Whats happened in the past 3 months.

Me and the other 4 top coders of our cohort decided that we would develop a website that was centralized about ridiculing and belittling fellow classmates as a Joke. We called it Digital Man's Laughter but compressed it a little bit to have it spelled "Digital Manslaughter". Now to any normal person this would've been funny but to our school administration which is 90% mormon they found it offensive and some of them actually applied for gun permits after some of our posts (There was mentionings of skull-fucking a few of them :D). So I was supsended for the semester. I've decided not to return.

I've been living in California ever since my suspension working as a software developer for a metals company called "Universal Metals". The pay is pretty good and its in socal! :O~ Right now we're developing an application that takes the past performances of a race and works a few variants and compares it to the competition and then shows you who are the favorites to win the race. It works really well and we've been winning money at the tracks with it. The 2nd application we are working on as a side project is a little VBA quote sheet for the metals company to automatically grab the information from their Access DB (which we had to convert to, they were previously using FileMaker) and automatically e-mail or fax the company. Rather basic but its improved their productivity by 50%!

And thats about all thats happened in 3 months and thats why I haven't updated :P

L.A is pretty nice, I've been here for close to a week now. I've been all over, Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Orange, Irvine.. etc. Pretty much all around socal and I haven't found anywhere I didn't like! I can't wait to live here. Work is going great. We've been revising a lot of code Joe did before he actually knew object oriented programming :P I've been working long hours, usually around 12-15 hours a day but its well worth it for the knowledge and the money. I'm hoping to make a little over a grand a week. But thats about it. Not much for updating lj's anymore.

life on the westcoast

Well, I'm staying the night at Joe's girlfriends house Marie jacking the Internet from some neighbor who doesnj't know what WEP is =). But heres the story, My journey to the west coast started on noon, Friday the 27th. On our way out of Utah we had seen a SUV sitting up on top of a bridge but didn't think anything of it.. As we got closer we realized this was a cop clocking speeders. Then we passed the bridge and had a Bright Blue Mustange peel out pehind us and squad car lights flickering... But luckly, since Joe's license is suspended, he went by us and chose a car that was 2 cars ahead of us. Not even a quarter mile later there was another person pulled over, and then another, and another... There ended up being 4 cars pulled over within a 2 mile shot. Utah cops have nothing better to do than get speeders. We started thinking about this after awhil.. The mustang alone had to cost atleast $30,000. That means they would have to catch around 300 speeders before even paying for the car. Then you have to consider all 5 cops salaries, their vehicles, gas, etc. GAH... anyways.. We get out of Utah and go through Arizona (SOOOOO HOOOOOTTTTT) and then to Vegas. We met up his boss and the Flamingo Hilton it was a pretty decent casino and he bought us Lunch. We discussed a lot of business and I now have a full time job working as a software developer for him :D!!

So after we ate lunch with him he told us we had to go to the black jack tables so he could get the money he was going to pay us... It was so intense. He ended up taking out $8,800 in markers and then winning enough back to pay off the markers, pay us, and had $500 left over. I can't imagine being able to do that.

Then we had to meet everyone for dinner at ghallagers. Joe and I weren't hungry since we had just eaten lunch not more than 2 hours before. But after everyone was eating and everything the waiter accidently brought 2 extra beers (the waitress had already brought them) so then they sat them down and I decided I would drink it. Since it was a high class place, They asked if I wanted another since they noticed my bottle was empty... This went on for 7 more beers.. but then I was a little tipsy.. haha... Las Vegas is awesome, don't even get carded!!

So then we stay the night in Las Vegas at the New York New York Casino/hotel. It was the nicest hotel I had ever been in.. Omg.. So big.. Hot tub.. etc. It was a lot of fun. The only bad thing is we had to get up at 6am to drive to California because we had a meeting with Lonny at Noon. We ate at this place that was authentic chinese and it sold a lot of soups. It was called like erubis ramen or something.. It was AWESOME!! After we met with Lonny we got to work at Universal Metals and got a lot of coding done. We have promised Scott that we will finish the site by Monday.

After living all these years of hearing about Frys I finally got to be in one! FUCKING SWEET. Everything you would ever need with badass prices!! I got a $15 jump drive.

And thats about it. The reason i'm up so late is because Maries roomate sat down here and talked with me for awhile. Shes from Sweden. I had a bad opinion about her when we got here because they told me she is a stripper.. But after talking with her for well over 2 hours.. She is REALLY smart.. I couldn't believe it, She had strong opinions about American Government and swedens and just knew a lot of history and how the english language works.. It was really impressive. Shes getting married in June not for love but for a Greencard *sigh* But thats about all..

I have to be up in 6 hours to write code again. So i'm going to bed.. I'll keep everyone updated on my westcoast adventures.

OH WAIT.. I FINALLY HAD AN IN AND OUT.. BEST FAST FOOD EVER... WOoooooOooooh!!!!!

I've somehow found myself in the 'elites' group as some of the class has labeled us. We're the young and the proud who have explored the wonders of .NET well before ever attending NorthFace University. My roomate and I have become well known for our after-school study sessions who have so gracefully offered to any student struggling to make grade. It is hard for a lot of students because we're using a first edition book that has multiple syntactical and logical errors inside its chapters. To resolve this issue our Professor has hired us to make an application that will control all questions, answers, grades, and everything else that you can imagine a professor would need to make his job easier. I've learned a lot about inheritance and abstraction from working on this project!

Joe and I are also heading up to L.A tomorrow afternoon to sitdown with his boss and finalize an ASP .NET web application we have been developing for him. He wants it done by Tuesday--and we have a 3 day weekend--so we figured we'd go there, sitdown with him, and break it out over the weekend while enjoying the beautiful weather. And ofcourse there is the money he will be providing us for this project ;)

Katie is coming to Utah in 4 days! I can't wait!! There isn't a LOT to do in Utah but theres enough to let us have some fun and even if there wasn't, we'd still have each other. :)

But i'm off to bed, My eyelids keep falling.

Lastnight I went to see Star Wars with Joe, Dustin, Kyle, Vince, and Scott. I thought it was a very good movie (I heard mix-reviews prior to). After we got back from Star Wars, Joe and I finished up working on some ASP User Controls that we had been working on earlier that day. So this morning when I woke up I decided I needed to learn more about the user controls and modularize the content management system I had been working on. So after playing around for awhile I learned enough about them to beable to create one that held a repeater in it that scrolled through the news on my page and also had paging built in. And then a calendar control that sent dates to the news control so users can view posts on different days. It's all pretty basic but it works great and once I can get a half-way legit copy of Photoshop on my laptop i'll get some graphics built up and upload it to my domain.

I just finished some Feticcine Alfredo that was delicious! Now i'm just waiting for my brownies to finish =)

But if anyone wants to buy me a PDA for my birthday you're urged to do so ;)

Today I'm going to miss my first day of school since it started. Our teach has been doing many lectures about the chapters and I can't get ahead in the chapters because my mind doesn't focus when there is noise around me. So i'm just taking a day for myself and i'm going to read the next couple chapters.

Also, In my sparetime i've been working on a content management system using C#/ASP.NET that allows anyone with a passport to login to my website and post comments/etc. Also, All forums/newsposts/comments can be accessed through and XML RSS Feed. I'll post the source up once I'm completely finished.

Antelope Island?

I lay their as Katie climbs on top of me, wearing a short pink skirt... And then she just vanishes abruptly and i'm awoken from my deep slumber to the sound of Joe exclaiming that I should get up and get ready for Antelope Island which I had decided not to go to the night before! So I mumble 'ok' to him and as I hear him and Hector walk out the door I resume my hibernation--hoping Katie is still there. They come back a half-hour later waking me again. So, after i'm ready we head to the mall to eat some Chicken Teriyaki with Scott and Emily. I decide i'm going to checkout AE/Gap/Buckle and grab some applications and find some flip-flops. I walk into Buckle planning on keeping the same ammount of money in my pocket as I had walked in with--but that plan was ripped apart by a social sales girl who said the right thing--she plays doom3! Joe had some jeans on that had some chinese symbols and skulls on them and she walked up to us asking if we had ever heard of Doom and ofcourse, we have, so we talked about it for awhile and shared our anger for them taking our guns away when we get into hell. And then the next thing I know I'm buying $30 pair of flip-flops. She was really cool! I grabbed an application so i'm hoping I get to talk to her again and see if she wants to come LAN. haha.

After the mall we headout to Antelope Island. This was my first time ever being to the Great Salt Lake, and it was just as gross as I was told! There wasn't to much happening there since it still isn't summer yet but we had visited the Ranch and seen a lot of cool antique stuff. But the coolest part of the whole trip was we seen a deer in the trees laying down so we walked slowly up to it and it just laid there while I pet it!! It was so cool! Then it got up and walked away and wouldn't let anyone else pet it. haha. So after we explored there for awhile we headed back. But on the way we seen a buffalo just wandering in a field! So we stopped and watched it for awhile then I decided I was going to try to pet it too! So I got out and Joe and Hector stayed in the car. As I got closer I noticed he was sharpening his horns on a rock and I thought to myself "Hes not sharpening those to look good, I think i'll leave him be" but it was just so amazing. I wasn't more than 2ft away from him and he was huge!! He even stuck his tongue out once and it was really long. So I stared at him for awhile in amazement then I walked back to the car but not before snapping a few shots with the phone-cam. I'll post pictures of me petting the deer and the pictures of the buffalo later tonight/early tomorrow.

Everyone else is at Scotts playing XBox but I decided to be a little antisocial and just relax in bed for awhile. There is a party going on over at Ashley's house so I might make an appearance there later. I dunno, I'm feeling pretty lazy.

We stayed up until around 4am watching the Cube series. Cube Zero and One have great death scenes and a wonderful plot--they even link together. Cube 2 on the other hand was nothing but a film for the animators to develop awesome effects that had no meaning. So I wake up around noon and decide it was time to be a little more ambitious so I start by picking up all the dishes on the floor/counter/table and clean them. Its amazing how many dishes we have when they are all clean. I couldn't even fit them in the cupboard. Then I did ALL the laundry. Mine, Joes, and Sam's. Then as I was folding Sam's clothes I decided I'd make his bed just to be nice. So after that I rearranged a little bit and then I vacuumed/swept the whole house. Then I scrubbed down all the counters and windows.
By then Hector was wanting to go because we had decided to walk around Sandy and get job applications at the mall. So we walked about 10 miles all together and got a few job apps and he paid his cellphone off and we talked about our families and everything. So after we got back it was around 6. So we chopped up some bananas and oranges and made some pretty good shakes and then decided to go to the pool to grill and relax in the hottub. So we prepared some chicken, polish sausage, and hotdogs. It was delicious!! We also brought some pop and some bacardi 151 to mix together while we were in the hottub.
While in the hottub we a had a bunch of people show up! Robert, Thomas, a guy from North Carolina and his wife, a young married couple that goes to the community college, and a father and his daughter. We all had great conversations about sports, life, and fears. We had spent around 2 hours in the hottub and finished off half a bottle of 151 between the 2 of us. Needless to say we were feeling pretty good. So then Thomas and Robert invited us over for some texas holdem. So we stumbled over there and played for 2 hours and then Dave, James, Bobert, and Julian showed up with a bottle of popov *eww* and 1/3 bottle of 151. So they started playing asshole and I just watched and ate pretzels. I took a double shot of vodka and that was it. Julian was SMASHED. He could hardly walk. And then all of a sudden our surreal world came to an abrupt stop. The cops had been called and were knocking at our door.

We let them in but not before hiding the empty bottles of alcohol. Julian was the only one smashed so we had him on the balcony. But right when they walked in they said to get them off of the balcony. (even though the curtains had been shut and they couldn't see them). Later on while talking to the cops they let us know that they actually cased our apartment before knocking. They had looked in the windows and seen the bottles from the poolside. Utah cops are serious! Well all of us were underaged.... not a good sign! So Julian goes crazy and wont take a breathalyzer so he got cuffed and sent to jail. The rest of us just sat there nervously awaiting our breathalyzers. And even admitting to drinking all but Dave and Robert blew 0's and got off free! I thought i'd lighten up the room and stood up and said "GIMME A SHOT, I PASSED!" and the cop actually gave me a high-five for it. So he was actually pretty cool. So it was a close call but I made it out of there without a MIP. Now i've decided to not drink again for the next 2 years of my college.

Right now I'm finishing up Joes laundry (he hasn't did any since we've moved in) and watching equillibrium. Hector and James went to grab some full chickens because they are on sale for $0.59/lb which is a GREAT deal. We're going to be grilling with Thomas, Robert, James, Me, Hector, and if Joe is back from California by then, he'll be there to.

It was funny when James came in here to get Hector because he was like HOLY SHIT.. your house looks nice. Because we have about 5 people that leech off of us so so our house goes through a lot of dishes/gets messy fast. haha.

Tonight my college ran a co-ed casino night with the beauty school thats in this city. So I get there and played a few mock-hands of texas holdem while we taught all the newbies how to play. So I started off big, Got a 4 of a kind kings and then a straight and some rounds that I won on pairs. I was rolling in the dough. Then I switched up to black jack where I lost pretty much all my money then gave up and gave my chips to someone else. So being sad at my loss of money Scott and I decided to grab some pizza. As we ate we decided to round up some guys and form N'Sync. So we sang "Bye Bye Bye" and got threw in jail for it! haha. It was a lot of fun though. After kereoke was done they put on music for dancing. After awhile we Noticed there were NO guys whatsoever we decided to hop in. And Scott and I danced for awhile and then some guy came out with a chair and just sat in the middle hoping for a lap dance. Well... He got one. But it was from one girl and 1 gay guy from the beauty school. hahaha. But then the girl sat down saying it was her turn for one. But he ran off so I decided to and gave her a little dance. So after I was done I decided I deserved a personal dance so I sat in the chair. I got 2 girls 8) muahhahaa. So after that we relaxed for a bit. Then they threw on a slow song and only 4 people went out. 1 couple and 2 girls. After sitting there for awhile we split the 2 girls up and did one slow dance. And that was about all that happened. It was a pretty sad event given that it was made up of gay guys from beauty school and geeks from Northface :P But I had a lot of fun.

On Saturday NorthFace arranged for a van to take some of us to the store to get groceries and everything. Joe and I stacked up on pop (9 12packs) and then got some popcorn, chips, hamburger, etc.. Kyle suggested we celebrate our first successful week of school so we decided to grillout by the pool. So I fired up the grill and cooked everyone hamburgers and hottdogs and then we also had some pop and chips. This was the first time we had ever hungout with James, Hector, or Dustin although Hector lives with us and we see James and Dustin everyday at school. Kyle and Vince were also there but they are here everyday! But it was nice to hangout with everyone and get to know them better. After everyone had enough to eat we decided to go play a few rounds of pool. Hector and I won 2 out of 3 of our matches. Then we came back to my apartment where we played poker and blackjack until about 3 in the morning.

Joe and I have been coding all morning, he has to finish a horse racing program that he is doing for his work in C++ and I'm just doing some C# homework that hasn't been assigned yet :P We're starving but can't figure out what to eat. Joe wants chinese but I don't want to spend money and I want Chicken Alfredo but he doesn't like it. *shrugs* Plus Hector has Chicken breasts unthawing right now so I'm not sure if hes cooking us something. haha.
