Reference post thing for my girls doing this with me at Katsu, and other future candidates!

Fabric
We're going the route of cotton sateen since it'll be easier to gradient dye than using a satin.

We decided it would be more efficient to order from online since that way we'll be able to match our fabrics for sure and having them ship your fabric to you might be more cost effective for everyone in the end.

Blue Cotton Sateen

The fabric has since this post was originally made, sold out on the Denver Fabrics site. If someone would like a swatch of the blue and black let me know, and I'll try to send one to you as soon as I can. I've found colors similar, if not the same, in the nyc fabric district. There are only two factories in this country that makes all the cotton sateen, so I have faith you guys can all find the color one way or another. It's just gonna be slightly more difficult now. If worse comes to worse, I live by nyc and if someone wants me to fabric hunt for them, I can.

Trimming

Searching for trim still, and taking suggestions. What some have done until now was ruffle and scallop the fabric themselves.

Buttons

La Mode black circular buttons; Hook 209, Style 20751.

Dyes and Paint

And as I said earlier we'll be gradient dying 'cuz lolz there is a gradient.
Using RIT's Royal Blue

Now rather than hand sewing on sequences which will not only be extremely time consuming I feel it would honestly take away from the outfit 'cuz making sure they're perfect and shit. No. lolz Guys, I suck I'll mess up, so instead we're going with the glitter spray paint route. Much quicker and ten times easier.

You can also pick this up at your local Micheal's as well.

Since finding the buttons in a matching royal blue to the fabric will be impossible, you're gonna need to paint the buttons to a blue. I've tested it out, and acrylics and jacquard work beautifully on the buttons. Just make sure you make your buttons match the royal blue color that's on your outfit as close as you can.

**Remember when doing anything with the paint or dye to test everything out first!**

Boots

Well the Floral outfits boots are not fun. Let me tell you that. We'll be going with these Black Gogo Boots as a base, and chopping them at the ankle so we can easily work with boot covers which can be skin tight. There are numerous other places online you can also pick up gogo boots. Party City has them year round too.

I've sketched out roughly the patterns/ shapes you should be following when making your boot covers. If you need anything explained let me know, and I'll try to answer to the best of my ability.

**Also remember after cutting the boots off at the ankles to take your boot to your machine, and do a zigzag stitch back and forth several times at the top so you can stop the zipper from going off the track.**

Fabric

I ordered from Joanns online 'cuz fuck if I can get to a physical Joanns. But I ordered one of their bottomweights which was on sale.

Now some people are fortunate enough to have their colors, some not so much, and for those, you'll have to venture into the land of fabric dying. If you need help with that just let me know, and I'll be happy to help you. Of course this applies more so with the local people doing this. It will be harder for you non-local people, but we can try making it work. (skype party!)

Pattern

I got my pattern from ebay. It was McCalls pattern 5633.

The pattern I got is from size 4-10, so if that fits your range, I would be more than happy to lend it to you. For you guys bigger than the size 10 then I can try helping you locate a pattern your size, just let me know.

Shirts

Hopper street has two shirts.

I got the white one from Micheal's. It's just one of those regular white plain t-shirts you can pick up at any craft store which are used for tie dye an whatnot. The black tank underneath is just a plain non-textured tank that I was able to pick up from H&M.

Both shirts need to be modified by cutting shorter, and the white shirt needs to be turned into a scoop neck, but I'm sure you guys can do that just fine, and already knew that. haha

Shirt Design

Suzanne was a kind soul who sent me the vector she made for her Angel Hearts crew for their Hopper Street outfits. I don't wanna post it up here on LJ where anyone on LJ can see and just take it, so I'll send it to you guys on facebook in a group PM or something.

I'm going to go the route of iron-on transfer for the design 'cuz it's far easier than heat n bond, which is probably the best solution, but meh, I'm a lazy fuck and have plenty of other things to work on. lolz

Shoes

I didn't even bother going accurate with the shoes. They seem like more of a pain than they will be worth to try to do accurately at this point. One day, maybe yes, let's have accurate shoes, but 2012 will not be that year.

I went with black airwalks that I was able to pick up at payless. I think I might have saw some that could work for Hibiki, but basically any converse like shoes with one major color (your character image color) and the welt being white.

If you can't find a shoe with your character image color you can just get a pair of white ones and paint them. Depending on the material your shoe is made out of you can probably use wither acrylic or fabric paint.

Belts

I'm taking care of everyone's belts to absolutely insure that part matches since it's the only part of the outfit where everything matches and is absolutely the same to a T.

CPAC MUN Applications

Taking up leadership, this is what I do apparently. Not that me running this again for CPAC (April 10, 2011) should be any surprise. This time around my fellow mods shall be: Ari/ phantomthief, and Mandy/ sagekiller.

Okey, so I was talking about Sengoku Basara cosplay for Otakon with Jenna, Jacqui, and Meggie, so here we go. Sengoku Basara 'cuz we fucking love manly men who can defy all the laws of science and physics.

Late Summer 2011: HetaOni-Esque Shoot

Hey guys, here to advertise a shoot again for you all. This one won't be for a while, so don't worry about rushing to get anything done if you don't have something already, though most of you should have something already since the shoot we're planning on is HetaOni, which means awesome regular military uniforms.

This shoot will take place in the late summer, I'm talking like after Otakon, so sometime in August, so you have over 6 months to finish a cosplay if you want to join in on this. And as for location of the shoot, it hasn't be finalized yet, but it will definitely take place somewhere in the NJ/ NY/ PA area.

I'll steal the basic synpopsis of HetaOni from Hetalia's Shout Wikia yet again:

The 17-part series(ongoing) is based off of the Japanese horror game Ao Oni Jikkyou, replacing the canon characters with Hetalia characters. It originated on Nico Nico Douga by Tomoyoshi, entirely in Japanese, before being translated on YouTube by SotetAG.

The series starts off with the Axis Powers and Prussia after a World Conference Meeting, standing in front of a supposedly "haunted" mansion. They decide to go inside and explore. Soon they are interrupted when a plate breaks and Japan goes to investigate, but comes back to find the others have disappeared. After alien attacks and various other strange happenings, the Allies, and Canada, also arrive at the mansion, becoming locked in as well. Characters suddenly disappear and a time paradox is revealed. Eventually other characters, such as South Italy and Belarus, arrive as well.

If you're interested on watching up on HetaOni, and getting to know it's fanbase more I have started writing up a guide to HetaOni which thus far only features links, but later will include a better description of the story, characters, etc. I'll let everyone know when that post is finished.

HetaOni features the America, England, France, China, Russia, Canada, Italy, Japan, Germany, Prussia, and later on, Spain, and Romano. But at some point even if they don't get speaking roles, virtually the entire Hetalia cast does get some screen time, so this can become a pretty huge group if we want it to be. Obviously, we'll feature the main 12 characters more so than the others.

We'll be reenacting scenes from the RPG, so that means, bro fisting, deaths, fights, smashing clocks, and blood. ~~lots of blood~~ So while it's not necessary to watch any of HetaOni to join this shoot, it would be in your better interest to watch at least part of it, so you can have a vague idea of what's going on.

☾ So lulz I was so smart and decided to stay up until 8 AM and watched Rush Hour 3. I did many thing in between obviously since movies don't last so long, but I just couldn't sleep. When it turned 8 I was like "GOD DAMN!" and forced myself to get in at least an hour or two of sleep.

☾ Took that lovely 2 hour nap, and rolled out of bed, and got ready.

☾ Left the house, and met up with Cat, Ari, Amanda, and a few other people at Penn Station.

☾ Arrived at Central Park where everyone was. A bit late, but better late than never.

☾ Introduced ourselves (the coordinators that is), gave a bit of a lecture, and proceeded to the shoot.

☾ Shoot went along swimmingly. The BFT got a bit inappropriate, but I suppose that's why they are the BFT.

☾ Now this is when we all chilled. Did random things. Joined in on the Flash Mob. I still don't full understand what it is, but I know it's dancing. lolz

☾ All good things must come to an end? We leave Hetalia Day early for some noms. Originally I was gonna go to Chinatown, but then everyone said they wanted to go to Alice Tea Cup cafe, so I was like "Lulz ok"

☾ We never got in since it was so small, and in the end ended up eating at Chipotle.

☾ You would think I would learn from last time I can't handle their food. Even mild is way too spicy for me. I was about to cry from how spicy it was. Sarah recorded the end of my eating and caught all my pain and suffering at its finest.

☾ Go to Kino. We stare at things. This is what we do every time we go. lolz

☆ ACP Dinner at 7. We're eating at the Cheesecake Factory. So excited. I never ate there before. And of course, I look forward to seeing old faces I know, and meeting some new people. ACP seriously got together some amazing people for the Hetalia events. Rest assure.

☆ Military!England is slated for the morning as of now until 2 when I have to change for Funimation Hetalia fun times. I may switch to doing Nyotalia with Hiro or if Katelyn is free I'll be doing something with her.

☆ Still the same, I'm working for Funimation. They own my soul. If you don't see me a lot or we don't hang for a long time. I'm sorry, but Funimation is covering my badge for this con for working for them, so I'm gonna make it worth their money. Basically I don't want to hear it if you get upset not seeing me. I have warned you all numerous times. I also ask that if you guys have problems for this one time unless it's dire not tell me since I can't let how others feel affect me and my performance. But other then that, just having an awesome time is my policy. Too much drama in life as of late, so let's try eliminating it for weekend.

☆ Either late Sunday or Monday. Depends on Cat's parents. Regardless of leaving Sunday or Monday I won't be home until Monday since if we leave late Sunday I am not traveling late at night back home, so I'll be bunking with Cat an extra night. ~~Mooching off of her and her fridge~~

✦ Bought some food for hotel room
✦ Went to NY Penn
✦ Arrived around an hour early
✦ Whoops took feel asleep on the floor for a bit
✦ Woke up
✦ Just laying there for a while and some dude comes and tells me that this isn't a motel
✦ Asta text me saying she's here
✦ Lolz Asta is at a different Auntie Anns
✦ THE FRENCHMAN HAS ARRIVED
