Beech AT-10 Wichita - USAF Museum 04-18-2017
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
This advanced trainer was notable in that everything but the engine cowling and the cockpit were made from wood to save aluminum. That even included the fuel tanks. This also allowed furniture manufacturers and similar companies to get into producing warplanes.
The Wichita was the trainer used to transition from a mid-level single engine trainer to a multi0engine trainer. Graduates went on to pilot multi-engine bombers like the B-17 and other multi-engine aircraft.
