IMDEA Networks is a SpecX project beneficiary, responsible for scientific and technological coordination, exploitation management, and leadership of WP1. Acts as main academic supervisor of DC1, DC3, and DC11, and co-supervisor of DC1, DC3, DC11, and DC13.
This project brings together two leading research groups at IMDEA Networks Institute, combining complementary expertise and a strong track record of excellence in wireless communications and networked systems.
The Pervasive Wireless Systems Group, led by Dr. Domenico Giustiniano, and the Wireless Networking Group, led by Dr. Joerg Widmer, jointly drive cutting-edge research on next-generation wireless technologies. Their work spans from battery-free IoT networks, unmanned aerial systems, and 6G localization to millimeter-wave communications, network optimization, and interference management.
Together, the teams bridge fundamental research and real-world experimentation through large-scale testbeds, high-impact publications, and technology transfer to industry and society. They also have extensive experience in training PhD students within MSCA projects, ensuring the education of a new generation of researchers at the European level.
