Tutorial #1
Today, we're going to be making my Sayid icon in Photoshop. Go us.

I'm assuming that you at least have a basic knowledge of Photoshop, (i.e. can crop and know how to uses brushes and things).
1. Select your image. I used an image of Sayid from the latest episode of LOST, All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues. Not particularly spoilary, I don't believe... don't hope, anyway... he's laying there... yeah.

2. Crop your image, and then size down to 100x100. Remember never to center on an image. It's always good to have it a little off center so you can put text on nicely.

3. From now on, It'd be best to label your layers as you add them, to save confusion. In the end, I'll include a screencap of my layers, for you to double check, because I'll probably confuse you.
I'm working my way up, by the way, unless specified. So layer one is under layer two, and so on.
Anyway, duplicate your base layer twice, and make layer one screen and layer two soft light. Chances are, your subject will be a little shiny, like Sayid here. We'll get to that in due time, trust me.

4. For layer three, take a layer of color #0B4269 (a darkish blue), and set it to exclusion. Place this between layer one and two. Not quite as shiny, but now he's washed out.

5. Layer five. Take a reddish gradient (I used
), and place it on a layer between three and two. So, on top of the blue, but below the soft light. Set this layer to hue.

6. Now, take a grayish gradient (I used
), and put it on two new layers. Layer five should be set on Linear Burn, and layer six should be on Color Dodge, 63% opacity. These two should then be moved on top of layer two.

7. This is where it gets a little iffy and you can go your own way on it all. It's time for brushes. I used some darkener brushes, and some lines, and little texts that you can't tell what it says anyway and it doesn't matter. It all comes out to end up looking like this:
. I added this WAY back down between your base and layer one.

8. Now, we add the red blood spatters, from varying different shades of red on two different layers, between layer two and the gray layers. These are up to you what you do with them... they just look cool.

9. Now it's another experimental line brushe thingy. This adds the black bar. This is added above the blood spatters. Ends up like this:

10. Just a plain border above this layer, and then text above those. For 'find a bottle' I used Georgia pt 9, and for 'put me in' I used Beautiful ES, size 14. This are put between the border and the gray layers.
Final product:
All the layers lined up all pretty:

If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask. This is my first tutorial, so it's probably a little rocky...
