Seriously Pissed!
Like any author, I love that my stories are enjoyed and people want to pimp them out. It's flattering and welcomed wholeheartedly. What isn't welcomed is when people don't ask permission first before taking my story and translating them in a different language without asking me first. I've allowed it in the past, but that doesn't mean I will now, or I might have. All this person had to do was ask me first, but they didn't. Instead, I find out that they rewrote my entire story in Russian without a single word to me. I wrote the story as a gift for
valady. They even have the banner I made posted there and everything! I tried to leave them a comment to take the story down. but I don't understand Russian, so I don't know if I did it properly. The story can be found here: Maskarada if anyone knows how to work the damn site.Yes, my name is given and a link is posted to the English version of my story, but that isn't the case here.
Also, I found several people who took my story and re-posted them to their websites or blogs. Again, names and links were given, but why wasn't I asked first? You clearly know where to find me. I'm not a hard person to get into contact with, so what was stopping these people from taking two seconds to ask me if they had any right to take such liberates?
It's a sad thing that now I will need to put on every one of my stories: Do NOT take my stories without asking. Do NOT re-write my stories into a different language! Do NOT take anything, use anything without my permission!
I mean, come on, people! This is common sense stuff!! DON'T TAKE WITHOUT ASKING!
Am I overreacting? Am I getting upset over nothing? Someone please tell me, because I just can't shake how enraged I am right now.
