I appreciate action photos like this as much the timing, a steady hand and prepared technique for taking such a shot.
In fairness, I used sequential shots with a motor drive with film as well. Mainly it was for sports during my high school newspaper days. Sometimes it is just the best way to get the shot. I was more judicious, because I had to either develop it or pay to develop it, but I did go through 5 to 6 36-shot rolls at some events.
