Tomorrow morning D and I are getting on a plane to Albuquerque! Yay! My mom will have some nice green chile stew waiting for me. Then, on Friday, we are going up to northern New Mexico to see my grandfather. He will be 90 in April. My mom and stepdad are coming with us, and my dad and stepmom will be there, and also my brother, sister-in-law, new niece, and sister! I don't have to be back at work until next Wednesday. And I have nothing, NOTHING that is undone at work, either.

I am probably going to gain 10 lbs. while I am there. Ugh. But so worth it.

As most people know, I never pack until the last possible second, often meaning I get no sleep the night before travelling. Well, guess what?! I'm already packed! Sheesh. What is happening to me in my old age?!

Luckily I'll have my telephone, so I can continue posting. Even from the national forest where my grandfather lives.

Good night, all! Must sleep before flying.

I can complain as much as I like about work and how much it sucks, how unappreciated I feel, and so on. On Farcebook, one is always at risk of industrial espionage. LJ, less so.

Today was crappy at work.

But the Valentine's smushy stuff was nice, though! D made me low carb, sugar free fudge. You'd never know! It was pretty damned good. We are experimenting with a couple of recipes. And I got floral appreciation. And dinner. Pretty darned good, I'd say!

I am now watching Low Rent Law & Order (aka Law & Order Criminal Intent). Pretty soon, bedtime. I am so old.
As many of you may know, I do not have television in any traditional sense of the word. I do have a digital projector, and I use it to project various movies from DVD and via Netflix from the Wii. I also sit like a lazy-ass right here in front of my antiquated computer monitor and watch shows sometimes. I recently watched 2 and a half seasons of Sanctuary, one of the most ridiculous shows ever. I love it. Today, though, it was a few episodes of the PBS series, The Story of India. I don't think to much of the dude who hosts it, but I LOVE the series. There are 6 hour-long eps. Very, very good stuff. I look forward to more of that ridiculousness tomorrow.

Work is wearing me out this week. I'm going to bed. It's only 9:54.
I was so miserable when I got home that I put on sweats and went to bed. At 5:30. And watched old eps of Mercy Peak for 4 hours. You know, I make just over HALF the median salary for my field, and I do it because I want to work doing what I do. But there are limits.

D made me feel much better, though, when he got home and made me cheese and broccoli crepes. Now for ginger ale and back to bed. Tomorrow is another day, right?

Today's installment of meme:

DAY 1: 10 things about you
DAY 2: 10 things you love
DAY 3: 10 things you hate

1.
I blew it already! I forgot to post yesterday. Ah, well, last time I did fine, so what the hell. I'll go ahead and carry on as if nothing has happened, and continue posting for the rest of the month. One other thing I forgot to do yesterday was go to my chiropractic appointment. Boy am I sorry now. Especially after trying to sit in half lotus for an hour and a half.

Went to my Sautrantika class this evening.
Well, actually, it isn't as cold as it has been lately. But it SEEMS colder due to all the stinkin' snow that is falling. And this is what my employer has to say about closing tomorrow, when there could be up to 22 inches of snow on the roads:

"We will not close the agency unless an official state of emergency is declared."

What bastards.

I did leave work at 4 today, and I will probably take a personal day even if they don't close tomorrow. I suddenly developed severe allergies to some cosmetics and fragrances about 2 years ago. The results are like a chemical burn.
4. I've lived on 3 continents.
5. I love Labradors.
6. I used to be an emergency services dispatcher.
7. I'm studying for my GRE and hoping to go back for my Ph.D.
8. My first love was Spock. I still love Leonard Nimoy, even though he'll be 80 next month.
9. At one time, I wanted to marry either Mr. Rogers, Mohammed Ali, or Tarzan. (I was 3).
10. Lilacs are my absolute favourite. Then I went over a little metal one lane bridge so I got cool breeze off the water. Then I drove through a part of my trip home that doesn't look like anything much in the daytime, but in the spring evening is utterly transformed. Total magic.

Retreat for the rest of the weekend.

Things are generally good.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled more exciting people.

See you next year, perhaps.

And that's actually saying something, because I didn't anticipate it would be easy peasy.

It's generally easy to feel discouraged when things aren't easy, or when one doesn't feel particulary successful at things.

But sometimes, just on the rare occassion, it is actually possible to look back to fifteen years ago and see a little progress.
Today just zipped by.

I did end up having to pay at my WW meeting. SUCK! So the next month is going to be one of seriousness. No slacking allowed. And at least I'm only like 4 over, not 20 or anything like that.

We went straight from the meeting to eat at Friendly's though, just as a sort of, uh, last hurrah. Heh.

After that, I FINALLY solved the problem that has been plaguing me since we moved here and got a new phone plan. Verizon is the only one that gets decent reception around here, apparently. And I got a cool new phone into the bargain, yay. But that means that Monday I have to call and fight with T-mobile about their crappy service and the fact that I can't actually get any phone calls or make any here so that they'll let me out of my contract. Heh. That'll be a joy.

Then we went to AutoZone. Ew. But my car hasn't been happy recently. And like this guy who used to be my friend, I have an old car and really have no desire to have a new car. Much as I have an old computer and really have no desire for change. So D is working on fixing my transmission. And he accidentally found out what was causing my oil leak, and apparently it wasn't a big deal. It was actually just bastardly rip off artist mechanics in Texas trying to convince me I needed to buy a new car. Pft.

Then we bought groceries for the week. Thrilling, but necessary.

Now we are home, and I am thinking of downloading an app for my phone that will simulate Darth Vader's light saber, with or without accompanying music.

It's the nature of my field.

The positive side is this:

I've been working here for nearly six months, and this is the first time I've felt super stressed to the point of being overwhelmed. The last two places I've worked, that's happened within the first few weeks.
