Moving Sux!

My mom and I have moved into my brother's house. It's a good fit so far. We were looking for somewhere else to live and my brother's house sits empty all year, except for the couple of weeks during the summer when he and his family comes back (he's in the Air Force and lives in Albuquerque, NM).

Finally got the internet back. Yay!!!

It annoys me that there are still so many boxes and crap around. Now, I'm not necessarily a neat person. My stuff tends to collect in piles, but I know what's in the piles, lol. But still having a lot of my stuff in boxes bothers me. I don't like clutter and not being able to find my stuff.

I start back to school soon. Last semester! Finally.

Happy New Year, Everyone! I rung in the new year with a dog hogging my bed. Bekah came in since people were shooting off fireworks, and she's afraid of the noise. Too bad for me she hogs the bed and snores.

This is an artificial Christmas tree we used to have in the house, but since we bought a new one, we put it outside.

I decorated our two big trees with balls. They're too big to decorate with lights now. I had to stand on the side of my Mom's truck to put the high ones on.

This is the front of the house.

This one is the inside tree.

I have some pictures of the snow, too.

This is of the old artificial tree outside.
it's only wednesday! wtf?!

Has this week been slow for anyone else? It feels like it should be Thanksgiving already! Well, I know why it's been dragging by for me. I get next week off for the holiday break. A whole 5 days with no class and no driving to school. I think I'm looking forward to not having to drive to Athens more than not having class.

With the weekends, that means 9 days I don't have to do anything but eat and sleep. Well, not really, lol. I do have to do a little (or a lot of) decorating.

I'm also in the process of repainting the house. Right now I'm working on my bedroom and the living room. I love to paint rooms. I think I'm going to be one of those people that repaints every so often. My room has been white for a little over a year now, and I'm so tired of it. Time for something else.

Last post I mentioned how I had to get new tires put on my car, well the Monday car trouble woes continued on this past week as well. Monday afternoon as I was leaving class to head home, the belt on my car broke. Goody. I got to sit (illegally) in a parking lot on campus for a couple of hours until someone could come get me and my car. Luckily, the belt was a relatively cheap and easy fix.

If it's true trouble comes in three's, well my trouble should be up.

This is the last week of class before the Thanksgiving holiday. After the break, I think I have a little over a week of class left and then finals. I'm so freaking ready for these classes to be over, lol.

We've pulled out all of our Christmas decorations. We haven't really gotten anything up yet, but mine and my mom's schedules don't really mesh all that well right now. I have class during the week and she works on the weekends. She likes to turn on the Christmas lights on Thanksgiving, so we're trying to get everything up. I don't know if well be completely done, but we can turn on what we do have ready on Thanksgiving.

This has not been the best week. Sunday my mom realized that the rubber on my front tire was coming off. I knew I needed new tires because my tread was practically gone, but I did not know they were coming apart. I've noticed that my car felt like it was bouncing, but we were thinking the tires needed air. But either way, Monday I had new front tires put on.

Last week my computer stopped coming on. Booo! So I called Dell today. First they tried to tell me my hardware and service warranty was expired, which it wasn't. I have until Dec. 27th, thank you very much. Unfortunately, I had to reformat my hard drive, so all my stuff was lost. :( I will be calling my brother one day soon to ask if I can use his Dell credit account to buy an external hard drive (even though I have nothing to put on it right now) and to extend my warranty. I mean I've had this computer not quite three years and it's broken down twice. Those are not very good odds to not have a warranty. So now I get to go about trying to find and/or re-download the things I lost. Woo-hoo :S

I think for the first time I'm beginning to feel old. See my 26th B-day was last Monday. That's not why I feel older. Twice over the weekend, different people assumed I was 23. See, usually when someone guesses my age, they underestimate it by 5 years. Now it's only 3. I told my mom that I think my face is beginning to age. :( LOL! Either that, or having black hair makes me look older. But I guess on the bright side, at least I'll stop getting carded.

One More Day

Tomorrow at noon is my last final exam this semester. Thank goodness it's almost over. But for tonight, it's study, study, study. I'm feeling the pressure on this one. If I don't get a C, I can't take either of the two physics classes next semester I'm signed up for. Which would push my graduation date back another year, which would, well, suck.

I had 2 exams yesterday. One was a take home essay exam. Not worried about that one. The other, I think I did ok on it. That professor is more concerned with whether or not we understand the material of the class, and can use it, even if we don't use it all correctly. I know I made some mistakes, which I realized after I got home. Isn't that how it always goes? I had a B- going into the exam, so as long as I end up with a C, I don't really care. It's going to suck if I get below that, because then I will have to wait until spring 2012 to take it again...with the same teacher. Awkward.

I'm worried my computer is about to die. The fan is incredibly loud on it, and sometimes it turns itself off. I think over the summer I need to call Dell while it's still under warranty. At least I hope it's still under warranty. My luck the fan isn't. :(

This semester is almost over. Phew! I have one more week of class and then the week of finals. Well, I'm not looking forward to that, but you know. For me, this semester has flown by, and I'm definitely ready for a break. ;)

My dad and I maybe going to the Grand Canyon this summer. I hope we do; I've never been farther west than Alabama. When my brother leaves to go back to Albuquerque, after his summer leave, I think we're going back with him, and then continuing on to the Grand Canyon.

My mom has started school online. I think she's going for medical assistant. Possibly? Yeah, I'm not so good with details, lol.

How's everyone doing? Any plans for the summer?

First of all, I must send out a very Belated Happy Birthday to Jen! I don't know where the days went. Last week, it was all, "Jen's b-day is coming up. Jen's b-day is coming up." And then because I'm such a goober who can't keep up with the date, I go and miss it. *sigh*

Monday I have a mini group project due. I've done <strike>most of</strike> my part (well, I typed it up this morning). Then April 12, my group has a 10 page research paper due <strike>that we haven't done anything on</strike>. Fun times.

I did send an email to change my major. I just hope it was to the right people/office/email address. Surely if it wasn't, or if something was wrong, they would email me back, right?

Finally getting over my cold. Blegh! I hate being sick. Not much has been going on recently. I sleep most of the three day weekend away (thanks to no tolerance for cold medication).

I had my hair cut and dyed. It's now black. I haven't done black before. It's not jet black or anything. It's soft black, whatever that means. I guess it falls between black and really dark brown.

Well, I am tired, so I'm going to bed.

New year, new post

Oh, man. Tomorrow is the last day of my winter break. Bummer. I guess that means it's back to the grindstone.

I have decided that after drop/add I'm going to talk to one of my professors about changing my major to Physics & Astronomy. Maybe I'll see about making math a minor, so what I have taken won't go to waste. We'll see how it goes.

My mom went outside to check our gas and we're down to 5%. So we have our heat off (well, the thermostat is set to 57 degrees). Needless to say, it's cold. Hopefully, the gas company can squeeze us in tomorrow. If not, they may not be able to bring us more gas until Friday. :(

Math sux and I don't want to do it anymore

So I have my last exam tomorrow morning at 8 am, and I'm debating about whether or not I should even go.
I mean, I know I'm failing the class and would need an A, a high one, in order to pass this class. But I don't understand the material any better now than I did before. So, should I even bother getting up at 6, driving an hour to Athens, taking a three hour exam to still fail the class?

It's so sad; I've taken this class once before and I still don't understand this stuff. But it's required for my major. At this point, I'm considering switching my major again. I think I want to change my minor to my major. I've talked it over with my mom, and she said it's up to me. She doesn't see the point in staying in my math major if I'm going to be miserable and have to keep retaking class. I honestly don't know how many times I'm allowed to repeat a course.

If I do change my major, it's going to push my graduation date back by a couple of years. That's so sad; I've been an undergrad for 8 years and still have nothing to show for it. Not that I think changing my major will be a cake walk. I would have <strike>some scary ass physics courses and a hella hard astronomy course</strike>several difficult classes left to take, but at least for now, I'm enjoying my minor courses much more than my major ones. I think it's because I can logically understand the physics and astronomy. I mean there are equations and I understand those. This math class, I don't even understand the logic to it. There aren't really any equations and I just don't get it. =(

I just want a freaking degree! Why is that so hard?

O.O

My brother called earlier tonight. He looked online and he found out where he will be stationed. In December he has to report to...England. If he did his Google-ing right, he'll be in Suffolk, which is in east England. His job will be working electronics on the planes that do the refueling, or something like that. So he, Tara, and the kids will be moving to England. I don't know how long they will be there, but since the Air Force is moving the family as well, it will be longer than 6 months.

I'm both excited and upset. I mean he'll be so far away, but this is an opportunity that he never would have gotten. He gets to live in another country!

I expect lots of pictures of all the tourists sites. I've never been to England (or any other country for that matter); I mean, I've never even been on a plane. I hope he gets the chance to explore and sight-see.

He sent us a link about the 352d Maintenance Squadron from Wikipedia: 352d Maintenance Squadron
Birthday Wishes!

Not much is going on, just working and enjoying summer vacation...

My summer is coming to a close soon. I think I have about 2 more weeks left of summer vacation. Bummer. But at the same time, I'm kind of ready to go back. I'm actually ready for some of my classes this year. I'm excited about my lower level <strike>bogus</strike> class; I'm taking a lower level astronomy class called "Life in the Universe". Sounds interesting. And the class for my minor this semester is Astrophysics II. But you see, I haven't had ASTR 4010, which is Astrophysics I. I'm one of about 5 people that kind of fell through the cracks because the department changed the requirements and prerequisites on us. So we get to skip over ASTR 4010 and go on into ASTR 4020. Supposedly, they're changing the class for those who are skipping the first part so we want start out already behind. I don't know how this is going to turn out. Since I graduate next spring (hopefully) I don't think I'll ever get Astrophysics I. Oh, well.

Summer Vacation!

Well, it's Monday, but it's summer so I guess it's not so bad, lol.

Mama and Tara (my sister-in-law) returned from San Antonio, TX this morning. They went to see Randy's graduation from Air Force basic training. He's now in Mississippi, and will be for 14 weeks, for schooling and job training. Then he'll go somewhere else, I think another school in Texas, for 16 more weeks. So I'll probably get to see him in sometime in January. I didn't get to go to his graduation since I had finals last week. The job he chose has something to do with the electronics of the planes, running diagnostics or something like that.

My brother and Tara have been married for 10 weeks, the last 8 of which he's been gone. If he has to go to both schools, he'll return a few weeks before their one year anniversary. But at least he'll get to talk to her everyday while he's at school. Once classes are over for the day, he gets free time and can call. Which is more than anyone got while he was at basic. While they were at Sea World Saturday (dude, they got to go to Sea World which is like next door to the base), Tara's cousin called because Madison, Tara's almost five-year-old wanted to talk to Randy. So Madison started crying, which caused Randy to start crying, which I'm sure made Tara cry. I bet they were a sight, blubbering during Shamu.

It's kind of strange, but sweet, but her kids call Randy Daddy. After he left, Madison was crying and said that she missed Daddy, and Tara was like, "you'll see him tomorrow." Then Madison was all "but you said we can't talk to him," and Tara was all, "Huh? You mean Randy?" lol. Masson, her two-year-old who doesn't talk yet (he can say like 3 or 4 words), doesn't say Daddy, but when someone mentions "Daddy" he points to Randy's picture. He bought them each a teddy bear wearing camouflage. He tried to get Masson a shirt that said "My Daddy's in the Air Force" but couldn't find the right size. I think he's going look for one while he's in Mississippi.

I know it's late, but here are some picture from the wedding. They got married in February in Knoxville, Tennessee.

That's Madison in red. And our dad was Randy's best man.

And here are a couple from the joining of the families. I've never seen it done with sand before; I've seen this done with candles, but this was the first with sand. And you can see Masson in these as well.

Here's a picture of Randy in his Air Force blues. But the hotel walls were lime green, so his uniform looks like it has a green tint to it, lol.

Isn't Randy cute? I haven't seen him without hair since he was like 13, lol.

Updates...

Well, the semester is going ok so far. I have my first test this Friday, and I'm kinda terrified. The material isn't all that difficult, I mean I've done well on the homework, it's just that there is so much material to remember. It's my complex analysis class, and yeah, lots of formulas and definitions and theorems I'm supposed to know. I have two tests next week, my 4000 math class and 3700 physics class. Not looking forward to either one of those either.

I'm taking PE. I'm taking PE because I'm required to take a PE class. I chose the walking class. It's...interesting.

My brother's getting married the 21st of this month. My little brother is getting married. That's mind-blowing.

Speaking of Randy, March 10 he goes to San Antonio, TX for Basic Training, because he has enlisted in the Air Force. He'll be there for 8 weeks, then move on to Mississippi for job training. He's going into Networking Infrastructure. I'm not sure how long his training program lasts. After he's finished there, he picks what base he wants to live on. He hasn't decided if he's going for 4 or 6 years; he has until he leaves for basic to decide. Whichever he chooses, I know he has to spend 6 months of his 4 years in Iraq, Afghanistan, where ever we will be during that time.

Well, that's all I can think of at the moment. Now I think it's time for me to head to bed. It's going to be a long day tomorrow.
