Women have shaped and changed his world but he still holds and keeps preconceived notions about them. He is of course a womanizer, enjoying to toy with them as well as being around them. He especially loves to touch them, not out of a need to protect them, but out of a need to possess them, control them in a sense, even if he won't ever achieve that control. He likes the idea of trapping a woman's fire and holding it until it burns him. He loves to play with dangerous women, feel them out and control them for the brief time they are together. Jason feels no loyalty to them, they are, after all, just women. He left Hypsipyle even after he fathered twins with her. Medea, for instance, was just a tool for him to get what he wanted. He was well aware that she could easily harm him with her magic, but shamelessly used her anyway. Medea gave everything to Jason. She was the reason that Jason was able to complete his task, since her magic helped him defeat the dragon and she killed her own brother for him. Medea also helped protect the Argonauts on their way home with the Fleece. His engagement to Creusa further demonstrates his callous regard to women. He did it for purely political reasons, since he wanted to reclaim his father's thrown and have political clout with another city at the same time. He rejected Medea-the mother of his sons-in order to become engaged to the princess of Corinth. Women are a means to an end for him. The only one he really has any respect for and doesn't see as a sexual object is Atalanta because she proved herself on the voyage for the Golden Fleece.

Jason is very cocky. He knows he is good looking, good in bed, and is worthy of every bit of attention he gets. He doesn't flaunt it in the face of those he speaks to, but it comes out every once and a while. He is every inch the prince he was raised as. Being sent to Chiron to be educated helped foster his natural arrogance, since many great men had been trained by the centaur. Once he assembled the Argonauts together, his arrogance only grew. Jason was the leader of one of the biggest group of heroes assembled up to that point, including Heracles and Orpheus, proving to him that he was one of the best heroes to ever exist. The fact that Hera and Aphrodite looked upon him with favor only made it worse as well.

Our dear Jason is selfish by nature. While he will help others, many of the tasks he completes are for his own benefit or the benefit of his family. The whole quest for the Golden Fleece was so that Jason could claim his father's throne, he didn't do it to help others. He used his favor with Aphrodite to get Medea to fall in love with him in order to make the task easier/possible. He then left her for Creusa in order to gain more political clout. He got the heroes in the Argonauts to join him in order to help him complete a task that was for his own benefit. While it would help them to be connected with such a quest, it was mainly to help Jason. He cares the most about himself, all others are secondary to him.

» History: The son of Aeson and Alcimede of Iolcus, Jason was born when Pelias rebelled againts Aeson and killed his entire side of the family except for Jason-who was protected when the Queen's handmaidens surrounded him and wailed as if he were stillborn. He was raised an educated by Chiron. Years later, Pelias held games in honor of Poseidon in Iolcus which Jason traveled to attend. One his way there Jason helped Hera across the river Anauros while she was disguised as the an old woman. On the way across, he lost one of his sandals and was blessed by Hera. Pelias, who had been told by an oracle that a man with one sandal would take his thrown, told Jason that he would be given the thrown if he retrieved the Golden Fleece.

Jason gathered a group of heroes to join him on the quest, using the ship the Argo, including Heracles, Pollux and Castor, and Orpheus. They landed first at Lemnos, which was an island of only women (the men had been cursed by Aphrodite and subsequently driven off) and the male members of the Argonauts all slept with the women and created a new race, the Minyae-Jason slept the Queen Hypsipyle, fathering twins. Next, the Argonauts landed with the Doliones, where they were treated amazingly as guests should be. After they left, they lost their bearings and returned at night only to kill their hosts. They also saved king Phineas from the Harpies. The seer revealed the location of Colchis and how to get past the Symplegades (Clashing Rocks) in return. Phineus had told Jason to release a dove when they approached the rocks, and if the dove made it through, to row as hard as they could. If the dove was crushed, he would fail. The Argonauts got past the Symplegades by releasing a dove and, after seeing only a few tail feathers caught, rowed through. Only their stern was damaged.

Upon arriving to Colchis, King Aeetes gave Jason three tasks to complete, and Hera had Aphrodite make Medea (a witch and daughter of Aeetes) fall for Jason so she would help him complete the tasks. The first task Jason had was to yoke and plow a field with the Khalkotauroi (fire breathing oxen), which Medea gave him ointment to protect against the fire. Then, he planted dragon's teeth into the field. This caused soldiers to grow out of the ground and, in order to protect himself, Jason threw a rock into the middle of the field as Medea told him to and confused them so they killed each other. Finally, Jason got passed the Sleepless Dragon by spraying it with a potion Medea made that caused it to fall asleep, allowing him to get the Golden Fleece. The Argonauts and Jason fled Colchis with Aeetes chasing them.

Upon returning to Ioclus, Jason had Medea kill Pelias and they were driven into exile by Pelias' son. They made their way to Corinth where Jason was about to announce his engagement to the princess Creusa when he was taken by Cronus.

» Personality: Jason is charismatic and eloquent. He was raised to be an intelligent prince, educated by the best and one of the most wise centaurs. Upon reaching his prime, he managed to convince many great heroes to follow him and he continued to lead them, despite the hardships that they faced. He was able to convince several goddess to like him and come to his aid when needed.

As long as it doesn't come at a great personal expense to him, Jason doesn't mind helping the occasional person in need. That being said, there is a condition to his caring: he cares when he can get things, be in notoriety or a prize. He, along with the other Argonauts, helped Phineus get rid of the Harpies, risking the wrath of the gods, while gaining personal notoriety as the mortals who rid a man of the wrath of the Harpies. Jason also pretended to be in love with Medea and took her with him in exchange for her help with his quest. He enjoys the boost to his ego, the gratitude others give him, and the fame. He just needs to get something for the aid and all is well.

Due to the hardships the Argonauts went through together when they were sailing on their quest, Jason tends to be fairly protective of them. He will instantly take their side in any fight and they are pretty much the only people he would go out of his way to help when there was no clear benefit for himself. He figures they went out of their way to help him, so he might as well help them and they earned his loyalty.

Jason is, of course, classy. He was raised to be polite and refined, a true prince and future king. Unless provoked, he will always be polite and refined, as he strives to set a good example to others of how men (and royalty in particular) are supposed to act. Chiron would allow no less from him. Unless angry beyond all reason, he will not allow it to show, just as he won't show any real emotional pain, though he allows a more superficial version of it to show. Any show of extreme emotion is, in the end, unacceptable to him, since it ruins his image of a gentleman.
