DogBomb
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
8 or 9 years ago, I stumbled across this account on FA that was quite a bit different from the others I watched. Here was this fursuiter, who interacted casually with the public, posting photos with unsuspecting regular people that had corresponding stories which were always so vibrant with positivity. This, at a time when furries were mostly considered sexual deviants or awkward basement-dwelling geeks by the majority of non-furs that even knew about us. He brought a positive image to the fandom while giving us fun stories to read on a semi-regular basis. He went by the name DogBomb.
So who was this guy? Here was this talking dog wandering about the beach areas where my (non-furry) friends and I would frequent on various weekends. At the time, I was not very immersed in the fandom as I am now… In fact, the furry fandom kinda terrified me. I wondered, would my friends and I end up running into him one of those days? Should I be concerned if my friends saw him? Or saw me with him?! No! For the first time in my pre-furry life, I was seriously hoping every time I went to the beach I would see him out there, so I could run over and say hi. I wanted to meet him!
As time went on, I became more and more absorbed by furries, and eventually I moved away from Southern California to live with a lot of them in the Bay Area. It wasn’t until a few years later I finally got the chance to meet DogBomb in person. We became instant friends! I mean, how could you NOT like this guy?! He is, by far, one of the nicest and friendliest people you’d ever meet. Beyond that, he has singlehandedly helped promote a positive image of furries to the world. He is truly a remarkable dog!
The news of him being diagnosed with ALS devastated me. How nature can be so cruel to select such an amazing wonderful person to have such a horrific disease… Yet, here’s that talking dog again with his positive attitude even in the face of such immense obstacles. He is not only a perfect paragon for the furry fandom, but he is also by far a great role model for the fight against ALS (as well as learning to handle most life struggles with stride). It’s as though this talking dog has found a life zen many of us need to find ourselves. Dogbomb is an inspiration… a role model… and truly an amazing person and friend.
Dogbomb, never lose that light within you! This painting is for you!
