hold on the few sectors that have not yet overthrown their Imperial governments. Though he disclaims any ambition to become Emperor, he has no trouble stepping into the role of a central dictator when he deems it necessary.

Moff Jan Skidder (voice by Amanda Tapping) Jan Skidder was Moff of the Rishon Sector for nine years after her husband died in mysterious circumstances. She is known for her ruthless suppression of any opposition to her, Rebel or Imperial, and oversaw the construction of one of the Empires largest, and deadliest, prison camps. She fled the sector within months of Palpatine's death. She is one of the Alliance's most wanted fugitives.

Essek Karussel (voice by Adam Baldwin) Essek was a young Jedi Padawan who escaped the Purges and lived for years as a drifter before becoming a bounty hunter. He maintained a low profile under the Empire, but now that Vader and Palpatine are no longer a threat, Essek has begun to operate more openly and is quickly becoming known as an effective, if ruthless, mercenary.

Yarra the Hutt (voice by Lani Minella) An opportunist by nature, Yarra seized the opportunity to expand her operations upon Jabba's death on Tatooine. Yarra was famous for negotiating with Imperial prison camps for slaves and controls most of the slave trade routes in the Outer Rim.

Mak Su (voice by Milo Ventimiglia) Mak Su stole a number of samples from the labs on Kamino before the clone factories were shut down, and established another lab in an unknown location. He now sells slaves on the black market.

FREQUENT APPEARANCES BY

The Ghost of Anakin Skywalker (voice by Matt Lanter) Anakin visits his son regularly. He is leery of leading Luke to repeat any of his mistakes, and seldom offers advice; however, if Luke asks him a direct question, he will answer truthfully, along with any warnings he can think of. Mostly, though, he simply wants to see his children be successful and happy. He is also very amused to see Threepio and Artoo with them, though he claims he's not surprised that Artoo would have tracked them down.

Ghost of Obi-Wan Kenobi (voice by James Arnold Taylor) Obi-Wan Kenobi also visits Luke from time to time, usually to lead him to important information about the Jedi Order.

Wedge Antilles (voice by Denis Lawson) Commander Antilles often leads a squadron of men as backup for Luke and Han's missions.

Well, I've just proven that I am COMPLETELY insane, and with only a week and 2 days until my first final exam, have opened a brand new LJ community.

I was looking at my lemmings icons while redoing my gallery, and thought "It'd be kind of neat to have a community devoted to meme-ing." And then I mentioned it to sue_parsons who said "I want to join!"
