Lazarucius, The First Angel
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
This character was part of an unfinished concept I was working on, just before I got sucked into The AdvAnTAGE Project. To make up for missing my weekend post, here he is. I've included my summary of the story concept. Let me know what you think and if this is something you'd like to see in the future.
To explain the premise of the story, since the summary doesn't get to it, I imagined him being summoned in a few random stories throughout ancient history, only to then be brought to the present by whoever and made a sidekick while this person did a thing. That's how far into the brainstorming I got. ^^'

Before the moon and the stars, before the whole of the Earth was formed, before the creation of time, there was nothing. A void existed, but it was not empty. A single being filled this void, ageless, having never been born and never to die. Countless millennia of nothingness caused this being to ponder. Perhaps it should fill this void? And so it began. The void was to be formed into a universe, filled with stars and planets, teeming with life.
This all-powerful being did not speak the world into existence, but instead began with the Loshadnyk. By using infinitesimal portions of its power, it breathed life into the first race of Angels and became the Father to the living. Loyal and steadfast, these beings had little will of their own, except to serve. He, The One, the all-powerful and all-knowing Creator, sent out these creatures to begin His work. Millions upon millions entered the void and constructed the universe as He saw fit, and so it was that the Almighty Father saw His vision come to life.
Countless stars and innumerable planets soon inhabited the darkness, filling what was once an empty and limitless void. Once the Loshadnyk had completed their work, he gave them a new project. They set the worlds in motion, commanded them to orbit, and ignited the fires within each and every star, the radiance flowing throughout the formerly dark universe. Meanwhile, the Creator began another project. For all of the creatures he’d breathed into existence, none properly extolled His glory, but that would soon change.
It was He who seeded the universe with life, while the Loshadnyk, His first creations, built the homes of His future children. Lesser angels were created, to serve as his mediators. These ageless, nearly perfect beings, would serve to communicate with His mortal creations, of which there are many. Millennia passed and the Loshadnyk continued their work, while He formed species after species, race after race, and seeded countless worlds.
One planet in particular caught His eye. On this world, He created something that would draw more attention than the others. A race formed after Himself. So great was His love for this one world, the angels grew jealous. One in particular, the most intelligent and beautiful of the lesser angels, could not let go of his anger. Consumed by pride, this angel convinced many others, a third of his kin, to fight and overthrow the Almighty Father.
This war among His rebellious angels took up much of His time, and so it was that the Loshadnyk, still away from His realm, building His universe, were forgotten. Originally empty vessels, they had gradually developed wills and ideas of their own; left with millennia of work to occupy their Heavenly bodies and minds, their idle hands formed new minds.
However, realizing their plight, most could only think of returning to Him. What else was there? They arrived in time to join the war of the angels. For as beautiful, intelligent and powerful as he was, the prideful and rebellious angel, and his minions, were no match for the Almighty Father or the Loshadnyk, who were strong enough to craft the universe as He saw fit.
Those Loshadnyk who returned ended the war and in short order the prideful angel and his followers were banished from His realm. Thrown from Heaven, they fell to the Creator's favorite world, Earth, and formed their own realm, the antithesis of His. With Hell now theirs, and Earth as their battlefield, the prideful angel, often called “Satan” or “Lucifer”, would spend his days awaiting the final judgement, tempting the Creator’s mortal children and tarnishing them.
Meanwhile, many Loshadnyk remained spread throughout the universe, still forgotten and still abandoned. With their work accomplished and little to do but sit and wait, these beings, now with a will of their own, began to wander. Some sought enlightenment, others sought petty pleasures to occupy their unending lives. Still others found worlds that He had seeded, and began to meddle in the affairs of the mortal races of other planets, and even of the Earthlings, purely for their own amusement.
It seems that He had forgotten His first race so thoroughly, that they moved and manipulated without stoking His ire. Seeing the untold power of the Loshadnyk, the strongest of the lesser angels, Satan and his minions, began a campaign to lure them in. Satan is no match for even the weakest of the Loshadnyk, who carry a piece of His power within them, and so Satan and his minions seeks to gain His power by luring as many to their demonic cause as they can.
In order to accomplish this, he sent the lesser angels, the only immortal beings capable of communicating properly with the mortals, to teach them the forbidden knowledge; he gave them the power of summoning. For the first time, the mortal races of Earth could commune with the otherworldly, to speak and learn from those ancient beings who have seen and learned much more than any mortal could hope to see and learn, even in their wildest dreams.
This brings us to Lazurucius. As one of the Loshadnyk, he is directly responsible for forming many of the stars and some of the worlds at the very edge of the universe. When the war between the fallen and His loyal angels commenced, Lazurucius was blissfully unaware, left to finish his work without a word. Like the others of his kind, he sat and waited, pondering and developing a will of his own. When it became clear that he was forgotten, panic set in.
He spoke with some of his kin, and though many chose to returned to the Almighty Father, their creator, Lazurucius was conflicted. Angry and hurt, he stayed away from the conflict, and though Satan sent minions to temp him into joining, he would not be commanded by a lesser angel, no matter how charming. If he so desired, Lazarucius could swiftly and easily defeat the weak demon, “Satan”, the arrogant one who calls himself king of the underworld.
Discontent and without direction, Lazurucius began to explore the universe, seeking fulfillment elsewhere. He meddled in the development of lesser races that He had also seemingly abandoned, only to find himself moving closer and closer to Earth. As the war in Heaven raged on, Lazurucius met with the primitive beings, who’d learned how to summon thanks to Satan’s minions, and through the mortal realm he learned of the pleasures they had to offer. Food, drink, lust...
Over the course of several millennia, Lazurucius enjoyed his time with the mortals, serving as the foundation for many of the Ancients’ male fertility gods. Over time, however, the war in Heaven was settled, and the Almighty Father sought to reclaim His favorite world and the creations therein. Through clever use of mediaries and worldly manipulation, He saw to it that fewer and fewer people recalled the forbidden knowledge.
Soon, only a select few, who’d survived the great flooding and the world-cleansing cataclysms, could bring forth the angels and demons. Lazarucius, trapped in the spiritual world, was brought forth less and less, and over time, began pinning for someone to release him, to allow him free reign in the realm of the mortals. Would he ever attain such freedom? Only unending time will tell...

The concepts are gargantuan, so far beyond my tiny mortal mind, so I wonder how one could create a good narrative.
Also superheroes need their flaws (otherwise, where is the tension), but can the one true god have significant imperfections?
As for flaws, they should've been evident. Lazarucius is a somewhat selfish, cocky guy who has had a lot of pleasurable experiences... Before he was trapped in the spirit realm! In the story he'd be all but enslaved to a mortal, whom he would inevitably see as inferior. It would mostly be about the mortal anyway, with Lazarucius as a sidekick of sorts. Chances for character development for both parties or maybe not.
I don't know; I focused on AdvAnTAGE.
