We care because they're worth it.
We care because we see.
We care because sometimes they can't,
And that's when we need to be
There for them in the best of times,
There for them in the worst,
There for them in the deepest darks,
Sometimes 'gainst all the world.
I cannot promise safety.
No one ever truely can.
I only do what dragons do
and try to hold your hand.
Sometimes when things are darkest,
And all the light seems lost,
We need someone to guide us,
Even if't reminds us of pain's dear cost.
There are no quick solutions.
Most lessons are learned in pain.
And yet, sometimes, we are surprised
To find colored windowpane.
So I say "To hell with hatred.
To hell with suffering and pain."
There is no light that shines as bright
as what strikes that windowpane.
Sometimes the light can't see it.
Sometimes it fears it's blind.
But even when it's raw and hurt,
We're glad to see it shine.
