Dramix counted forty six days of travel from the forest to the prison that would be holding them. His arms were useless. They could grip fine and handle delicate things but anything beyond lifting a bowl of stew was beyond him. Even after all the travel. All his plans of escape he could do no more than sit and wait. He wondered what tortures awaited them inside. For her at least one could be easily guessed. He could in fact not escape it in all likelihood as well. At best he could grab someones neck and use his weight to pin them to the ground. Possibly two. His tail was a weapon many without do not consider most times. As they entered their prison instead of a cell the back of the cage was opened into an arena and Naleeit got out instantly with only Dramix pants on covering the bandages on her legs. Dramix quickly followed as a man came at him with an iron mace.
The man was obviously starved and Dramix easily avoided his moves as Naleeit takes the sword from her attacker and broke his nose a moment later. Dramix found his opening and headbutt the one after him. He did not figure he hit him that hard as he fell on the sand unmoving. Then he noticed the blood coming from the mans back. An arrow was there. Dramix quickly spotted the shooter and took a stance as the next shot came. Dramix growled angry as he was too slow and took it in the arm. Naleeit took care of another two attackers in this time and threw the sword in her hand at the archer. With him gone there were no others. Dramix looked at his arm and tried to pull the arrow out. Naleeit came to him and pulled it out for him. They then looked up to the iron chain net over them. Escape from the air would not be possible. “ Only two remain. Which one of these newcomers will survive?”
Naleeit looked at him both surprised and worried. Dramix reached for the mace at his feet and struggled to pick up the weight. Using more his grip and back than his actual arm. He was offering it to Naleeit. She looked at it surprised before understanding. Dramix fell to his knees in the middle of the arena. “ Let my death be the call to war. Let it be known a son of a dragon died this day.”
Dramix took a deep breath and closed his eyes. He was ready and willing to die here so she may live. If the threat of the dawn breaker gear ever arrived to the dragons they would look back on the death of the first ones and see honor and dignity. He spent his life living to the ideal of what is a true dragon. As he waited for a swift end he hears a thud and then another right beside him. “ Let my death be a call to war. Let it be known the children of dragons died this day.”
She then took his hand. He knew their fates not their own but he would dare question any destiny that would keep them apart. Strangely instead of the leasing of bows he heard clapping. “ A touching display. I wonder how long you will last.”
After that a whack on his head he felt only the moment it happened before he blacked out. When he opened his eyes again the area around him was dark. His arms and legs were free but there was something around his neck. It was large and heavy and had a chain attached to it. The rattling chain must have disturbed someone as he heard a voice. “ Who is there?”
After a moment he recognized it. “ It is I Naleeit.”
Suddenly the chain becomes tight and he was pulled on. He held tight. “ Are you moving Naleeit?”
“ I am trying to come to your voice but this chain stops me.”
Dramix has an idea. “ Give the chain some slack.”
A moment later the pull on him eases up. “ Tell me if it tightens on its own.”
Dramix grabs and pull the chain tight. “ It did! What does it mean?”
Dramix had an idea. “ I am on one side of the chain and you are on the other. It is set up so that if one of us comes closer to the other then we will remain the same distance no matter what.”
Naleeit jerked on the chain and it went flying from Dramix grip. He knew it would be much easier if they could see. He tore his drawers for a piece of fabric and took a deep breath and exhaled it slowly. “ What are you doing?”
He continues as if uninterrupted before making a small hole in his lips to blow threw and a small flame came from within him. He lit the cloth and quickly found it burning fast but with the light he found a pile of remains and took off the tattered clothing from it and a femur to make a makeshift torch. “ How far are you from the fire?”
Naleeit gives an immediate answer. “ If I had to guess if you reached your wing to me I could maybe touch my tip to yours.”
Dramix did some thinking and came up with something. “ Back up the chain as I come to you. I will make another torch before leaving this one for you.”
He heard the chain land behind him and he starts going toward her voice. “ A little more to your left.”
After the correction he found more remains and made two more torches and lit one with the dying first one before backing away quickly. She comes to the torch and grabs it as well. “ This is not a viable long term solution.”
Dramix smirked. “ It is worth the effort to see you again. Look around where you can roam. And gather anything burnable.”
Naleeit starts her looking and several more torches made before hers died. He lit a new one he made in his wait and gathered what he could as well. “ What is around here will not last two hours.”
Dramix nods toward her. “ How are you able to produce fire?”
Dramix smirks happy. “ A fortunate development. It is something I have been training on for some time. Perhaps the last gift of my spirit before he was taken. Let us not discuss this and do other matters. Are you injured?”
Naleeit checks herself. “ I do not feel any injury new or otherwise.”
Dramix became relieved. “ And of you?
” Dramix sighed. The spot where the arrow entered was bleeding some but he could patch that with more of his drawers. “ I will live. Let us save the torches for more pressing needs. We can hear without seeing one another.”
Dramix closed his eyes on the pillar as Naleeit searched the entirety where she could roam for anything of use. Other than bones and rags of old clothing nothing was found. Suddenly the chain on him went limp. “ Naleeit?”
Her torch went out as a door opened. Dramix remained still to the new light. “ Here is your meal.”
The man threw a loaf of bread into the middle of them and a pouch. Then the door closes. “ You find the food.”
Dramix grabs a torch beside the pillar and lights it before finding the loaf. The jug came a few moments later. He drank heavy of it before ripping the loaf in half and setting the torch beside them and backing away. He sees Naleeit grab the remaining and went back to her pillar before sitting down and extinguished the torch. She ate it slowly as he ate his. He had no idea how long the two of them can endure but they must try. He pauses his eating when he has only a bite left. “ Naleeit, you will be getting bigger portions than I from now on.” S
he raises to her feet. “ No, I will not allow.”
Dramix let her rant on as he listened. “ Let us be realistic Naleeit. Who has a better chance of survival? You or I?”
She paused to that. “ My arms are not getting better. I will only hinder you from this point on.”
Naleeit fell to her knees knowing what he is saying. “ But I have swore my love for you. I will not let you die.”
Dramix closed his eyes. “ Naleeit, do you think this is easy for me to say when I have done the same to you. I know better than you what challenge you are going to face for what next I will ask of you.” She remained quiet to listen. “ If I should perish and you survive I ask you to go to my father. Tell him how his son lived.” Dramix paused hesitant. “ And died as a true son of a dragon. And even more difficult I am going to ask you to not let his line die with me.”
Naleeit rose up again. “ What are you asking me to do Dramix?”
Dramix looked away in the darkness ashamed. “ If you would allow it. Have him sire another child, with you.”
Naleeit did not know what to say. “ I know this is a hard request.”
Naleeit's chains laid back down again. “ I will do it. Because you asked this of me and should I fall I will ask you of an equal challenge. Use my death as a call to war for the others of our kind.”
Dramix smiled looking back in the darkness she was located around. Dramix knew the odds that even one of them getting out were low. Him lower than hers. Still hope remained. He had to keep it kindled with what little he could give it.
Peter was unsure how long had passed sense he arrived in the showroom of the prison. He was not thrilled being a trophy but it was better than being destroyed. And Zwilander kept him company. Absolutely refusing to being wielded by anyone but Dramix. He showed courage in surrendering together with her than fleeing. Peter had lost count of the days he has been on a pedestal. After a hundred he no longer cared. Instead of waiting he kept experimenting with what he could do. His manifestation he could use but he could not interact with anything other than Zwilander and he was not going to be leaving Gulliver's side. That left him with the option of searching the prison. Each time he left the eye he grew weaker and slower and less able to continue longer distances.
That is till he found them one day in a fighter pit. Both of them were thinned. Injury of repeated battles were apparent as well. Still they held hope in their eyes. The last time Peter spoke to Zwilander he still heard nothing of a rescue plan and still it would do no good. He watched at they went after Dramix more than Naleeit. His injuries had not healed and she was starting to grow unable to protect him. Even at a disability they left the arena only slightly harmed. Their prize was some food thrown to them and clothing of the dead. He figured for bandages till he followed them back to their cell where the two of them were locked far from one another. When the door closed Dramix started some deep breathing before lighting a small fire on a bone torch. He sets it in the middle of the two before lighting another and leaving it for her. With what they did not use for bandages they set to drain of blood to be lit another day. Peter forms beside of Dramix. “ Quite the problem we are in?”
Dramix almost jumped surprised seeing him. “ Spirit?”
Peter nods and kneels down to his sitting. “ Time is short and my strength wains. I am in the trophy room of the warden. So is Naleeit's armor. Tell me of any plans of escape.”
Dramix looked down sad. “ We have no means to do so. If we were in the normal populous perhaps.”
Peter nods with a smirk. “ I will see what I can do. I have been communing with Zwilander. They are in a refuge with other survivors of Gile. Have hope still. I.”
He then faded away. His strength must have gave way during his message. Naleeit pulled on the chain a little. “ What did he say?”
Dramix was not completely sure what to say. “ He said we must keep hope.”
Peter arrived at the amulet again to find he had company. He arrived in his drakan form exhausted and turned to mist a moment later. Zwilander looked at him amazed. “ You risk much each time you leave.” Peter turns to him. “ I found them. They are in a shared cell in the third section.”
Zwilander was not surprised. “ You strained yourself. Keep pushing your limits and you will break.”
Peter moved away in pain. “ I see it in their eyes. They will break before I. Naleeit is on the verge. He is not a step behind. I have the strength for one more time. Time is short for them both.”
Zwilander moves to his side and looks into the vast emptiness. “ Gulliver holds power by a thread. He marshals for the fight but has lost heart himself. This is why I prefer the drakan's hand to his. He has a set goal and the will to carry threw.”
Peter smiles to himself. “ If you ever wish to be in that hand again tell that man to come get us. They may have only days left. Their injury has accumulated in the slave fights. Dramix never recovered from the forest and Naleeit is wearing from the protection of them both. Without her he will fall in the pit and without him her will is gone.”
Zwilander sighs. “ There are forces here at play that you can not control.”
Peter moves away some. “ And Naleeit is the hope of the young prince. Dramix is the guide. By returning these two to him he will no longer doubt.”
Zwilander nods. “ But at what cost.”
Peter sighs. “ I know I am pleading for myself as well as them. In the beginning I came here for my own musings. I did not come here with the heart but I became attached to Dramix. Because of me he became attached to Naleeit. I can see without me coming to Dramix how things could have came to be. Many fortunes for Gulliver and Naleeit without Dramix in their lives.”
Zwilander crosses his arms. “ And I will still be in a barrel in that weapon shop. You know I have a great part in this tale do you not?”
Peter paused. “ Do you know more about me than I have told?”
Zwilander chuckled. “ Think souls only enter amulets?”
Peter laughed lightly. “ Point made. Still it is time you return to him. I ask you do not return till you have news of rescue. I will prepare them all I can.”
Dramix breathed hard as only a few sparks left his throat. He hoped they would light the cloth this time as well so they can find the food. He takes another deep breath to try again but starts coughing. “ Dramix?”
Dramix holds his side where he was cut earlier and bandaged first thing when they got back. “ Talk to me Dramix.”
Dramix looks for her in the darkness. “ I am so sorry Naleeit.”
He leans on the pillar that his back was all too familiar with. He coughs again feeling more blood coming from him. “ This may be my end.”
Naleeit pulls on the chain so he would feel it. “ Don't you dare leave me! I will kill you if you leave me.”
Dramix smiled as the bone left his hand. Strangely he remembers the legends and stories he was taught of his ancestors. Their struggles and trials. He closed his eyes as his limbs fell to his side. “ I love you Naleeit.”
Dramix grabs an arrowhead he has been using for the last several months as a chisels and starts on the link on the chain almost half way threw. “ Damn you Dramix. Treat yourself!”
Dramix arms lost strength and dropped the arrowhead and fell to the ground again. “ After I pass put all your strength into pulling the chain. I have weakened a single link that should allow escape.”
Naleeit paused as the chain started to pull him to rise up. “ What are you?”
Dramix hears the chain on her end getting looped together as it becomes to the point of the binding on his neck gets caught to the hole for the chain and his feet were off the ground. He was only up there a moment but then the chain snaps and he fell to his feet then hands. “ Why did you not say that before?”
Dramix coughed several times as he rolled over finding the bread. He takes it and bites into it before grabbing some and sticking the soft part into the bandage. He goes to his knees and finds one of the touches and prepares his inner fire again. With hope and something ate he succeeded in making the flame long enough for it to catch. She came to him after that and helped him back to his feet before hugging him. He smiled again as he backed away and offered her the bread. She knew that was wise as she ate it and he got the jug and found several others missed by them or previous occupants of the room.
Dramix and Naleeit both knew they were too tired and weak to make an escape by the air but what concerned them more was getting out of the room they were in. Time had given them both supply and patients to make tools. Dramix made them patch armor made from the smaller bones they gathered and the leather pouches. As well as anything they could smuggle from the arena fights. Naleeit did weapons and they came to the door finding it without a handle but knowing the only needed something to pry it open because they never heard a lock on it. Naleeit broke a long thin bone and started stripping it long ago to suit the cause. That barely slowed them down and they came to the long hall they get sent threw every time to and from the arena. Dramix grabs Naleeits shoulder as his leg gives way under him and she catches him. “ You are not well.”
Dramix closed his eyes as he gets his feet under him again. “ We stand no chance of escape. We need to get to the chief of this place chambers.”
Naleeit took him under the arm and put his weight on her. “ I am not leaving you.”
Dramix takes the first step out of their cell. “ We are mates. We live together and die together.”
Naleeit was unsure why he said that but that gave her strength as she carried them. There is only one passage to take and they went down it. Their speed was not great but they were in no great hurry. It will be a full day before the next feeding them and by then their escape will be known. “ This time we will have our deaths or freedom.”
Dramix chuckles to her. “ I would prefer the latter honestly but I fear my fate may be sealed.”
Naleeit pauses and he falls to the wall with his hand covered in his own blood. “ I am slowing you down.”
Naleeit looked at him sorry. “ I will not abandon you!” He shakes his head. “ Not abandoning. You need to get your armor and the amulet. Find me medicines and food as well.”
Naleeit moves toward him. “ Do not let your emotions guide your actions. That is what you said a knight does. You know if both of us are to live you must get what I need and I am too slow and moving hastens my demise.”
Naleeit pauses and goes to him again and embraces him hard. She takes a bone shank she made and put it in his free hand. “ If any come act dead. If they search you put this in their neck.”
Dramix nods as she backs away. For Dramix the hardest thing he ever had to endure was watching her go. He goes to sit again and lets the shiv go before checking the bandage. With him no longer moving it did not bleed. He will not last much longer he knew. Perhaps he should have asked her to try to bare children with the father with the name Dramix right then. The act would sap what time he had left but it would ease her burden of escape. As he sat there wondering with the last of time a fog appeared beside him. “ Spirit?”
The fog forms a drakan he knew as his spirit. “ So it ends here?”
Dramix looks away. “ I have neither the strength nor the will anymore. My foundation has wore away and I have no supports to be the pillar.”
Peter sits beside of Dramix. “ You know the nice thing about being a pillar?”
Dramix barely raised his shoulder. “ Tell me.” Peter looks at his cut. “ When they are built right in a structure. They all support one another. Do not forget that you did not add Naleeit to the structure you belong to but you were added to hers.”
Dramix became confused. “ I do not understand.”
Peter smiles as he starts to fade away again. “ You really must learn to listen.”
Then he was gone. Dramix smirked pleased. A puzzle to the end. He leaned back to wait for his last breath and rest to prevent it. As he did his ears caught a distant scream. It was not unusual for the place to have them but this one was not from torture. The voice then started spreading. They were cheers of joy; of freedom and cheers of revenge as others scream in death. Dramix smirked a little more. “ Why not.”
Somehow he found the strength to stand once again and started moving as he did the screams came closer and he moved slower. It soon came to a point of an intersection and he paused as an armored guard falls there as if tripped when fleeing and four are on him with rocks before he stops moving and he was still watching them as they stripped his body of gear and put it on another. They were about to split up when they see him. Dramix reaches for the bone shiv but finds it gone. He must have left it behind. “ You two help this one to the medical wing. The princess will want to see him.”
Dramix raised up a little surprised as two of them took to under his arms.
Dramix passed out soon after that and awoke again on a table with someone shoving some form of gruel down his throat. He turns and coughs up half of it before turning back to the one doing it but stops hearing a voice. “ What about the armory?”
Another's response is told to her. “ Locked up tight. We outnumber them ten to one but they are better armored and armed. We get funneled into a wall of death at each junction.”
She pauses hearing that and Dramix leans forward taking the bowl to eat properly. “ You must have some swords and spears to spare. Find a good thin wall and start digging threw it.”
Naleeit then turns to see him. She smiles pleased before looking at the one treating him. He only nods before taking his hand. “ I feared the worst.”
Dramix leans in toward her and she holds him. “ It is not over yet. I have missed much it seemed.”
Naleeit backed away. “ I took a wrong turn and wound up in general population. There were not that many guards and once they saw me take care of them the prisoners rose up to fight as well. Most of the men served my father loyally were sent here when captured. One recognized me as the princess and that became a rally cry.”
Naleeit goes to a key and reaches behind his neck and takes off his collar. “ I am in good hands it seems. Lead your people Naleeit. I will not die now.”
Dramix pulls the armor off his chest. “ Who among you commands in the name of the princess?”
There was a pause in the room as a lone man steps forward and solutes. “ Lieutenant Noa of the thirty second reserves.”
Dramix offers him his armor. “ You now command this lost legion under her name. This is armor made from the bones of your fallen comrades to aid your princess. Wear it with dignity.”
Noa takes it and sees it was similar to the one Naleeit had on. He grips it hard before putting it over the guard chest piece he had on. Dramix leaned back on the bed and allows the one treating him to continue to feed him. “ I am but a broken pillar at the moment. You must rely on the others you know well till I am able again.”
Naleeit leans him happy before gripping his hand. He sees her happy before closing his eyes to rest.
Naleeit moved to the command table and a guessed map of the prison they were in. Then proceeded to mule over it for hours. They had control of the prisoner cells, medical wing and food store but they had the armory, guard barracks and warden room. There were two major points of entry at every section. One leading to the neighboring one and two secondary for each of them as well. There was also the arena entrance where is linked to every section but the warden. The only way out it threw the tunnel under that section and that is locked up by a lever mechanism in the wardens chambers. They had the arena but no way past the gate. With only about fifty guards to guard eight points it was not hard for them to hold out almost indefinitely against their numbers. Suddenly a small girl was on the table. It was the little elf. “ Maple why are you here?”
She looked at Naleeit confused as the men arm themselves. “ Hold, she is a friend.”
The girl nods her head. “ The trees heard screams different than before. I asked them to listen for you while I waited looking for you to escape.”
Naleeit smiles. She changes things. “ Can you bypass their defenses and get to the wardens treasury? I need my armor then I can lead a push.”
Maple shakes her head. “ I can hide big things but I can not move and hide with something so heavy.”
Naleeit considers something else. “ What about Dramix amulet?” Maple smiled and was gone again. Noa came to her. “ A young elf?”
Naleeit smirked. “ That is how me and my husband were captured. We were covering their evacuation as Gulliver lead them to safety.”
The room goes quiet. News the prince alive as well just ignited hope in them even more. Maple came back to the table shaking her head. “ I'm sorry. There is no opening for it to go threw big enough.”
They both then turn hearing Dramix voice. “ Come forth the spear slayer of gods. The immortal Zwilander!”
They turn to see a black armored knight appear at his side and help him stand. The knight then turned to a black iron spear in Dramix hand. “ I thought that you lost your shaman powers without the amulet.”
Dramix smirked. “ This power is not granted to me by my shaman but by Zwilander. He has deemed me worthy and will heed my call for him. I shall make you a hole. After that I can do no more till I recover.”
Naleeit had the closest main point fall back and all the reserves lined up behind them readying for a huge push. Dramix felt his side properly bandaged before looking at the spear. “ I do understand but we could not wait any longer and I needed your help.”
Naleeit among others looked at him a little confused. This was not exactly new to her but he was without his amulet. Another thing he speaks to. She decides then to not think about it too hard to stem madness. Dramix then takes a ready fighting pose as the guards baring their way raise their shields. “ No, I am not going to throw you, but it is a good idea.”
Naleeit seemed to see the spear react to the comment. Dramix had to take a tighter hold on it. With the recovery of time she was glad he at least could lift that much weight now. To strike with force was another matter. He then starts his fire breathing exercise and the spear seemed pleased to learn a new trick. Dramix fire was slim and narrow and weak but he blew the flame on Zwilander and the spear turned to fire. Yet it did not burn him. The flaming spear then seemed to grow in girth and length. The intensity of the fire magnifying. “ Torrent of Dragon's Rage!”
Dramix lunged the spear as if hitting one right in front of him and the fire lunged forward past the spear covering the narrow passage. The fire collides with the guards shields and steel armor and seemed to melt it as screams were coming from it. Dramix then fell to his knees and Naleeit caught hold of him. “ Let them feel the fury of my heart.”
Naleeit then gave them the order to charge. She gave him to several to take back to the medical wing before continuing herself. The passage underfoot scorched was hot to the touch and the three guards had their armor melted onto them. Their very blood seemed to have boiled out of their living bodies. The smell made her hunger.
Gulliver arose from the meeting to find the order still unwilling to help with the escape. He had marshaled the Gile citizens refugees into a small fighting force but knew they would not be enough to last more than a retreat action. They had numbers but little experience. “ I appreciate you hearing me once again. When the time comes we will stand with you. May we be ready.”
Gulliver then turned to grab the spear his friend left him and found it gone. He knows none have entered nor left nor had any been behind him sense he sat the spear there. This must be a sign time is short. “ I would like to make a final request of this meeting.”
Those at the table start listening to him closely. “ I wish to lead a party to the prison. Only a few to scout it. I request only an elf and one of the order.”
None were certain what to say to that as the one of the elder elves rose. “ That will not diminished the forces any. We will send you an elf. Thou they will stay hidden and protect you while in the wooded lands.” One of the head clerics stand. “ We have more than enough healers. Perhaps some new experience will do them good.”
Gulliver nods hearing that. They noticed he not leaving with the spear as well and started to discuss this as he left the meeting and went to the tent granted to him by the Gile refugees. Women and children mostly. Some of the older and a couple young men who grew strong outside of conflict. Over the last year he alone has been training any volunteering how to fight. Most are younger than he wishes or too old but it was a desperate time. The order has been good to them and they promise a return but they can not do much. They are a reserve at best. This is what makes this journey so important. He slept light and uneasy in anxiety but rose early to begin and found the chosen cleric. He was a young man. About his age it seemed but younger in appearance as life has been good to him. He had clerk robes on and a huge pack on his back. “ So you the holy order escort?” The clerk nods. “ And can you travel from dawn to dusk?”
The clerk nods again. “ I take scrolls from the library to the masters that need them and the reverse. I do this up and down stairs from the basement to the top floor.”
Gulliver was mildly impressed. “ And these scrolls weigh as much as the pack on your back?”
The clerk pauses. “ Well no but.” Gulliver shakes his head. “ We are traveling light and fast. Take only what you can carry for the journey.”
The clerk looks back at the pack. “ But there is food and camping.” Gulliver cuts him off. “ Our camp will be a blanket of a bush if we are fortunate. There will be no fire. There will be no cooking.”
The clerk looked back at him surprised. “ But that is barbaric.”
Gulliver nods to him. “ Yes and it will keep us alive. I too thought as you till I was forced from my home. Made to live off the land in hiding. Oh and your robes will have to be replaced as well.”
The clerk backed away a step. “ I shall not cast aside my honor so easily.”
Gulliver looks coldly at him. “ When they catch you, and they will, they will do horrible things to you. Things like my sister and friend are enduring right now. They stayed behind with their honor. Not some symbol they wear like a banner but true honor that comes from within you. You must remember we are not taking a stroll threw some pleasant field. We are going into places the very land may turn against you.”
The clerk turned scared. “ Tell me you do not wish to come and you may stay. Me and the elf may go alone.”
The clerk started to turn away but stops. “ All my life I lived under the order. This is the first time I been off the island. When I am asked by the gods what did I do with my life I do not want to tell them I ran scrolls all my life.”
Gulliver smiled a little. “ Good, experience is a good teacher. I know you will grumble and complain but there is time and place for it. Keep it to yourself and on my word of honor I will endure every word you say without question.”
Gulliver then starts helping the pack off of him. “ And I hate listening to others complaining. My sister does it all the time.”
Dramix listened to the one that has been caring for him over the last weeks. Many wanted to escape right away but Naleeit and a few others had cooler heads. They asked one simple question. “ And go where?”
They knew they were better off staying put for the time being and they put on a convening act so far nothing is wrong. A shipment of supplies and two more prisoner batches have come. It seems few ever leave the prison, guard or prisoner, and that worked well for them. Maple left shortly after them gaining control of the prison only saying that they should be ready to leave when they see her again. So those of the prison started returning to a healthy state. Still boredom was taking hold. Many took to training worn away skills and Dramix laid on his back. Looking at the dimly lit amulet. The spirit of his amulet went to great lengths for him. More than ever should been asked for. He leans back hearing the words and closed his eyes. He found himself in the vastness of the amulet with a small fog figure and a black armored knight beside him. “ His last words to me. Would you wish to hear them?”
Dramix takes a step forward toward them. “ Yes.”
Zwilander turns his helmet to him. “ Do not devote myself to him. Devote it to his cause. He exhausted his power fully. In both here and where he is from. All for you. Because he is trapped here he can not go back to recover there and because you are so weak he has no means here. So here he is. In this state.”
Dramix wished he could do something, anything to help. “ What must I do Zwilander?”
The knight looks away ashamed. “ I do not know. I must commend him however. He has fought a war I never could and won but the cost was too great. Till you are again at strength he will remain like this.”
Dramix sighs. “ And death is going to greet me soon we both know. Is this the fate of our destiny? To die shortly after the battle won but not the war?”
Zwilander had no answer for him. “ You have your youth Dramix. Use it wisely.”
The knight then vanished. He had no idea what he meant by that as he looked at his spirit again. It was time he made a choice. His eyes opened again and sees Naleeit sitting beside him. She had thinned and her armor was loose on her body. “ Naleeit.”
She instantly leaves her doze and sees him awake. “ Dramix.”
Dramix reaches his hand to her and she takes it. “ I know you are going to say leave you.”
Dramix shook his head. “ No, but you must accept it. I am little use now.”
Naleeit used her free hand to rub his side. His ribs were showing. “ It was never your body that I needed.”
Dramix looks away. “ But that is what is needed. I am going to ask you to lay with me here now.”
Naleeit paused looking at him. “ Why?”
Dramix leans his head back. “ I can not continue any more. I am helpless without my arms. My spirit has exhausted his power to help me and I am not recovering so he is not recovering. I am baggage. A weight and a burden. I have accepted this and.”
Naleeit punches him in the jaw. “ You son of a.”
She pauses seeing a tear of pain run down his face. No it was sadness. In him beats the heart of a proud dragon. One who knows he has nothing left to offer. She sighs and stands. “ Leave us will you?”
She starts going for the straps of her armor and he raises his hand. “ Your armor makes you more attractive. Leave it on.”
She looks at him annoyed and sighs again as she at least unfastens her leggings and take them off. She then pauses thinking back in the cave. It was youthful impulse that drove her then but now she knows there is something between them. Something deep. She had noticed it more in their captivity. Noticed it in the battle in the forest and even all the way back to in Gile. This is the one she loves, and to bare his child will be her greatest honor. She uncovered his lower half seeing it much different than the last time together. Still she did not hesitate as she climbed on the table to ready to be with him. As she got in position she looked up to find a small elf embarrassed. “ I came at a bad time.”
Naleeit paused and Dramix heard her behind her. “ All she does is have to sit.”
Naleeit slaps his chest. The fragile mood was gone.
