Happy Yuletide! I am so excited you’ll be writing something from me. Obviously all my prompts are optional but I’d rather throw out many ideas than none at all. I am also very welcome to accepting Treats!

Here are some of my general likes/dislikes including DNWs (most of which I said during signups, some of which I was specific to the actual fandom and some of which were in general)

What I said in signup:

I’m basically looking for something with Bryan Danielson and any of these other characters. So as long as the fic includes Bryan as part of the pairing you can surprise me on the rest. In my letter I will put specific prompt ideas.

Please give me more of a blend of kayfabe and reality; Bryan likes to take things to the extreme in kayfabe and in rl he’s rather just the opposite. I’d love some sort of balance there and tbh I’m totally fine with nonkayfabe compliant fic too (especially if you give me a bryan and Nigel fic) or even full aus.

Additional people i wouldn’t mind you including if you were doing some sort of hookup fic are: Wheeler Yuta and Danny as long as you Don’t make it current death riders storyline. OR an idea I love is different people braiding Bryan’s hair. He’d been wearing it that way for matches in 2023-2024 and I would adore fic of different people braiding it for him. It works for Zack and Nigel if you wanted to add him too because they’ve both been at those matches, same as Danny, Eddie, claudio and Yuta. Thats like 6 people isn’t it? Lol

Im still not over that we didn’t get them teaming together in anarchy in the arena. I’m still not over this promo. I’m still not over Bryan taking his shirt off for Eddie. I’m still not over Bryan KNEELING here. I’m still not over that these two did an evolution of a handshake. Give me fucking everything and anything surrounding all of this. 1. Speaking of meet-cutes, the way Bryan talks about Claudio sometimes he honestly sounds like he’s utterly in love. Vice versa for Claudio. give me all of the romance with these two. I do not want ANY of the current storyline kayfabe with this and if you’re gonna do non-au then I’d want something non-kayfabe, like Bryan being so god damn happy to SEE Claudio again. Cue all the hotel sex.

2. I truly would take any movie romcom au with them. I want a French kiss au personally, and maybe I’ll write it one day but I’d rather read it. Claudio is obsessed with coffee. Gimme all the coffee shop aus.

I really am obsessed with the recent hike Bryan took both Danny and Yuta on expanding from his Yuta solo hike. I’d love full aus or kayfabe compliant or not fics I’m really not picky. Some ideas:

1. I watched Yuta and Bryan leave karaoke together (and saw how Yuta literally showed up late and was clearly only there for Bryan), and two days later Bryan got his revenge in-storyline. I love the idea of them plotting his revenge back at the hotel while making out all sweetly and Yuta talking about watching Bryan sing and being all into it. If you do this one pls don’t make it as any sort of active infidelity thing. Additional comments: I’ve loved this band since I was a teen and always lowkey shipped it but never went hardcore bc they then eventually broke up and I just couldn’t go there. But now they’ve fixed things and it feels like for real this time and I’m in deep

Honestly I’m not sure how many specific prompts I have I just am truly obsessed with how much like fanfic these two truly have become like they got their second chance and they’re doing it right this time. As I said in my signup for this one I’m okay with the cancer mentions which is normally a dnw for me. But I am very emo about Tom being marks “north star” during his treatment and them just leaning on each other. So yes you could write stuff around the time in which they were reconnecting there, relearning each other. You could write stuff about the new songs, ONE MORE TIME (song) broke and remade me.

I also have so many feelings about the +44 era, mark wearing his heart on his sleeve

And I can’t handle that the healing is so real that they did a mashup of boxcar/+44 on tour so yeah I’d take anything surrounding that.

Or you could go back in time and give me their meet cute which is just too much to handle - the light post, the jumping, the hospital.

Gimme Tom’s teenage crush and Mark’s scary feelings of his own. Give me house party and tour bus make-outs and being the one person who knows you through and through.

3. Angels in America: Prior/Belize (all characters required)

I’d love a friends to lovers in between the time of the last scene in the play as the revival version really implied to me that they were together again. I’d also love any pre-canon of their relationship (first meeting, first time, etc) and character studies of either of them. Whatever you come up with I’ll love. Highly partial to Andrew Garfield and Nathan Stewart-Jarett’s portrayals of Prior and Belize. Forgot to include it in my specific DNWs but would prefer no AU with this one.

I’m okay with Louis being mentioned and him reminiscing on their past relationship and current friendship but I didn’t want to request him as I really don’t want a Prior/louis story. If you go post-play, would love anything related to the 80s vs 90s. What’s it like for Prior and/or Belize to be in a new decade. I adore 80s/90s music/pop culture so bonus for any references.

Additional comments: I adore this movie (still haven’t read the book) and would really love some summer teen romance between these two, before all goes to hell. The way Dennis cares about Arnie is so much, and I’d love to see some friends to lovers explored.

I would love a summer hookup (pre- movie) in which they kiss and then just keep on fooling around any chance they get but they don’t really talk about it?

Just looking for some hopeful sweet teen romance (I love how affectionate Dennis is with Arnie) before it all goes to hell for them.

Alternately, you could do an AU in which Dennis is able to save Arnie/pull him back from all of Christine’s influence. Or obviously something totally different! As I say in my signup I’m okay with an unhappy ending for this one as it’s in the canon source material.

5. Western Stars (album) - Bruce Springsteen

I requested this once and received an amazing treat for it. Nommed it this year and decided to do a last minute addition this year and request again.

I’ll take anything that explores any of the songs on this album (Although I would prefer no Hello Sunshine) and it’s themes. Could be gen, het, or slash. I love the overarching Americana theme, and how a lot of it seems to be set in the silver screen era/post WWII. and just aging.

I love that some songs repeat the same chords from other songs as an intentional connection. The album is so incredibly seemless that i can’t ever imagine listening to it out of order or not all at once. It’s meant to be consumed as a full bodied piece. Feel free to create original characters or use Bruce as your catalyst, I’m fine with either. I’m more than happy if you decide to just take the feel of the album it and run with it, but to highlight some particular songs:

- Hitchhikin’ - one of my favorites and one of the few songs on the album that is truly youthful. I picture a young hitchhiker, maybe in the 50/60s picked up by older men who are fathers about to become fathers etc, but this guy isnt thinking about that and maybe never has? Is he gay? Does he hook up with a guy around his age who picks him up? Up to you.

- wayfarer: I feel like this goes right along with hitchhikin’ to be honest. Could be the same person. No commitments, no connections, still youthful? There’s a cynicism towards love and settling down-

Then rain comes fallin', the blues come calling, and you're left with a heart of stone
Some folks are inspired sitting by the fire, slippers tucked under the bed

- Tucson train: classic Americana Bruce in this one. Finally there’s a girl in the picture and there’s blue collar work and allusions to war and dreams of more-

- Western Stars: the palpable aging of an old screen star who’s now washed up, talks about being on set but then also talks shot viagra (I don’t think it’s meant to be a reference that he’s now doing porn, but hey, could be?). A screen star that is remembered by a commercial with a credit card but wistfully reminisces over when he was once shot by John Wayne in a movie and it’s lead him to a million drinks. I just love everything in this song, all the imagery.

That one scene's brought me a thousand drinks

- sleepy Joe’s cafe: a good connector, I can see a lot of characters from the album just turning up there. I like the mention of Joe opening the place after his GI loan in 1945 - love the thought of it being a gathering spot in the 50s/60s. Would be down for hearing about the story of Joe and May, or the narrator that comes to escape-

Lyrics:

I come through the door and feel the workweek slip away
See you out on the floor and Monday morning's a million miles away

-Drive Fast: we head back to the silver screen for this one, and also back to classic Bruce + Cars. Once again this is an aging and broken man, reminiscing on his days drag racing as a teenager, becoming a stunt man, meeting a woman on the set of a B-movie (producer? Director?), who was clearly more well-off.

Lyrics:

We met on the set of this B picture that she made
She liked her guys a little greasy and 'neath her pay grade
We headed down to Baja in the desert, we made our stand of it
Figured maybe together we could get the broken pieces to fit

-Chasin’ Wild Horses and Sundown are both about regrets and want and scream the mid-west. These could easily be connectors with other stories

-Somewhere north of Nashville: this one has a distinct feel of an aging country singer looking back on his regrets. Bruce even sings it with a country twang. I love the idea that the person he lost for “the song” aka his career was a guy, because it was either stay in the closet and have a career or come out and have nothing — except the person you love, of course. These lyrics are killer, feel free to break my heart

Lyrics:

Here, somewhere north of Nashville

For the deal I made, the price was strong
I traded you for this song

-Stones: this is my absolutely favorite song on the album. I tend to pair it with my second favorite song “moonlight motel”. Again, it reads as an older person looking back in regret and the disintegration of a relationship.

(Skipping There Goes My Miracle and Hello Sunshine as they’re the weak links in the album imo.)

So that leaves:

-Moonlight Motel: so good. Just amazing. Another lost relationship. A man reflecting on young love and youth while having nothing, having gone through kids and bills and the wife that’s no longer there and is traveling to lonely, empty hotel rooms. It’s just so bleak yet also so lovely and I see it connecting with multiple previous songs.

6. The Breakfast Club: (Brian/Bender: all characters required)

I always want the same thing: post-canon future fic with these two falling for each other. Don't care how it happens. Alternatively, if future fic ain't your comfort zone any first time/first date/prom fic would be great.

I love when the script is flipped and it's Bender who turns out to be the successful one. I love the thought of how these two can fit into one another's worlds, at the end of the film and if they do at all, or if they don't until years down the road. From my likes, any version of fuckbuddies to friends to lovers or fake dating would also be wonderful.

7. Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private investigators (Frank/Sebastian : all characters required)

Additional comments: I binged this whole show recently and loved it. I especially loved that Frank’s sexuality seemed a bit ambiguous. I loved the moment early on in the show where he said ‘Sebastian I could kiss you.’

While part of me still isn’t sure how I categorize Frank (I definitely feel there could be aspects of asexuality) I’d absolutely love a story that delved more into his and Sebastian’s relationship.

1. I don’t believe we learned how they met? (If I’m misremembering you can ignore this prompt) I love Sebastian’s master of disguise routine and how it fits with his theatre background. Did they perhaps meet that way? Was Sebastian in drag? (this does not count as the genderswap DNW - basically I’m not looking for always a girl/suddenly a girl fic but genderplay is totally fine as is mistaken identity on the part of Frank). Did they have a one night stand they never spoke of?

2. Do they have to go undercover as a couple one time on a case? What happens? The tropier the better!

3. You could write a fic that does lean more into Frank being asexual but he does fall for Sebastian who is very much a sexual being. How do they navigate the relationship?

What I said in signup: I’m basically looking for something with Bryan Danielson and any of these other characters. So as long as the fic includes Bryan as part of the pairing you can surprise me on the rest. In my letter I will put specific prompt ideas. My DNWs include: writing bryan in a demonizing/irredeemable manner, extreme kink, the current bcc storyline, sad endings

Like last year I’m looking for a Bryan fic with one (or more) of these people but I felt I needed to be a little specific this time in terms of my dnws this year as there’s certain things I really don’t want in terms of the current storyline. I also am not interested in reading about a Bryan who is aggressively an asshole with absolutely no redeemable qualities. A lot of current headcannons and reactions in fandom have made me feel the need to had to specify this.

Please give me more of a blend of kayfabe and reality; Bryan likes to take things to the extreme in kayfabe and in rl he’s rather just the opposite. Hello! I have never done this fest before so I’m a bit out of my league! I will throw out some prompt ideas and info about my likes but pretty much if I chose these things I’ll like what you come up with!

First off I like all different kinds of music and I’m a mix enthusiast. My Spotify is here. My masterlist of fandom mixes is here (and if links to my general mixes here. Haven’t updated either in a bit tho)

1. Our Flag Means Death RPF

I’ll admit when I saw this my mind first went to Taika/Rhys as I’m very into them, but if that isn’t totally your bag I would also be down for a video of Vico and Con or Con and Nathan.

For Taika and Rhys specifically: I fell really hard for these two without even expecting to. Their chemistry, friendship, history, shared life experiences, and how much they love each other is all A Lot. I’ve got an entire masterlist of AV content for you to peruse if you want or need some quick finds; it really kills me the way they’ve talked about one other in both print and AV interviews — the way they constantly mention talking on the world together / us against the world / being kindred spirits, wanting to work together forever, how it’s always the most exciting when it’s just them on screen together doing their “magic” it’s just all SO MUCH.

I have a mix that I made here, if that sparks any inspiration. My main songs for them are 2 Fast Cars and Handle Me with Care (Taika pov).

2. Angels in America NTL Production

Prior has always been my favorite and Andrew Garfield is one of my favorite actors so that combo is basically my favorite thing in life and my favorite piece of acting by someone ever, full stop. So yeah I’d love something Prior focused and I’m very very partial to this Prior and Belize’s relationship. I feel like Andrew and Nathan truly elevated that to the point that they seem to be together together in that finale scene.

I’ve got an entire masterlist of content here. That being said the Prior and Louis relationship is of course essential and while I’m not interested in a solo Louis vid I’m totally fine with a Prior/Louis one as long as it isn’t presented as end game romance. And I love every single actor and performance in this play so you could always go a more ensemble angle. I’ve made tons of mixes as the link above will show and so for music I’d love if it was kept to the time period of 80s or early 90s (for the last scene).

3. Christine

I love this movie so much and yeah I ship Arnie and Dennis (they just scream high school homoeroticism sexual tension) but I’m fine with anything and everything here, it’s all just vibes and aesthetics really. I’m sooo into the synthwave nature of the score and big into retrowave/vaporwave - ive got a lot of mixes like that on my Spotify. Here’s an example of the type of retrowave stuff I love. But I also love oldies and the 50s tracks in the movie. Honestly you can’t really go wrong here, any vid in this fandom would make me so happy.

4. Maurice

Ohhhh one of my favorite books, one of my favorite movies. Gorgeous and lush and sensual. I honestly don’t have much to prompt here. Again I feel like vibes and aesthetics make this. I love Alec and Maurice as end game obviously but I also adore the all those early scenes with Maurice and Clive; some of the most erotic and tension filled to be captured on screen, truly remarkable. You could go with classical or modern classical for music choices or you could go full popular music, I really don’t mind. I think anything could work here.

5. Once a Thief

God I loved this show and the movies. So much fun. Obviously I shipped Mac and Vic but everyone was great in this. If we matched here just have fun with it, maybe some up beat pop song set to their shenanigans. Maybe something deeper and more serious, for when the show touched on that stuff. I’d love anything!

6. Mysterious Skin

Again it’s all about the aesthetics — this is just a beautiful shot film from start to finish. I’d love stuff with Neil and Bryan. I’ve had this want for like 10 years of a vid set to Skeletons by The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Obviously you aren’t locked into that but yeah— something about that song + this movie just fits so well to me.

7. Nigel McGuinness

I love Nigel; I’d originally envisioned this with him and Bryan Danielson but he wasn’t eligible. That being said if you use footage from their matches, I won’t be disappointed. I love stuff with Nigel in ROH as I don’t know him in TNA as Desmond Wolfe. I love that he used to come out to Oasis so yeah music wise Britpop/alt would be awesome: Oasis, Pulp, Blur, Suede, Elastica, Garbage etc. I’ve got a lot of Nigel related stuff here (tied to Bryan, mostly)

8. Zack Sabre Jr.

Ahhh Zack. He’s so damn fun. Again I’d envisioned this with a possible Bryan Danielson crossover, so def would not be opposed to footage of their matches. I’ve got some Zack stuff here (related to Bryan). I LOVE that he loves George Michael so much and I did my own mini version of that in a vid comp of him and Bryan but yeah obviously anything George Michael/Wham would be so cool for song choices. But honestly anything!

9. Sports Night

Ahhhh Casey and Danny. Yeah I’ve got a lot of mixes them that I’ve made (see link at the start of post), so many songs scream “them” to me. And I love the whole show so if you wanted to focus more on an ensemble that’s cool too. But ultimately would love Casey and Danny and friends to lovers vibes. They were formative.

Additional comments/prompts: Needed to get my own personal dnw in there as this is the first RPF pairing I’ve seen where this actually needs saying. And with that being said, onto the rest:

I fell really hard for these two without even expecting to. Their chemistry, friendship, history, shared life experiences, and how much they love each other is all A Lot. I’ve got an entire masterlist of content for you to peruse if you want and extra inspiration; it really kills me the way they’ve talked about one other in both print and AV interviews — the way they constantly mention talking on the world together / us against the world / being kindred spirits, wanting to work together forever, how it’s always the most exciting when it’s just them on screen together doing their “magic” it’s just all SO MUCH.

I basically always want all the friends to lovers with these two but I’d be happy with anything as long as you avoid my dnw.

I’m also very happy with friends popping up in this such as Jemaine, Brett, Kristen Schaal etc but please do not give me a marvel cast of characters. I’m not interested in those cameos nor do I think they ring true in a Taika/Rhys fic . I think Taika definitely puts on his Taika Waititi hat with certain people and even though friendships there exist, I’m interested in him being Taika Cohen (as much as he can) with the people he has known before he began Big Famous Director Man. (I also just give no fucks about the MCU anymore, so.)

3. 8. So: The Lie detector test. Think we can all agree that was not the first time Taika ever applied the word “dashing” to Rhys — he doesn’t even stop to think, no pause whatsoever. Tell me the first time he mentally applied the term to him — some memory of 20+ years — 5 times Taika thought Rhys was dashing + 1 time he said it out loud? I’ll take anything, especially Rhys bringing it up later and friends to loverssss

Exception to my pls no SOs rule is: recently divorced Taika ready to “get back out there” tells Jemaine Rhys and Brett in the group chat that he thinks he’ll “give men a go”, Rhys (not married) feels his brain short out while Taika is like “open call for you lot to matchmake me with your lgbtq (is that right? Am I missing a letter?) eligible contenders” and that’s how Rhys Darby has to listen to date after date that Taika goes on with men bc his friends are traitors while he himself offers up no one and silently broods. Cue Taika calling him up after dates, going into detail, getting a little steamy, leads to almost phone sex and feelings and a rom com happy ending of course

That time Rhys said Taika has obvious sex appeal – so give me the first time he ever thought that, maybe when they were younger and trying to get into a club somewhere and the bouncer is being annoying and Rhys is like ‘let Taika try he has obvious sex appeal' and Bret goes he what? And Jemaine goes wait, he... what, and Taika goes ‘I WHAT?’

11. and obviously I’ll always take any filming kiss/love scenes leads to getting together fic, a classic that can never be overdone. Although I've definitely enjoyed the character bleed fic I'm not interested in the bleed going from Ed/Stede to Taika/Rhys. Give me the other way around, which they've flat out said as much -- Rhys has said they didn't need to work on anything at all in terms of chemistry, saying that it was easy to be in love because they love each other as friends:

I am absolutely down for a threesome fic, particularly centered around the time in Robinson’s run when they kidnap “the guy they love” in order to talk some sense into him. Otherwise I’d love Wyatt/Johnny or Peter/Johnny ship fic and the 3rd character can always be present in the fic too. These are Johnny’s two best friends and I so adore the dynamics all around. 4. Under the Banner of Heaven - Jeb Pyre/Bill Taba

Once again Andrew Garfield proves he has more chemistry with a man than his onscreen wife. I was struck by the lack of — anything in Jeb’s relationship with his wife. Which I believe was mostly intentional to a degree but then the show failed to follow through on all of that. Jeb’s crisis of faith was believable up until it wasn’t, in my opinion. I don’t understand him going back at the end of everything seemingly glossed over and happy after his wife flat out said she will be with a man of god even if it isn’t him. I think it would’ve been much more interesting if he’d been having a sexuality crisis at the same time (especially since we do see some homoeroticism in the other storyline on the show). This show was not my favorite nor was it my favorite Andrew performance but I felt there was SO much potential there and I was completely captivated by Jeb and Bill’s ( the best character by far on the show) relationship.

I’m not sure what specific prompts I have. I basically would love to see them slowly falling into one another. Long nights at work, going to Bill’s place or out somewhere. Maybe Jeb is getting separated. I’d love for them to find a way to be happy even though there’s so much stacked against that. A character study with longing is good too, and I’d love more of Bill’s backstory.

What I said: I’d love a friends to lovers in between the time of the last scene in the play as the revival version really implied to me that they were together again. 3. Western Stars (album) - Bruce Springsteen

What I said: I requested this last year and received an amazing treat for it. Decided to do a last minute addition this year and request again. What I said last year: I’ll take anything that explores any of the songs on this album (Although I would prefer no Hello Sunshine) and it’s themes. Could be gen, het, or slash. I love the overarching Americana theme, and how a lot of it seems to be set in the silver screen era/post WWII. and just aging. Favorite songs/lyrics and further prompt ideas can be found in my letter.

Additional comments: okay! So like I said I love all the themes, I love that some songs repeat the same chords from other songs as an intentional connection. The album is so incredibly seemless that i can’t ever imagine listening to it out of order or not all at once. It’s meant to be consumed as a full bodied piece. Feel free to create original characters or use Bruce as your catalyst, I’m fine with either. I’m more than happy if you decide to just take the feel of the album it and run with it, but to highlight some particular songs:

- Hitchhikin’ - one of my favorites and one of the few songs on the album that is truly youthful. I picture a young hitchhiker, maybe in the 50/60s picked up by older men who are fathers about to become fathers etc, but this guy isnt thinking about that and maybe never has? Is he gay? Does he hook up with a guy around his age who picks him up? Up to you.

- wayfarer: I feel like this goes right along with hitchhikin’ to be honest. Could be the same person. No commitments, no connections, still youthful? There’s a cynicism towards love and settling down-

- Tucson train: classic Americana Bruce in this one. Finally there’s a girl in the picture and there’s blue collar work and allusions to war and dreams of more-

- Western Stars: the palpable aging of an old screen star who’s now washed up, talks about being on set but then also talks shot viagra (I don’t think it’s meant to be a reference that he’s now doing porn, but hey, could be?). A screen star that is remembered by a commercial with a credit card but wistfully reminisces over when he was once shot by John Wayne in a movie and it’s lead him to a million drinks. I just love everything in this song, all the imagery.

- sleepy Joe’s cafe: a good connector, I can see a lot of characters from the album just turning up there. I like the mention of Joe opening the place after his GI loan in 1945 - love the thought of it being a gathering spot in the 50s/60s. Would be down for hearing about the story of Joe and May, or the narrator that comes to escape-

-Drive Fast: we head back to the silver screen for this one, and also back to classic Bruce + Cars. Once again this is an aging and broken man, reminiscing on his days drag racing as a teenager, becoming a stunt man, meeting a woman on the set of a B-movie (producer? Director?), who was clearly more well-off.

We met on the set of this B picture that she made
She liked her guys a little greasy and 'neath her pay grade
We headed down to Baja in the desert, we made our stand of it
Figured maybe together we could get the broken pieces to fit

-Chasin’ Wild Horses and Sundown are both about regrets and want and scream the mid-west. These could easily be connectors with other stories

-Somewhere north of Nashville: this one has a distinct feel of an aging country singer looking back on his regrets. Bruce even sings it with a country twang. I love the idea that the person he lost for “the song” aka his career was a guy, because it was either stay in the closet and have a career or come out and have nothing — except the person you love, of course. These lyrics are killer, feel free to break my heart

So that leaves:

-Moonlight Motel: so good. Just amazing. Another lost relationship. A man reflecting on young love and youth while having nothing, having gone through kids and bills and the wife that’s no longer there and is traveling to lonely, empty hotel rooms. It’s just so bleak yet also so lovely and I see it connecting with multiple previous songs.

4. Fantastic Four (Comicsverse) - Johnny Storm, Peter Parker, Wyatt Wingfoot

What I said: I am very okay with a Johnny/Wyatt fic, a Johnny/Peter fic or a Johnny/Wyatt/Peter fic. You don’t have to use all three. I am absolutely down for a threesome fic, particularly centered around the time in Robinson’s run when they kidnap “the guy they love” in order to talk some sense into him. Otherwise I’d love Wyatt/Johnny or Peter/Johnny ship fic and the 3rd character can always be present in the fic too. These are Johnny’s two best friends and I so adore the dynamics all around. In my letter I’ll detail some potential prompts.

Additional comments: so while I am looking for ship fic here, I’m also okay with a Johnny focused story and Peter and/or Wyatt being there for him. Like I mention in the signup re: Robinson’s run there’s just a lot of that throughout the comics and a lot of opportunity for Johnny angst and him needing his best friends. I’d like that to ultimately end up romantic but yeah. If you just wanted to write me a Johnny focused fic dealing with his sexuality, depression/insecurity I’d probably love it regardless. What I said: Completely obsessed with the fact that teen Johnny Sturm runs off with a beatnik who then writes a love poem about him. I would really love the slow slide from friends to lovers. Getting to know each other on the road, Joey kind of always flirting but maybe not taking it seriously because he knows Johnny is young. That inevitable first kiss. Whatever you come up with, I’ll love! I’m also pretty okay with them getting together when Johnny’s 16 or it can be when he’s 18; not squicked by the age difference.

Additional comments: I just really want to see Johnny Sturm evolve and embrace his queerness in the 1950s in San Francisco. Finding that community that he finds with Joey and other beatniks, hanging out in the Castro, experiencing things he never would have in Glen Cove. Maybe Joey is his mentor for a while, while Johnny seeks some kind of idealistic love. Maybe he eventually finds it in Joey (that POEM) but maybe eventually they don’t stay together. This can be more of a Johnny Storm character study, for sure. He could even *cough* meet someone named Peter in his travels (that spiders line…) second graphic below was me definitely imagining Johnny/Peter

3. The Social Network - Mark/Eduardo

What I said: Strong preference for post-deposition reconciliation fic. And also anything that has to do with the canon clothes sharing in the movie of Mark wearing Wardo’s Northface jacket, and the fact that he’s wearing it during the laptop smashing scene.

Additional comments: okay LJ just ate everything I said here, which was a lot. What it boiled down to was: I care less than nothing about real life mark/Eduardo, especially Mark — that really cannot be overstated —- so please no metafic. I barely care about movie!Mark (which, like, we’re not actually supposed to, that’s one of the reasons I love this movie so much) except for the fact that Eduardo does and it’s so damn obvious how in love he is with this asshole. AGarfield’s entire press run was dedicated to how in love Eduardo was and he stated played those deposition scenes thinking that he just wanted mark to apologize and say he loved him and that they’d live in a house and get married.

So yeah, Movie!Eduardo was incredibly in love, this is just fact. If you go the post-depo route please don’t redeem Mark too much. He should still be an asshole, but an asshole Eduardo was/is in love with. (I have a LOT of movie!eduardo feelings).
And Mark does care for him too, maybe even loves him, in his own way — the most interesting Mark scenes in the movie to me were those little moments in which you could tell he cares for Eduardo, even while hurting him: His shaken reaction during the laptop smashing, “you didn’t have to be so rough on him”, wanting to stop Sy re: the chicken.

In terms of a prompt, I’d really love the something regarding the northface jacket clothes sharing, it intrigues me so much. When did Mark get it? Did he take it before leaving for Palo Alto? Did Eduardo leave it on one of his trips? Did he wear it purposely when Eduardo found out about the shares because he wanted to be connected to some part of him? Here’s a gifset of it:

Whatever you come up with I’ll love. Highly partial to Andrew Garfield’s portrayal as Prior. Would prefer no AU with this one.

What I said: Oh man, if we match on this I already love you. I’ll take anything that explores any of the songs on this album (Although I would prefer no Hello Sunshine) and it’s themes. Could be gen, het, or slash. I love the overarching Americana theme, and how a lot of it seems to be set in the silver screen era/post WWII and just aging. Favorite songs/lyrics can be found in my letter

Additional comments: okay! So like I said I love all the themes, I love that some songs repeat the same chords from other songs as an intentional connection. The album is so incredibly seemless that i can’t ever imagine listening to it out of order or not all at once. It’s meant to be consumed as a full bodied piece. So I’m more than happy if you decide to just take the feel of it and run with it, but to highlight some particular songs:

- Hitchhikin’ - one of my favorites and one of the few songs on the album that is truly youthful. I picture a young hitchhiker, maybe in the 50/60s picked up by older men who are fathers about to become fathers etc, but this guy isnt thinking about that and maybe never has? Is he gay? Does he hook up with a guy around his age who picks him up? Up to you.

- Western Stars: the palpable aging of an old screen star who’s now washed up, talks about being on set but then also talks shot viagra (I don’t think it’s meant to be a reference that he’s now doing porn, but hey, could be?). A screen star that is remembered by a commercial with a credit card but wistfully reminisces over when he was once shot by John Wayne in a movie and it’s lead him to a million drinks. I just love everything in this song, all the imagery.

- sleepy Joe’s cafe: a good connector, I can see a lot of characters from the album just turning up there. I like the mention of Joe opening the place after his GI loan in 1945 - love the thought of it being a gathering spot in the 50s/60s. Would be down for hearing about the story of Joe and May, or the narrator that comes to escape-

-Drive Fast: we head back to the silver screen for this one, and also back to classic Bruce + Cars. Once again this is an aging and broken man, reminiscing on his days drag racing as a teenager, becoming a stunt man, meeting a woman on the set of a B-movie (producer? Director?), who was clearly more well-off.

-Chasin’ Wild Horses and Sundown are both about regrets and want and scream the mid-west. These could easily be connectors with other stories

-Somewhere north of Nashville: this one has a distinct feel of an aging country singer looking back on his regrets. Bruce even sings it with a country twang. I love the idea that the person he lost for “the song” aka his career was a guy, because it was either stay in the closet and have a career or come out and have nothing — except the person you love, of course. These lyrics are killer, feel free to break my heart

-Moonlight Motel: so good. Just amazing. Another lost relationship. A man reflecting on young love and youth while having nothing, having gone through kids and bills and the wife that’s no longer there and is traveling to lonely, empty hotel rooms. It’s just so bleak yet also so lovely and I see it connecting with multiple previous songs.

What I said: If we matched on this then you already know how much Matty and George adore each other. I’d be happy with anything, especially things that highlight their domesticity. Here are my standard things I say every year, give or take some variations:

Here’s what I said during my sign-up and I’ll comment additionally on each. But as always remember you’re not bound by anything here! If you have a specific idea of your own, please run with it!

1. Mary Poppins (Movies) - Jane/Michael

What I said: I am probably the only badwrong person who shipped these two Mary Poppins Returns (never would've considered it before that) but I couldn't help it. I loved Jane's devotion to Michael, how much she's always been there for him.

For potential (optional!) prompts, I'd love to see a delicate slide into deeper intimacy and them knowing how wrong it is, but it makes sense in their world -- a world that hasn't really made too *much* sense, what with magical things happening when they were children and then their suppression of it because obviously it couldn't have been real. Maybe they've suppressed their feelings, too, and now with Mary Poppins back and Michael finally starting to live again -- a shift occurs.

Additional comments: I'd be pretty surprised if we were matched on this, and if we were you probably weren't going to take it to the siblingcest place, maybe? I'd be fine with something mild or implied if we happened to get matched and you weren't expecting this kind of prompt. I'm not into sibcest fic being handled without care and tact anyway (so basically i'd never expect a 'we're suddenly boning! pwp' with this one, an expection to my 'totally ok with pwps' note above). That’s not to say I wouldn’t be happy with an explicit fic if you feel so inclined! But I’d love plot too. Don't really have too much else to add aside from the above!

2. Sports Night - Dan/Casey

What I Said: I’m big into Dan angst and dan + therapy and Dan pining over Casey (which (upon my rewatch of the show recently is totally how Josh played him, along with totally bi, imo), and Dan learning to be happy and Casey being really fucking in love with him. In terms of more specific prompts -- I'd love to see a first time getting together, and navigating friends to lovers. Perhaps post canon. I'm also always down for fake dating (received a lovely one last year!!).

Additional comments: I'd honestly take anything at all with these two. I adore them so much. Pre-canon, during, post, today. Whatever! I made a lot of mixes recently, which can all be found here, if you’re interested in those. And I wrote a few fics (cherryvanilla on ao3 :D)

3. Pulp - Common People (song) - Girl from Greece/Narrator

What I Said: You could do a straight up expansion of the song - the initial flirting, that supermarket, the hookup. What happens when he meets her dad? How long do they last, if at all? Or you could take it to other places — a character study of the narrator or the girl from Greece. A future fic in which they meet up again (alumni reunion?? I’m always a sucker for school reunions). Anything you come up with would be amazing!!

Additional comments: Don't really have any! If you write me something for this, I'd be more than happy! Don't care what!! Feel free to make the 'narrator' Jarvis or give him a different name entirely.

4. Spider-man (Tom Holland Movies) RPF - Tom/Jake

What I Said: These two have been an absolute gift. I'd love any and all first time getting together fic. Tom with a crush the size of Australia, Jake so utterly charmed. Wooing? First dates? Terrible flirting? ANYTHING.

Additional comments: What struck me so much about this press tour was the ammount of times Jake was like 'i love him, it's a romance, we're getting married' etc etc etc. I started thinking about a "5 times Jake tried to come out that he was dating his co-star + 1 time people finally believed him'. So yeah, that's one specific prompt! Plus anything with social media as these two can't seem to stop flirting on it. But seriously, whatever you come up with would be a gift. Here's some inspiration:

5. Backstreets - Bruce Springsteen (Song) - Terry/Narrator

What I Said: It's been a long time since I've requested this song. My favorite one of all time, and such a gorgeous account of young queer love, if you read it that way (as I always have). You could have the narrator as Bruce, or give him a different name -- either is fine by me. Let the story in the lyrics take you wherever you want it to, i'd love any of it!

Additional comments: Young love, heartache, hot summer nights, two of us against the world. This song is just made for fic. Run with it however you wish. Here's my favorite performance of the song -- during a period of shows in which he'd include long monologues to Terry - godddd, my heart.

6. A Series of Unfortunate Events (TV) - Klaus/Violet

What I Said: It was pretty impossible for me not to ship these two in the show. They have that "we're each other's whole world" siblings thing going for them which is my bulletproof kink. Also they just kept getting jealous anytime someone else tempted the other's affections. It was a lot.

For optional prompts, I'd love to see the slow slide into realizing they love each other way more than they should. Perhaps post-canon on the island when it really is just them and Sunny now. Huddling for warmth on chilly beach nights? Eyes lingering too long on bare skin as they change into bathing suits? That terrifying yet exhilirating first kiss? I'd be happy with anything you come up with!! Bonus for it containing the fear, guilt, and hestitation incest fics should, but with ultimately a love conquers all ending.

Additional comments: Although I say above that I generally don't gravitate toward bedsharing, i'd be more than happy with it here. Also I'd prefer not a pwp when it comes to sibcest, as I like it handled with more tact. UNLESS you're doing extreme future fic and lay out great exposition of how they got together. Don’t get me wrong, please run with an explicit fic, I’d love it, as long as there’s also plot :D Kidfic is obviously great here too and all the domesticity of raising Sunny together, basically being her parents and that slow glide into even more intimacy than they already had with each other. I'd also be fine with a complete AU in terms of time period, etc. Last year someone wrote an incredible regency AU for yuletide and it's what basically got me wanting to read more of these two! I know I'll love whatever you come up with!!

Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Every year it’s basically my Yuletide fics lol, but other than that, it's absolutely my Sports Night fic. I adore it so much, and I feel it's some of the best writing I've ever committed, to be honest.

Most fun story: Probably my spn holiday exchange fic, Spice Up Your Life or Our Love Was Made For Movie Screens

Most sexy story: Probably my J2 porn au, which is yet to be posted.

"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: I mean, I keep writing incest, sooo...

Story with single sexiest moment: I really love the first kiss in Can't Start a Fire Without a Spark

Then Sam reaches out, this time not going for Dean’s hand but her cheek. His index finger strokes a faint line down in face, stopping right at the corner of her lips.

Dean swallows hard, shivering.

Sam smiles shakily as he leans forward and down, pressing their foreheads together in a move that’s so intimate it has Dean’s breath catching in her chest. Sam’s finger hasn’t moved -- and there’s barely any pressure to his touch -- but Dean still feels pinned down by it. Their eyes lock and hold.

“You’re so beautiful.” His breath is whisper-hot against her lips, and his eyes never leave her as he says the words. With anyone else Dean would be rolling her eyes, assuming it was a line to ensure she puts out tonight. But Sam is stroking her cheek with two fingers now; like she’s something precious, breakable.

Dean doesn’t get called beautiful. She gets called hot, sexy, gorgeous, fine. She’s always felt too hardened for a word as delicate as “beautiful.”

She trembles, tongue inching out to lick at her too dry lips. Sam’s gaze darts between her eyes and the motion. “You’re the kinda guy that asks before he kisses a girl, aren’t you?” Her voice is rough, uneven.

Sam bites his lip. He ducks his head, his soft bangs tickling against Dean’s forehead. It’s answer enough.

“You don’t have to ask me, Sam,” Dean whispers into the space between them.

If their first touch had been like electricity, then Sam closing the distance between their lips is like fireworks on the Fourth of July. Dean never bought into bullshit romantic sentiments like that before. Not even with Cassie, who was far from the first woman she’d slept with, but the only person in general who had genuinely mattered up until this point. She’d made Dean want to stay.

She’s feeling the same way now, here with Sam. Alarm bells are going off in her head, but Dean ignores them. Ignores them all and kisses Sam harder, wrapping an arm around his neck and pressing up on her toes. Dean parts her lips and Sam’s tongue slowly inches inside, causing them both to gasp quietly.

It stays at that pace way for ages, slow and deep and wet as they lick into one another’s mouths, swallowing moans under the dim light of the porch.

When they finally break away, Dean is trembling even harder, and Sam isn’t faring much better.

“Getting late,” Sam says, his voice thick and an octave lower. It’s fascinating, to know what he sounds like turned on, how he moans. Dean wants to hear it all, wants to drown in those sounds.

She also knows, clear as day, that they aren’t sleeping together tonight. That Sam means what he’s saying right now, not just as part of the first date cliche they were acting out.

She’s oddly cool with it. This pace that they’ve set seems right, necessary. And Dean is pretty sure that when they do take it further, it’s going to be like the tide rushing in.

Story with single sweetest moment: Probably the pre-reveal moment in Our Love Was Made for Movie Screens:

“There’s something I should tell you.”

“Yes?” Jensen asked, his heart abruptly in his throat.

“You’ll probably be hearing about it first thing Monday morning when it’s official, but -- your store is safe. We’re cancelling the build.”

“What?” He was stunned. It didn’t make any sense.

“I talked the board down. We’re going with the original Phase II proposal, an abandoned building in Beacon Hill. It doesn’t have the same prime location, and the money they’ll have to spend to get the building up to code and restoration efforts is comparable to the Phase I proposal costs, but it’s still feasible.” Jeff’s words sounded like one long ramble of business jargon to Jensen, his mind spinning at this turn of events.

“There’s still no guarantee that Emily’s will make it, Jensen,” Jeff said with feeling. “But, well, at least you’ll still be standing.”

“I…” A tangle of emotions twisted inside him. “That’s... all I ever -- thank you.”

Jeff regarded him quietly before nodding, expression less open than it was a minute ago. “You’re welcome.” He paused for a long moment. “You know, sometimes I wonder. If I hadn’t been Morgan Books and you hadn’t been Emily’s. And we’d just… met.”

Jensen held his breath.

“I would’ve asked for your number. Probably wouldn’t have been able to wait 24 hours before calling and asking you out.”

“Jeff,” Jensen started, heart pounding wildly. “I--”

“But then again, I put you through the ringer, didn’t I? Insulted you, tried to put you out of business. You probably can’t fully forgive all that. Not the way you can forgive... Bookman66 for standing you up.”

Jensen just looked at him, mouth working but no words coming out.

“Oh how I wish you would, though,” Jeff said, earnestly.

Most unintentionally *telling* story: two of my yuletide treats for sure. Can't Start a Fire Without a Spark is basically -- intentionally telling. Definitely And it's a long way back from Seventeen.

Fic that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: I think I learned a lot more about Casey while writing my Sports Night fics and making my mixes than I expected, and it definitely took me in some interesting places, headcanon wise.

Biggest disappointment: I really wish Can't Start a Fire Without a Spark had more love, as I adore it to pieces.

Biggest surprise: like I always say, I never know if this is supposed to mean biggest surprise in terms of a story or its reception or just biggest surprise in terms of writing this year. Biggest writing surprise was probably the Jensen/Jeff You've Got Mail AU. I never expected to go through with it. And also that I wrote Sports Night.

Hardest story to write: The still-yet-to-be-posted J2 porn au definitely dragged a lot. The last Sports Night was a bit harder than the first two.

Easiest story to write: All of the wincest fics, most which were post-eps, that I posted in Nov. and Dec. They were all ridiculously organic.

This year's theme and the story that demonstrates it most: The theme was basically music and pining. The story that demonstrates it most is probably a three way tie between Everybody Wants to be Someone's Here, Can't Start a Fire Without a Spark, and And it's a long way back from seventeen.

In terms of this year's goals: I'll be posting the pornstar au as part of the J2 big bang challenge. I don't really have any other plans, right now. I really enjoyed doing big bangs and mini exchanges this year (I think I participated in more than I ever have before) so I'll probably contribute to a few more of those again, perhaps even a reverse bang (which kind of intimidates me).

I was definitely more productive this year, which was nice. I definitely never expected to write Sports Night, which was nice as well.

In terms of fic music this year, I made 26 mixes this year. Some are fic related, some are not. Most are on my 8tracks, and a few on spotify. Two are still unposted.

The possibilities are endless and I'd adore anything!

Additional comments: I watched a few of the Once a Thief movie sequels recently and forgot how much I adored this dumb show, despite my often going back and re-reading fic. Additional comments: not too much to add here either. I love when the script is flipped and it's Bender who turns out to be the successful one. I love the thought of how these two can fit into one another's worlds, at the end of the film and if they do at all, or if they don't until years down the road. Hell, I'd even be down for a complete au and how they'd fit together in a completely different context. From my likes, any version of fuckbuddies to friends to lovers or fake dating would also be wonderful.

4. Disco 2000 - Storyteller, Deborah

One of my favorite songs. I'd love either past fic of them in school together and friendship/pining fic or current fic with what happens next. Do they meet up? Do they become real friends? Does he get along with Deborah's kid? Is her marriage not as perfect as he imagines it? Or a blend between past and present. I feel like the song gives so much to work with.

Additional comments: Basically what I said. Feel free to just run with it. Doesn't have to go to a happy ending shippy place. Could be a character study of their separate lives, or you could shift the canon of the song up a bit and make it a 10 year high school reunion in the year 2000, instead. I adore reunion circumstances, if you couldn't tell yet. Pulp is so quintessentially British, so if you could keep to some authenticness there, that'd be awesome. I know Deborah appears in the music video. I've actually never watched it, but feel free to run with any inspiration there, too. Also the character of the narrator/singer could be Jarvis, or could be an OC, I'm totally fine with either. Really, the fact that there was someone who offered to write this fandom on the sign-up summary just thrills me to pieces, so I'd be so happy with whatever your vision is for a fic based on this song :D

5. Velvet Goldmine - Curt/Arthur

Another standard want of mine: post-canon curt/Arthur. Falling in love or curtain fic or anything. I'll love it all

Additional comments: I was in Velvet Goldmine fandom in the 90s (yes, there was a fandom and it was big and there was tons of fic and honestly, if all that was still archived places this fandom probably wouldn't even qualify for yuletide. See also: Sports Night. But I digress) and I was a teenager back then and ridiculously, hopelessly in love with Curt/Brian. It's mostly all I read. And it's funny because as I've gotten older, I realize that -- the adult pairing here, the one that does really have the potential to make it and not be some self-destructive thing -- is Curt/Arthur. And I'm so, so interested in just -- seeing that explored. I want Arthur to run after him and just -- ask him out, go out on a date, fucking build something. So yeah, that's just what I think about when I think about Curt/Arthur. Whatever you come up with, be it something akin to this or something completely different -- will be brilliant. Again, these are just prompt ideas.

Personal thoughts on the text as it pertains to fanfic: I'm less interested in full-on AUs (i.e. it isn't set in the 70s, etc) with this fandom.

6. Point Break - Johnny/Bodhi

Yet again going with an old reliable: first time sex, bonus if it's on the beach or johnny's first time or tantric or just so super intense the way Bodhi would totally make it. Would also love a happy ending tbh, where Bodhi survives and Johnny never stopped obsessing over him and maybe a few years down the line after it doesn't work with Tyler they find each other again, Johnny living the way Bodhi used to and Bodhi ready to just settle down for once, the thrill not being as important as what he felt with Johnny, for the first time ever.

Personal thoughts on the text as it pertains to fanfic: I'm less interested in AUs/tropes with this fandom. Also, I'm not interested in fics that ignore/discredit female characters. Tyler is awesome and Johnny clearly cares for her. But he's also so clearly drawn to Bodhi. So if you go with my prompt of him reconnecting with Bodhi years later, please consider her importance in Johnny's life and the pain of that breakup. I believe they both were seeking something that they necessarily couldn't completely find within one another yet desperately wanted to and the realization of that and the letting go of one another finally would have been tough on him.

You don't really need this, I'm sure, but this is my Social Network Fic and RPF primer that I did way back when. Personal thoughts on the text as it pertains to fanfic: Like I say in the primer at one point, I don't read the harvard years as them ever having been together. I read it more as Eduardo pining and Mark being oblivious. So I'm less interested in stories in which they're together in Harvard, but that being said I've read some amazing ones like that that are great. Also, altho I do say I prefer happy endings, you'll note that I'll accept unhappy endings if that's canon. But if it can at all be avoided, that'd be wonderful too (I also did something I've never done since falling in love with this pairing and read up on the real life mark and eduardo: Eduardo apparently said he has 'no hard feelings' in 2012 and in 2014 he left a 'happy birthday facebook' note and praised Mark a lot. So. Yeah. Basically all the reconcilation fic is where I'm living right now and if that speaks to you at all then GO FOR IT).

6. My Own Private Idaho RPF - River Phoenix/Keanu Reeves

I said: Requesting this again bc these two really were my original RPF ship. These two said often they were soulmates snd a soulmate au would be both amazing and heartbreaking as fuck. Maybe one of those name on wrists things, oh god. But honestly I'll take anything. Canon, au, whatever.

2. Temple of the Dog RPF - Eddie Vedder/Chris Cornell

I said: I'm in love with the way they met, but I'm also in love with the way Eddie looks at Chris like the sun rises and sets with him. Seriously, anything at all here would be wonderful.

Additional comments/inspiration: Basically what I said above. I'll take whatever you give me. If you've offered to write these two, you probably know exactly what I'm talking about/love them the way I do.

AVC: You mentioned Temple Of The Dog earlier. For a lot of ’90s kids, this was their first experience not only with your music but Eddie Vedder’s as well. Obviously the album was incredibly personal, being rooted in the death of Andrew Wood from Mother Love Bone. Soundgarden was already fairly well known at this point, but you brought in Vedder, who hadn’t really broken the surface with Pearl Jam and Ten. What’s the story behind that collaboration?

CC: I don’t really remember it. [Laughs.] I kind of remember the basics but singing on that album happened so quickly. The song itself, it really wasn’t much of a song. It was a verse with just a kind of repeating chorus. It was just where we needed one more song for the album, and I had that down, but I hadn’t played it for anybody yet because I didn’t feel it was a complete song. But I knew we had nine songs, and I thought 10 would be a nice, even round number. I just figured that this would be the 10th song that would wrap up the album, and it would just be what it was, verse for verse and then repeating chorus sort of like a coda for the album listening experience. In rehearsing it, and I think we only rehearsed for two days for that album, but I was singing both parts of the song. I sang the high verse part and then the low chorus part and then the high chorus part and so on.

Eddie and the rest of them were waiting for us to finish because they were about to have one of their first rehearsals as Pearl Jam, and he saw me sort of struggling with it, so he just walked up to the mic and started singing the low part, and I started singing the high part. I immediately got this idea that his voice sounded so rich in that low register that it would become more of a song if I sang the first verse, then the whole band kicks in, and then he sings that verse again, but in effect it becomes a different verse. It’s a different person. It’s a different voice and a different everything. And I think I had that idea right there on the spot; we did it that way, and suddenly it was a real song. I hate to use that term “real song” but to me it was like: Okay, in just a moment this has become an arrangement that changes everything.

I never thought about it as being singular or anything because there were a lot of really well written songs that lent themselves to the notion of a single, but once we played it for other people, that was the choice that was made. But my memory of us singing it together is I just went in and sang my part, he went in and sang his part, and it took probably 40 minutes, and that was it. That was back in the day where you had no record budget, and that album in particular was recorded and mixed in a total of 14 days, not in a row.

2. Jack & Diane (2012) - Jack/Diane

I said: Another instance in which I just want someone to write me these two. I didn't love this movie, yet I couldn't stop thinking about this movie, if that makes sense? I'm essentially obsessed with the relationship between these two in it.

Additional suggestions: If I am lucky enough for you to write me something I'd prefer you stray away from actual werewolves and look at it more as the way the film intended -- which was a metaphor, essentially, for falling in love and what it can do to you. I'd really love either a missing scene or a coda or even a 'years later' type thing. You aren't bound by a happy ending for this one, but if you could give them one, that'd be cool. But most of all, I just care about the realistic exploration of life and romance and age and relationships.

3. The Conjuring - Brad/Drew

I said: I'm just so happy to see this fandom requested! I did it myself last year and never thought I'd see it on here again. Um, not to sound like a broken record or anything but-- LITERALLY ANYTHING.

Additional suggestions: With these two I've been obsessed with the idea of first dates, like, bonding over the things they have in common while being fiery over the things they don't. Bonus for awesome music references bc the 60s-70s :) But seriously, anything.

4. New York Rangers RPF - Ryan McDonagh/Derek Stepan

I said: So with these two I've had a strong desire for soulbond fic, if that is something you are so inclined to. If you know about them, then you know they've been playing together foreverrrrr. I don't care if it's in canon or an AU but SOULBONDS!! THEM!! That'd be my first choice, if I had to pick. But by all means, PLEASE DO YOUR THING. I swear I'll be happy.

I said: anything about them filming, having already known each other, the sexual tension of the script and how it makes their friendship blur into something more

I love the idea that they were both in a film like this, so utterly contrast to them being in twilight, and I really, really want just – their epic love story of totally falling for one another and how the material of the film maybe helped that along. Their chemistry in the film is so fucking palpable and they’re completely adorable in their interviews together.

As you can tell, I really, really would be happy with anything in any of these fandoms /o\ I hated this movie, but Kstew and Charlize are amazingly flirty and basically slashed themselves the entire press tour. I'd really love any sexual tension during/post filming but honestly I'd kill for a royalty au. Princesses! Arranged marriage!

3. The Conjuring - Brad/Drew

I said: These two had great interactions and background plot. And I shipped it hard. I'd absolutely a story of their extreme differences: belief vs skepticism and the way they form a bond anyway as Brad comes around to believing. Would love to see them staying in touch post-film and Brad awkwardly asking Drew on a date. Getting to know you and first times and all that good stuff.

These two didn't have much screen time but honestly they were way slashier than other pairings which also had little to no screen time yet are hugely possible. I really just latched on to their casual, snarky ease and their parallels. I'd love Brad being super awkward because he tries to act like he's this put together, strong dude yet he was totally out of his element while working the case and Drew impressed him with his chill confidence -- and yeah, he totally wants to hit that and maybe like, also hold the dude's hand or something.

4. Spring Breakers - Candy/Brit

I said: absolutely anything either post or pre film with lots of sexual tension and maybe one realizing they're completely in love with the other.

Exactly what I said. If it's post film, i'd love a sort of reflective what the hell do we do now type thing and them like, attempting to adjust if they really do just go back to their lives -- and maybe like, longing. Pre-film I'd love to see the first time they fooled around together. If you want to include the James Franco character in this, or Faith you totally can. I'd just prefer a more Candy/Brit slash-centric story. As well as their friendship dynamic.

chinatown - a mysterious skin story. beautiful, understated, lyrical. I'm obsessed with it. It is exactly the kind of quiet, hopeful story I was seeking. Totally in love.

your midnight girl - sometime around midnight (song) a bonus treatfic for me and oh my god, I adore it. The author perfectly filled the POV request in my prompt and then created her own world around this song, running with the obsession/desperation angle. This is wonderful.

Weekend (2011) - Russell/Glen

Weekend is very much like Before Sunrise in its setup and content. Jesse and Celine got their sequel -- now how about Russell and Glen. I would love to see them meet again, doesn't matter where -- it could be the US this time. I'd like it to be a few years down the road and to explore what happens when someone you developed an intense connection with in such a short period suddenly pops up. Are either of them in relationships? Do they talk and fall into conversation as easy as it always was? I'd love it for either a happy or ambiguous ending. I'd love real-life issues and how matters of the heart aren't always easy yet so powerful that you just want to forget about reality for a while.

Additional notes: I think this kind of says it all :)) Although I prefer happy endings like I stated above an open-ending is totally fine -- and even a bittersweet one is alright. No particular character's POV preference. You might be able to find Weekend on demand through your local cable company.

The Airborne Toxic Event - Sometime Around Midnight (song) - Boy/Girl

I would love an exploration of the relationship in the story; the background of how they got to this place and what happens afterward, if anything. The reason I love this song so much is because it's in 2nd person, and I have a sucker for songs that make use of that POV. I would naturally prefer the story to be in second person to, but if you can't do that, I understand.

Additional notes: Um, again, I think it kind of says it all? I'm fine if this one has an unhappy ending. I loved the imagery in the song, so that'd be really awesome in a story as well.

Mysterious Skin (2005) Neil McCormick & / Brian Lackey

I would love to see a complex look at Neil and Brian's relationship after the end of the book/film. Do they begin a friendship? Can it form into something more down the road, after a lot healing? I'd love something beautiful, delicate and realistic that doesn't shy away from the themes but also tries to give some hope and love into a bleak story.

Additional notes: I would just love something delicate and understated and really attempting to to delve into the complexity of the characters and the reality of this kind of knoweldge and how healing and love can possibly be found with the person you share this pain with -- how it can blossom into something beyond pain and hurt. For either person's POV would be fine here, or even alternating if that's your bag.

El Cor de la Ciutat Iago Vilches/Max Carbo

I would love to see a story set within the early days of their relationship. I loved Max's struggle with his attraction to Iago and I'd love to see that explored deeper. Their first time in the store, Max's feelings when Iago leaves and then comes back at the beginning. Alternatively, you could do something that takes place with Max's return at the end and their reunion and life after they leave. Honestly, anything would be perfect.

Additional notes: Honestly, I'm not picky with this one. Whatever you want to give, as long as it centers around the storyline (no AUs please!), is fine by me. Character studies with either of them is great too, and how their relationship plays into who they are -- maybe how Max made Iago want to be a better person. {all messed up in you: The Social Network Fanfic Primer}

So, you’ve been noticing a lot of your friends in Inception fandom are flailing over The Social Network, eh? Maybe you’ve seen the twitter squee, or maybe you’re a huge jibrailis fan (why wouldn’t you be?) and you see she’s been writing some TSN fic and you’ve read it even though you’re not in the fandom but you’ll read anything and everything she writes (as you should). So, you've read some fic and you’ve seen a handful of adorable pics and gifs and now you’re thinking hmmm, where would I start if I hypothetically wanted to get into this fandom?

Ask and ye shall receive. This is a primer to get you started on which fics to begin with. There are already two amazing primer’s for this fandom. One is Andrew/Jesse and the other
is Mark/Eduardo. You should check out both of those (there are awesome videos!) as this is not to replace those and doesn't focus as much on the actors or characters.

That being said, we do need to talk a little about these boys.

The Actors

Andrew Garfield is someone who I posted about back in August prior to the release of both Never Let Me Go and The Social Network. I said then that he was bound to be more well known soon. No one on my flist (at that time) was really talking about him. Now, he’s everywhere. He’s incredibly talented and utterly adorable with his ridiculous hair and clothes.

Jesse Eisenberg, meanwhile, has been one of Hollywood’s most talented young actors for years now. He’s utterly unreal and his performance in The Social Network is one of the most amazing film performances I’ve ever seen. Jesse is not a typical ‘star’. He is introverted, down to earth, awkward. He listens to musical theater on vinyl, collects maps and reads Russian history rather than watching films or movies. Andrew, on the other hand, is very much into music and clothes and the like. The fact that these two became so damn close while filming seems like an anomoly but they did.

Here’s just a few of the essential quotes, as I won’t get into too many (you can find your fill on the other primer) and visual proof of the adorable sunshiney happiness that is this pairing.

They like to hold hands/touch. A lot.

This is after Jesse he says ‘you should’ve seen me at 13’ and Andrew responds, softly, with: ‘I really wish I had.’

Again, the fic (and AU’s even) writes itself.

JESSE: I also feel inspired to go off book, um, and ask Andrew, um, in this movie my character falls out of love with your character. How did you fall in love with me on screen?
JUSTIN: And off.
JESSE: And or off.
ANDREW: Um, I could choose to answer this honestly… and I’m going to. There’s something about your face, that kind of um, engenders (laughing), a kind of… a well of um… joy! Springs from my soul. And uh, it’s pure projection. It’s nothing personal. It’s actually nothing to do with you; it’s just that you remind me of a dog I once had that I was very much enamored by.
JESSE: Whatever it takes.
ANDREW: And your physicality is that of um…
JESSE: A dog?
ANDREW: Yeah, well, yeah. A dog.
JESSE: Was it a golden retriever?

Andrew:

“My connection with Jesse - I could talk about that for days and weeks and months and years. We, um, there were some subconscious forces happening as we were going on this sort of rehearsal process, and it was probably more from just my own perspective, but my subconscious knew I had to fall in love with him. And have a genuine love for him, and it was easy to project on such a kind and innocent face. And innocent soul.”

Basically it all comes down to this (and yes, the text is real)

The Stories (that's what you're here for, right?)

If you’re going to start on Andrew/Jesse fic, here is my recommended reading order:

1) The only place to start is Carry It In My Heart by Robin Pulaski . It’s epic, really. That’s the only word for it. This fic takes you through their meeting and filming. She uses tons of real life events that you honestly wouldn’t believe actually happened – that’s how much like fanfic these two are in real life. She is going to be writing the companion piece to this story and is now considering the first part as complete. This also has amazing epistolary sections as well.

2) Next, there’s only one place to go: Kiss By the Book. This is a WIP and it is possibly one of the cutest things you’ll ever read. You will want to quote the entire thing back to the author. WIP.

3) From there I would go to Don’t Carry It All. It’s the E-Harmony AU. It’s un-fucking-real. Because these two and their interviews seriously ARE an E-harmony ad waiting to happen.

4) Then I'd do a great TSN reunion fic. Never Had a Choice (When It Came to You)

5) Then I’d dive right into an epic Starbucks AU. Oh. My. God. Ten Cups of Coffee

6) Then I’d read the Shelter AU of EPIC CUTENESS WHAT EVEN. And if you've seen Shelter, you'll know this is only very VERY loosely based on it and that's totally fine. This has become something original in it's own right and it's perfect.

7) Next up, try a fic that really delves into Jesse’s neuroses. It’s refreshing a little achy (in terms of his own subconscious) but overall incredibly sweet. It’s also refreshing to see someone tackling his body image issues. This is, after all, a man who said that if people saw him with his shirt off they wouldn’t have babies. And no, he wasn’t being modest. Less of a Hobby, More of a Fixation

8) Afterwards, I’d head to the office romance AU ever cross your mind

9) And then I’d do an Amnesia AU. Boy this fandom has some amazing Amnesia AU’s Nameless But Not Unknown

10) Then I’d go to the Andrew winds up with a Baby fic. Stay Awake When I'm Asleep

11) And I'd end your first dips into the pool with a Jesse is a playwright, Andrew is an Actor WIP.

The thing to take away from this set of recs? Read everything Harriet Vane/Passe_Simple writes. EVERYTHING.

Note: There's an amazing story in which they are roommates -- but I can't rec right now as it's temporarly flocked. I will add it when it's not anymore.

The Film

In terms of Mark/Eduardo – it’s ridiculous how much Eduardo was portrayed as the boyfriend in the film. I went into this film with it being my most anticipated of the Fall season and this had nothing to do with fandom – I didn’t expect to get a fandom out of it, and I doubt anyone else did either. But there were two essential scenes in the film, which I actually outlined in my review. When I look back on it now I find it funny that I focused on those two moments, because my head was not in a fandom mind-frame by that point. The way Garfield portrayed Eduardo is really fascinating and it brings an entire layer to the film that might not have existed if the role had been played by someone else.

And here’s the one moment in the film in which I believe (and Jesse basically confirmed) that this was "Jesse looking at Andrew" not "Mark looking at Eduardo"

Jesse said this:

And it was upsetting to me—you’re so heartbreaking at the end of the movie and it was upsetting me personally, but I don’t think it affected Mark as greatly as it affected me, and it was almost difficult to, like, separate myself from the lack of feelings my character had for you.

You can totally tell as it’s the one time he drops character. The look is too soft – too fond. Mark isn’t like that – Mark controls his feelings (but not his words), which is why most of the adorableness in Mark/Eduardo fic comes from Mark trying to express his feelings; or moreover, realizing he *wants* to.

With Mark/Eduardo I personally tend to read a lot of AU’s. Theirs is a tragic tale and the fics which fix them are fantastic but the AU’s themselves seem to stand out to me. Because of this, I will break these recs down into essentials by category. Sometimes, the Mark/Eduardo AU’s seem like they could easily be Andrew/Jesse – depending on the AU. But most of the time the writers focus on Mark and his anti-social behavior and his asshole-ish nature yet given the medium the writers can explain it more, make it work where we don’t *hate* Mark.

Honestly, there's so many "areas" of canon. Bea's Recs has a great set-up for all of that -- breaking things down into harvard era, palo alto era, post-deposition, etc.

The Stories in recommended reading order for each category

Canon Compliant Fics

1. Never Marry For Money (You Can Borrow It Cheaper) Basically the first place I would start on canon fic. The best thing about canon fic is the ways in which the author's attempt to bring the characters back to one another. Very often, tropes are instilled. Enter your Woke Up Married/Arranged Marriage trope. This is utterly fantastic and not crackfic in the slightest.

2. the star to every wandering bark This is stunningly gorgeous and subtly realistic story of Mark and Eduardo recapturing their friendship -- and then Eduardo realizes he's falling in love.

3. Crept out the Front Door Slow -- I'm not a firm believer of them being together pre-film. I tend to read it as: Eduardo was totally in love and Mark was oblivious. But this -- wow. There's so many layers here and she takes us into the future and gives us a possibly hopeful ending. Really, really fantastic.

4. vanderlyle crybaby geeks -- Brilliant future fic in which Eduardo is presumed dead but ends up being alive with amnesia. He and Mark attempt to find their way back to one another. WIP.

5. The Curious Case of Eduardo in the Night-Time jibrailis has one of the best 'Mark' voices in fandom. This is a really great post-deposition future fic. She isn't afraid to give her Mark flaws.

6. Mockingbirds -- another fic that tries to repair the rift via a trope. This time: kidfic. So good. Continued here

7. It might be a good time to stop and read this. Because sometimes, it's sharp and painful and it can't be fixed. hold you by the edges

8. Throw Your Back Into It -- More awesome jibrailis with more amazing Mark voice.

AU's

1. Sweet on You --- aka the Bakery AU. It's basically one of the most adorable things you'll ever read. It's epic both length and it's sweetness. You won't stop smiling. You will be the happiest panda around. With pony cookies.

2. Fortune's in Men's Eyes -- This is an AU but -- but honestly, it follows a lot of the trajectory just at different times. This is unbelievable. Eduardo is the Prince of Brazil who goes to Harvard and they meet. Continued here. WIP.

3. Call To Me With Words I Never Knew -- This is one of my favorite Mark's ever. Mark meets Eduardo when he's already CEO of Facebook and Eduardo is an investor. This story is simply fantastic.

4. Shaped Like a Question Mark -- The Librarian AU by jibrailis. This is incredible. Not only is her Mark still one of my favorites around, but she keeps the dynamics of the core canon conflict and just -- tweaks it into a different universe. So impressive. So adorable. Utter perfection.

5. the years they come and go (but today is here to stay) -- They meet when Eduardo visits his dad for the summer. So incredibly adorable.

6. Best Practices in Workplace Relationships-- Eduardo is hired as Mark's personal assistant. So. Good. There's now a sequel as well. Just follow the A03 link.

7. Baby, Nothing Comes for Free -- Pretty Woman AU. Perfect. WIP.

8. Shameless AU -- Never seen the source material but this is kinda perfect.

9. Call Me (Any, Anytime) -- Mark is a tech support person on campus and still creating Facebook. They "meet" when Eduardo has computer problems

The “Characters”

There’s a steady round-up of most seen "characters" in fics, both in the RPS and the canon fic.

Emma Stone – Emma is very often Jesse’s friend in fics and most often dons the role of awesome matchmaker. What’s great about Emma (in the non-AU’s) is that she, in real life, played in a film in which she was Jesse’s love interest and now she’s playing Andrew’s. So she’s often the link between the boys if they’re being silly and haven’t told one another how they feel yet. I adore her.

Carey Muligan – Pretty much has the same role as Emma, except she’s Andrew’s BBF. Both co-star and close RL friend, Carey and Andrew together in fics are a formidable team of bounciness. They are rather adorable. <3333

The other two of the OT4

Joseph Mazzello/Dustin Moskovitz --- In the film, Dustin was the sparse comedic relief. In the fic’s, he’s a ball of bouncy sunshine. As is Joe, who just seems like a generally happy person. All of the best lines go to Joe/Dustin. Dustin loves to pick on mark and goad about Eduardo. Joe loves to do the same. Basically, you will smile like mad while reading either one of these guys.

Chris Hughes - He’s barely in the film but he’s given a ton of screen time in fic. Yet unlike Dustin, his actor counterpart is completely ignored. Chris is often the one trying to keep the peace, keep the santity, and keep Dustin in line. Sometimes he aligns with Dustin in matchmaking, sometimes he’s paired with Dustin. In real life, Chris is out and proud and dating an adorable guy who is part of the Freedom to Marry coalition. Chris is, all in all, awesome.

i had to get that post done before i could talk about anything else. so: yuletide. I received two beautiful stories (is there a way to find out which story was from the person who was originally assigned to you?)

both are written around the album Hospice by The Antlers and both are gorgeous and sharp and in different way they both fit into the album easily. I'm so happy that this prompt was able to inspire stories such as this.

five per cent - a wonderful stream of conciousness story from the narrator's point of view.

dig me out from under the house - Sharp and achingly beautiful interpertation.

I plan on re-reading both of these while listening to the album.

Thus far, my recipent has not yet responded to their story. I hope it's just the holiday time. I also have a treat fic that has yet to be revealed. I was considering writing one myself but I'm not sure I have it in me.

Today was supposed to be my annual borders day with cinemageek but an impending blizzard caused her to leave last night instead of today. this is the other reason my xmas sucks this year. So.. yeah. Feeling pretty damn bummed. Watching Freaks and Geeks on IFC right now. Last night we saw True Grit which was rather fantastic. Today I guess i'll just read some yuletide and prepare what I'm going to buy online at borders.com, since we're doing a virtual shopping day instead.. sigh.

There was a lot of subtext going on between Warren and Dennis. I love to see the aftermath of the play explored, as well as their relationship. You could keep it gen or make it more, it's totally up to you.

I don't believe anyone has ever written This is Our Youth fic, besides myself and that was just a mini ficlet years ago. (If someone has, I'd love to see it!) I nominated this and honestly, any added on addition to the play, either taking place before, during, or after would be so lovely. Do whatever you want, honestly, I will be so overjoyed either way.

Hospice (album), Two (song)

I’d love something set around the song Two, but honestly, you can do whatever you want with any song or combination of songs. The vivid storytelling in this album is fantastic and devastating. If you haven't checked out the liner notes, that's definitely a place to start -- I thought I loved the album prior to reading the lyrics but honestly, the lyrics and the way the liner notes are laid out bring a whole other element to the album. You don't have to stick with Two if you don't want -- any song on the album is perfection. Again, this is one I did a wrote in nomination for and whatever you do will be perfect. (And I seriously don't expect, or necessarly want, happy endings with this one).

Anything! Seriously, no matter what you do, it will be amazing because Mo is amazing. Give me a new Elephant and Piggie adventure or The Pigeon getting into more mischief or a crossover of epic proportions. Anything goes!

Yeah, that's really all I have to say about this one! It's so much fun and when I requested last year I got some awesome stuff in return.. You could go totally cracktastic and have Elephant and Piggie watching one of your favorite movies (Elephant and Piggie analyze Inception, anyone?) or cross them over with other cartoon characters.. Whatever! Have fun with this one! :D

Love & Human Remains (1993), David/Kane

David and Kane's interactions are some of my favorite to exist in any medium. They're filled with clever wit, ease, and yet palpable underlying tension. Just give me more of these two, trying to make a go of it.

Back in the day Mona Ramsey, I believe, wrote some awesome Love & Human Remains fic. I've only seen a handful of fics exist ever and loved them all. I believe I originated the nomination of this fandom on yuletide a few years ago and yet this is the first time I'm finally requesting it for myself. For this story, I'd love the rating to be a bit mature as that's how I see their relationship: very sexually tense and very emotional. Your verse can follow the film or follow the play (if you've happen to have read it), they're pretty similiar.

eta: okay, so it turns out I *have* previously requested Love and Human Remains. Here's what I said in my 2008 Dear Yuletide Letter. The same still applies:

I love this movie so much. I first saw it years ago and fell in love with David and Kane. The things I particularly love about the two of them, and the whole movie really, is the crispness of the dialogue. And the realness of their relationship. So the movie ends a little different from the play, with David going for auditions and David saying 'i love you' to both candy and kane, so we can assume he loves Kane. The play ends with the promise of David and Kane's relationship as well. Those who know Brad Fraser's work know he also wrote Poor Super Man, in which David was the main character. However, Kane is nowhere to be seen. So presumably they broke up. Poor Super Man was also turned into a movie, entitled Leaving Metropolis, which I've yet to see. But you don't need to break David and Kane up bper se. A story about David actually adapting to their relationship and accepting it would be cool.

Here's a max and iago picspam from el cor de la ciutat. A seperate picspam of Marc Clolet, the actor who plays Iago, will follow. I'll also include a brief primer for anyone interested.

THIS IS MAX

The storyline of Max and Iago begins while Max, a longtime character on the show is still with his boyfriend Enric. Max, who is studying medicine in college, and Enric have faced the problems of Enric being closeted and overcome them; after they move in together Enric begins to get bored and soon they're attempting an open relationship. This appears to work at first and even improve their sex life but while Enric is totally into it, Max is not. During this, he meets Iago, son of Berta who is a friend of his adoptive mother, Clara. Max is angered over how Clara takes Iago in and how his father, Beni, is also taking to Iago so easily. Max feels he's losing them both. While dealing with all of his issues with Enric, he has some random encounters with Iago, which escalate during Beni's birthday party as Iago kisses Max, unexpectedly. Max eventually breaks up with Enric but his problems only just begin as he deals with the fact that Iago was a thief and hasn't completely changed his ways and worse yet, he's completely falling for him.

I didn't want to give too much away but I thought it was important to point out that throughout the early run-ins with Max and Iago there is a ton of stuff going on with Max and Enric that you will not see in this particular set of youtube clips of the storyline.

Got my assignment! I can do this.. just a matter of getting highly motivated. Right now I've been focusing on writing film reviews. Anyway:

My requests and a bit of expansion:

Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run (album), Backstreets or Thunder Road

A story about either one of these songs would be wonderful. However, I've always wanted a straight-up interpretation of Backstreets as the song itself is incredibly slashy. I don't know how anyone cannot believe Terry is a guy.

Thunder Road is my favorite song of all-time. Backstreets is right up there too. I'd love an expansion on either story. And as sad, I do have a particular soft spot for the story within Backstreets. I'll always look at it as a m/m teenage love story. Sorry, there's really not much else to say here. With either of these, I wouldn't mind if you did make it a wistful ending. Again, whatever you come up with would absolutely thrill me.

I suggested this fandom tihs year. One of my favorite films. I honestly do not care which character you focus on as I think every single one has something unique to them. You could even write about the parents, totally fine with me! You could go the slashy route if you wish although I didn't find the film overtly slashy. Still, there's a lot of pain within Dennis Quaid's character, and exploring the complexity of him along with maybe some comfort would be fine.

Another fandom I suggested. The detail within these songs, the imagery they provoke is gorgeous. I like the Crane Wife 1 and 2 mildly more. The Crane Wife has always reminded me as a cross between Ladyhawke and Stardust. What you do with the details of the orgin story is so intriguing to me. You can name 'The Man' whatever you wish. I listed him as 'The Man' in my original nomination because we are never given a name.

Oh Mo Willems! Oh Elephant and Piggie! Another fandom I suggested this year. I listed the pigeon here even though he does have his own books. Feel free to cross them over if you wish. I also mentioned Doctor Cat who was introduced in the latest book. I love that we get to meet a new character. Again really anything light and fun within the writing style and tone of the books. Please don't make elephant and piggie have graphic sex, okay? lol. I think they definately love each other and you could do something like 'My Friend Has a Crush On Me' lol, but nothing.. graphic. that's just weird ;)
