The future of Music Creation Is here

Creativity starts with people, that's why we build tools to empower artists —not replace them. We believe that technology should amplify, not replace, human creativity. As music creation evolves, we see AI as a creative co-pilot, empowering producers to explore fresh ideas, experiment with new technology, and shrink the gap between inspiration and action.

And we're not just building for artists — we're building with them. Through Soundcheck, our early access community, creators help shape every tool before it ships.

All human-made art deserves protection and respect—ensuring that creators retain ownership of their work and are fairly compensated for their contributions. In a rapidly evolving technological landscape, transparency is essential.

Variations and Craft — ingredients, evolved.

Variations gave producers a direct handle on the catalog's depth for the first time. Start with any sound, and Variations generates new versions built on its DNA, in your key and your tempo. The original creator gets paid a credit when a variation is used. The result is something unique to you.

Craft took the sample library somewhere it had never been before. Any sound in the Splice catalog, turned into a playable instrument inside INSTRUMENT. The vocal chop, the one-shot, the texture you've been building around for months: now something you can play.

Voice to verse, anywhere.

Our latest addition to Splice Mobile is the long awaited Splice Mic—a mobile feature that lets you record vocals over any Stack you've created. It's like a studio in your pocket—start an idea on the train, layer a topline in the park, and send a demo from your phone. Wherever creativity hits, Splice meets you there.

Splice launched INSTRUMENT, its first virtual instrument and a direct expansion of what world-class ingredients means for producers. Built on Spitfire Audio's LABS catalog, it extended the same expertise Splice had always applied to samples into a whole new category.

The same year, Splice published its Responsible AI Principles. As generative AI spread across the music industry, many platforms moved fast and said little about how their models were trained or what happened to the creators whose work made them possible. Splice went the other direction: sound-first, creator-compensated, and transparent by default.

Create Mode—everywhere, for everyone.

With the introduction of Create Mode (previously CoSo) we blurred the lines between discovery and creation. Powered by AI, Create gives users the ability to start Stacks using any loop from the Splice library or with any self-created audio, turning inspiration into action—instantly. Included with the release of Splice Mobile, a new unified Splice mobile experience, Create marked an exciting milestone in our mission to put the power of creation directly into user's hands—from the studio to the streets. So far users have created over 28 million Stacks (and counting).

We also helped shape the future of AI in music, co-signing the Principles for AI Music alongside Universal Music, Roland, and more—prioritizing responsible tech for real artists.

2024 marked our first in-DAW integration with PreSonus Studio One Pro 7. This pioneering partnership brought the depth and quality of Splice's catalog directly into the DAW, allowing users to browse samples and Search with Sound—all without leaving their session.

The Rare Finds filter, developed from direct user feedback, was released to help spotlight slept-on gems in our catalog—perfect for producers who want that unique sound.

Our Sounds catalog also got a boost from fresh label releases like Aaroh (celebrating South Asia's musical heritage) and Signature (our deep dive into jazz). Country music got the Splice treatment as well with the launch of the Splice Country label and Create's new Country genre—bringing the dobro, pedal steel, and banjo to producers around the world.

A smarter subscription + inspiration on-the-go.

The launch of Creator+, a new subscription tier, offered users enhanced tools like Astra, Splice Bridge, and Beatmaker VST—all designed to let creative workflows truly flow. Then came CoSo (Complimentary Sounds), a mobile app and cutting edge tool that supercharged sound discovery and creative ideation—making it easy to build and layer samples into song ideas (Stacks) anytime, anywhere. This innovation paved the way for what would soon become Create.

Smarter tech, bigger tracks.

In 2019, Splice took a pioneering first step into creator-centric AI with Similar Sounds (SiSo), a tool to help creators find the perfect sonic match to any sample. That same year, hits like "The Middle," "Dakiti," and "Break Up With Your Girlfriend" featured Splice samples—signaling Splice's growing influence in the industry.

We also expanded our creative toolkit—acquiring Soul Surplus, audio tech company Superpowered, and synth maker Audiare (creator of Astra).

Tools for the people.

Splice was always destined to become more than solely a library of high-quality samples. Our Rent-to-Own marketplace made pro software accessible, while the release of Beatmaker allowed anyone to create with zero friction. With key acquisitions like Indaba Music, Sample Magic, and That Sound, Splice's sample catalog exploded—hitting 2 million+ verified sounds by 2018. These early innovations set the pace, bringing Splice one step closer to becoming the creative ecosystem empowering music creators today.

From problem to platform.

It started with a problem: music creation felt too difficult, expensive, and closed off. So, in 2013, Steve Martocci and sound engineer Matt Aimonetti teamed up to fix it. The result? Splice—a platform built to remove barriers and empower music creators everywhere.

In 2015, Splice Sounds launched with a revolutionary idea: royalty-free samples, à la carte. No more overpaying for massive packs just to get that one sound. The first featured artist sample pack, KSHMR's Sounds of KSHMR Vol. 1, quickly became the most-downloaded in Splice history.
