Andrew Nicholas and Stephen Archibald Lightfoot, by TohDaryl
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
With Not Exactly Night back on everyone's radar, including my own, I figured it was time for more character art!
Y'all may remember this picture -- it's pretty old as far as character art goes, dating to May-June 2014, right after I graduated from Eckerd (the college where Stephen goes). This was one of the series of portraits that I commissioned TohDaryl (instagram.com/tohdraws/) for that year, when Not Exactly Night was still new and fresh and problematic. I remember approving the final version on my phone in a parking lot while my husband and I were going to go get Checkers after a night of drinking...ah, memories.
This is the first time that Stephen was ever portrayed in art, and his character has evolved immensely not only since then, back when he was kind of added on as a Cousin Oliver-esque psychopath who Andrew just barely tolerated. He's become a fully-fleshed character, one who, I think majorly unexpectedly, will have a huge influence on how the story of The Dogs ended up.
Also Stephen is using Snapchat, not Instagram, as was the assumption some years ago. Ha!
A good way to know Stephen -- and why he's not wearing a shirt -- would be to read the short story that stars him: :link1480472:
Finally, big ups to for helping me get Stephen's eyes to new canon (he's heterochromatic).
