The Jakarta are a hybrid that appear to be a mix of a bat, flying squirrel, and bird. Males have more 'display' feathers with fluffy tails while the Females have more plumage/fur in their necks and arms with longer slender tails. They feed mainly on nectar with extraordinarily long tongues and often times take the colors of the first flower they fed from into childhood. They have eyespots on their tails (sometimes wings) and "antennae" that serve as subtle signals to others in their group. They roost in colonies of up to 20, and can be seen hanging upside-down while curled up in their wings and large tails during the day, and nest in tree burrows during the night as they are mainly crepuscular (dusk & dawn) feeders. They are just as agile running on the undersides of branches as they are on the tops. They are not capable of true flight but glide, sometimes seen fluttering like butterflies to gain some momentum and height on their path. There will be some Jakarta that have hair, some not. Some more ornate than others with wings patterned after moths and butterflies.
