FAQ - general//

Questions mostly related to Guilty Gear or stuff I do parallel to Guilty Gear interests.

Is there a way to keep up with your projects without checking Tumblr, Bluesky, or Neocities manually?:
Yes. I used to have a newsletter through Substack, but they refuse to do anything about their nazi problem (source1, source2) or transphobia problem (source1, source2), so I deleted my account. The best way to keep up with my site's updates at the moment is via RSS feed. There's a blog portion to my site with more about that over here, but here's the direct link to the feed itself: feed link. If you're unsure about how RSS works, I wrote a whole blog entry about it that you can read HERE and there's more info about them (and more feeds) over on the Big List of Neocities RSS Feeds website.

My site's RSS feed updates for both the front page general site updates and whenever I wrote a longer, proper blog post, too. As infrequent as those are.
I have a lore question:
Check the Guilty Gear Wiki first. If you can't find your answer on there, you can try leaving a message in my guestbook, or emailing me at junkyarddogmkii@gmail.com. I get a lot of messages and sometimes take forever to answer them or just don't answer at all, but I do read and appreciate them.

Translations //

Can I use scans/translations for stuff?:
You can use them for any personal/non-commercial projects like icons, banners, blog themes, etc. Credit is nice, but not required. Remember I don't own any of this stuff. I'm not going to pretend like I do. But I do really fuckin hate Twitter and Reddit so if you crosspost them over there, I will be complaining about it in at least one group chat.
Can I repost your translation or book scan files?:
Yes. Reposts keep unofficial scans and translations from succumbing to internet entropy. There's a lot we wouldn't have in the archives if someone hadn't reuploaded it somewhere else 20 years ago. Credit is nice, but not required.
Can I translate stuff you've scanned/archived?:
Absolutely 100%. The GG community doesn't have many fan translators so anyone that's not one of the few regulars doing something new gets us all very excited. Please link me to anything you translate and I'll share it around!!
How long does stuff take?:
Begin took about 6 months exactly, Artworks of GGX 2000-2007 took a little over 8 months. The Overture short stories took 1-2 entire days, so like maybe 8-15 hours of work total. Manga take a lot of work.
Where do you buy physical books at?:
Otakurepublic for doujinshi; eBay (USA and eBay Japan*), suruga-ya.jp, Yahoo Auctions JP, or Mercari JP for manga/art books/everything else. Buyee is my go-ro proxy but Japan Rabbit is really good too, if you've had issues with Buyee or something. *eBay Japan might redirect to a how-to-buy page if you're too far outside Japan but you can browse it via Buyee or using a VPN set to Japan.
Is there anything I can do to help you translate?:
I don't really work on these on any kind of schedule, but I loathe making manuscripts so if you've got any raw Japanese text files laying around for some of this stuff...

Archives //

I have something I'd like you to put into the GG masterpost archive or the hentai doujinshi archive. How can I submit it?:
Send me an email at junkyarddogmkii@gmail.com with either "GG masterpost" or "doujinshi archive" as the subject. I don't have a lot of space on my website because my Neocities account is a free one, so I'd prefer it if art books, doujinshi, or other large files were hosted on Archive.org first. If you don't know how to upload on there or don't want to make an account, I will do it for you.

INCLUDE AS MUCH OF THIS INFORMATION AS YOU KNOW:
- Who originally scanned the doujinshi/book.
- Who originally translated it.
- Do you want credit for sending it in? Yes/No

If you do not include this information or don't mention why you don't have/can't find the information, I will not respond. Some people in the GG community get territorial about their scans/translations and I'm not going to make that my problem. Again.

Art //

Do you know what medium Daisuke Ishiwatari draws in?:
Pre-Xrd, he drew in mostly markers with some acrylic or gouache paintings here and there. Post-Xrd he seems to be doing digial art only. He wrote a guide on how he does marker illustrations in the back of Artworks of GGX 2000-2007. I translated it into English. You can read it over on Archive.org
Who are some other artists that worked on Guilty Gear?:
Toshimichi Mori did some stuff in the GGX to early GGXX era before he started work on Blazblue. Kenta Asano hopped on with Xrd and does a lot of the collab and merch art that Daisuke would have done back in the pre-Xrd era. Emiko Iwasaki has done work for GGX and XX, as well as handled the art direction for the two Petit games. Sumeragi has also done a bunch of work for GG, such as the official Story Digest Comic, the Xrd chibis, and some of the 4koma/anthology manga chapters. She later went on to do work for Blazblue and has done a lot of doujinshi. Guilty Gear has a ton of artists, including but not limited to: Imai Kami, Yuki Kato, G=HIKOROU, Denki Akiba (various Anthology Comic chapters, the HELIOGENOMS doujinshi), Dowman Sayman, Wolfina, and so on.

FAQ - personal //

Stuff relating to me, Radguy, and not Guilty Gear itself.

How long have you been into Guilty Gear?:
I heard Holy Orders from GGXX in 2013 and was fully consumed by the disease when I watched my friend play Strive in August 2021.
Are you a Sol fictionkin:
Yeah. Don't expect me to talk about it much. There's a page on my Neocities that has resources and explains the concept of it.
Who coded your website?:
Me. Excuse the jank.
Sol Radguy origin story?:
Alright. So, in August 2021 when I'd just freshly gotten into GG Strive, a Tumblr user whose url now displays as "872111983," which is NOT what it was back then, made a bunch of Sol Badguy edits. I used to do a lot of retrowave/synthwave inspired neon art with grids n sunglasses n shit, and "Sol Radguy" really tickled my pickle. I changed my url from a Fallout inspired one to solradguy because of it. They have no idea how much this single .PNG changed my life lol. Here it is:
Sol Badguy doing a kickflip on a skateboard with the words 'Sol Radguy' edited over it.
...Bedman?:
No.

Personal Art //

When do you do art requests/may I request something?:
I almost never have time for requests anymore, but you might be able to catch a commission slot over on my Artistree page.
Can I use your art for stuff?:
You can use it for anything person/non-commercial but, unlike with the scans, please post a credit somewhere for either my GG handle (solradguy) or my art handle, Somnivagrious.
Do you sell/make merch?:
Yeah. I sell it over on my Ko-fi page. I always do small batches though, and very, very, rarely reprint stuff. If it's sold out, that's probably it. There are print-to-order prints over on Inprnt
